Kiddy Infinity Pro top-rated Stage 1 car seat by Which? Anyone got one and do you recommend it?

The Kiddy Infinity Pro is Which's top-rated Stage 1 car seat (for 9mth-4yrs). It is German I think. It seems to have an 'impact cushion' which makes it safer than a 5-pt harness in a crash.

Is it easy to use?

Does anyone have one? Would you recommend it?

I am a Grandmother looking after a 9 month old. I find fitting the Kiddy Inf Pro very easy and think it is very safe.(see video on cozy babyz web site)I've only used twice for two short trips but it was so easy getting SR in and out. However SR did not seem to like cusion I think it will be better when SR is a bit taller.

Hi Curlz ,
I am thinking about getting this car seat, you mentioned a North London store, can you tell me which one?
I prefer to see the before buying it. Thanks

lauracardiff · 11/03/2009 10:19

Go to Kiddy website www.kiddy.de/gb/handlersuche

Enter country and it'll list all dealers in the UK.

In N London I can see one in West Finchley - All Seasons

I'm going to try one out this weekend.

I purchased an Infiniti Pro carseat for my nephew as I'd read such wonderful reviews about it. He's 15 months old and although I have no problem putting him into the seat, I can't keep him in it as he keeps sliding out the bottom and onto the floor. Has anybody else had this problem or have any suggestions? It's too late to send it back which would be a very expensive mistake. Please help!

EachPeachPearMum · 27/03/2009 06:15

Has anyone used this with an older child? I am wondering how well the bar fits across say a 3 year old with a huge winter coat on?
Can it really be as safe as a 5-point harness?

mejones · 04/04/2009 22:24

We've been using the kiddylife plus for our 2 girls, 4.5yrs and almost 2. It's the one that goes from 9mths to 12 years and so far we think it's great. I think it may have been updated since we first bought one. My bro lives in Germany and has them for his children and we were so impressed we bought them for our girls once they'd grown out of the baby seat. Machine washable for those car sick moments which is fantastic! Sometimes the 4yr seems a bit snug in it with a coat on, but it's only for short journeys, if we do a long one she wouldn't wear a coat. I can't remember when we stopped using the cushion bit that goes across the tummy, but our 2yr old still uses it.
I can't imagine ever having to buy another car seat!

thisisyesterday · 04/04/2009 22:33

hmm can anyone tell me how wide the one is that goes up to 12 yrs??? we need a new one for ds1, but it needs to fit in with 2 other car seats

mpw · 05/05/2009 10:56

I've been researching for a new car seat for our 12 month old daughter over the weekend and have decided that the Kiddy is the one to go for. There are plenty of safety test videos on YouTube if anyone else is considering this.

Anyway, the decision is now wether to buy the Infiniti Pro (9mths-4yrs) or the Comfort Pro (9nths-12yrs). I'm not too worried about price - I just want what is best. Does anyone know if both seats are the same size when using them for early stages? I wonder if the Infinity is better for younger children as it may be proportioned properly and hold then snug. Or maybe there is no difference and it makes more sense to get the Comfort Pro which expands are they grow.

Lib76, I see you swapped. Are the seat bases, swap etc the same size?

Supercherry · 05/05/2009 11:14

Haven't read all the thread but is it rear facing? If it is not rear facing then it is far from being the safest car seat available.

See this website

I was shocked when I realised how in the UK we are so behind when it comes to child car seat safety.

Supercherry · 05/05/2009 11:17

Also read this if you want to know which products are the safest. The link is from a website where you can order rear facing car seats. I'm just deciding which one to buy myself.

charliex0x · 19/05/2009 20:13

I bought the 'Kiddy Comfort Pro Group 123 Car Seat' after watching all the videos for this product and thought it looked fantastic; so safe and easy to use. The reality is that my 15 month old son hated the impact shelf that fitted on the front of the seat. He is not a big child, but this seat seemed to fit a little too snug. It is a shame, as it is very well made and the idea is great, but in reality it just doesn't work. I sent the seat back to Olivers Babycare (who were great, and gave me a full refund) and am now using my Maxi-Cosi again.

McCharlieMouse · 27/05/2009 18:01

I bought a Kiddy Infinity Pro for my 11month old and so far its great! He loves banging on the top of the impact shelf when I put it round him. The shelf is also great for attaching toys to!

I've read some of the posts on here, one mentioned that their dc slipped down, I can't work out how thats possible, there is no way my ds is going anywhere and he has only just got to the 9kg lower weight limit for the seat!

DS also seems very comfy in it and happily falls asleep on our longer journeys.

Its very easy to transfer between cars, and partic good as exh car doesn't have isofix so its safe and secure all round.

For me a very good buy.

cheekychopper · 28/05/2009 12:07

I am also thinking about the infinity pro, didn't know about the comfort pro.
I'm a bit worried about baby being hot and sweaty squashed between the seat and the cushion. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Nats79 · 29/05/2009 14:05

Hi all, have just finished maiden voyage of this car seat with 9 mo however unlike usual car journeys she refused to sleep and when I got her out she was drenched in sweat and I can't help but think it was because of big bumper pad. Anyone else had this?

charliex0x · 31/05/2009 13:28

Hi Nats79 - My son wouldn't sleep in it either, and he always sleeps on car journeys. I didn't like the fact I couldn't recline his seat during the journey either, it has to be done when you actually fit it into the car.

Nats79 · 31/05/2009 19:22

Thanks charliex0x - I'm ordering a new one and going to leave the Kiddy at my mums' as a second seat - it freaks me out how constrictive it is!!

McCharlieMouse · 31/05/2009 21:29

No problems with my DS getting hot and sweaty (maybe I just have the air con on very high !), even this weekend with the hot, sunny weather he's been fine and happy.

Debs75 · 15/06/2009 14:01

Have just found the infinity pro in pramland our local baby shop. Tried my small 9 month old in it and she did seem very secure and quite relaxed.

according to the owner this is one of the safest seats (baring rearward facing which some cars aren't big enough to accomodate) and it is very popular in germany. Mamas and Papas are bringing their own version out in september and he thinks that will make more people notice them.

He sells them at 149 for the 9mnth to 4yrs and 195 for 9mnth to 11 yrs. This works out at 20 per year. His shop is more expensive then a lot of the others so should come in at 20-30 cheaper.

My prejudice is there are no straps so how does baby/child stay secure but she looked very well protected.

Before i buy am going to take niece(2)and (5) to see how they fit, would also like to do a test drive.

I think the constrictive aspect is because it restricts in a different way to a traditional harness.

Anyone who has used it for a couple of months please let us know how it went

MumofEm · 17/06/2009 13:37

Hi
Just wanted to let you all know that I have just bought the Kiddy Infinity Pro from BabyBoom2000. I got a price match of £135 including delivery for the dark Grey (which looks great), ordered it on Friday and it arrived Monday morning.
My LO is 10 months old and seems to love it. I thought that she would look really tiny in it when I saw the pictures on-line, but actually, she looks really comfy and was singing all the way to the shops (well! In her own little angelic way, anyway!!).
I went for the Infinity Pro because, I read somewhere (maybe on Which!) that the Kiddy Comfort (9 months - 11 years) was not as highly recommended as it spanned too many age groups - but - don't quote me on that.
Anyway, I'm really pleased with this, my LO loves it, it's really easy to get her in and out of and to swap to different cars, and along with the safety aspect that'll ding dang do for me.

helencw77 · 21/06/2009 19:37

Hello, I've been researching car seats for my nearly 11 month old, thinking that we will probably move her up in a month or two (I want to keep her rearfacing as long as poss, but because my husband drives a Peugeot 107 and we do need to put the seats into both cars then we have to stick with forward facing I think).

Anyway, I have a Citroen Picasso and hence have three car seats all in a row along the back seat (ds is 4, dd1 is 3). At the moment dd2 is in a Cabriofix and I use the isofix base. I am worried that it is going to be a pain trying to fit the Kiddi in with a seatbelt, I will get my hand stuck between her seat and ds' seat, what do you think ?

Also, this may sound like an obvious and quite trivial question, but I've only seen pics of the seat and not with a child in, but can the child access their hands easily (ie to put their own dummy in or eat something (mushy of course, I have a fear of one of my children choking on something whilst I'm driving !) I do quite a few miles to/from nursery and so comfort is v important, but it must be practical too as I have 3 small children and I don't want to spend hours fiddling with the seatbelt. Are the covers easy to remove, I can imagine if it's just an impact cushion there must be endless possibilities for getting dribble, snot and sick stuck to it.

I am planning on trying one out, I even emailed the place in Germany and asked them whether there were plans to develop an isofix version (which would be ideal for me !) but apparently it's not on the cards, so would be interested in anybody's views who actually uses the seat.

Thanks,

Helen

pigleychez · 22/07/2009 10:27

Helen- watch this video it shows a couple of kids sitting in the seat.

Ive just been researching them myself Any more feedback from the people that bought them?

AppleandMosesMummy · 22/07/2009 10:53

I've just tested it for a magazine and have to say it's by far the best product out of the 4 I was sent, it'll win hands down.

AppleandMosesMummy · 22/07/2009 10:56

Just thought I'd also mention, the man from Britax made a good point that really no adult wears a coat in the car and babies shouldn't (nor snowsuits) because they over heat and the harness' aren't snug enough if they are comfortable iyswim ?

goingnowherefast · 15/08/2009 19:18

just wanted to add that severe front inpacts are more common than severe side impacts, roughly 72% of serious crashes are front impacts and roughly 22% side impacts. So I still think rf is safer. The kiddy seat looks to be the best ff seat though.

CarGirl · 15/08/2009 19:24

I've acquired a BMW isofix car seat with the impact cushion like the kiddy pro, I'm going to try it on dd who is 4 tomorrow - a 5 hours drive to our holiday destination - will let you know how we get on...........
