i am pg with number 2. dd will be about 18 months when i am due. am trying to wade through the mindfield of prams again. i have the mutsy 4 rider adn i am gutted to find that the double unit does not go on my wheels. i spent as much as i could on m first travel system thinking i can use for number 2 but it has not worked out as i fell i will need a double system. i would love a phil and teds but cant afford to shell out alot for another set of wheels. i have looked at the mclaren and sivercross pop side by side buggy things that say they are sutable for newborns but i cant see how. does any ne have any suggestions. dont want to spend more than about £200 as my dd1 will not use it for too long and then i can go back to my mutsy.

We are in the same situation as you and are looking at either the We2 Combi or the Bay Jogger City Mini which are both side-by-sides.

You can get a WE2 Combi BN off e-bay for about £180. The City Mini is a bit more expensive I think the cheapest I have found it is £260 from an e-bay shop.

Taht should be Baby Jogger! Sorry!!!

I just bought a second-hand P&T with full doubles kit for £150 in mint condition (netmums). Keep an eye on local boards, it took me about 4 months to spot this one!

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 15:37

You could try looking on ebay for a cheap p&t. My ds will be 18m when ds2 is born (in about 5 weeks hopefully) I don't drive so went for a tandem rather than side by side.
We got this one
Paid "200 in Toys r us but it's not on their website

ErinH · 08/01/2009 15:41

I'm in exactly the same position. i like the idea of having one forward facing (18 month old) and one facing me in a carrycot rather than a seat (newborn) and have only found the 'First wheels city twin' at mothercare. it retails at £440 but have also found one on ebay for around £200. if you find any others, let us know. erin

pud1 · 08/01/2009 15:43

i dont drive my self so why would i be better with a tandem ( trying not to be thick )

It's easier to get about shops etc with a tandem rather than a side by side. Also the older one can't poke the little one as they generally sit up front.
Before P&T made it over here I bought a Kidz Kargo tandem (old type) and it was fab. It was a narrow as a single easy to push and I couldn't have done without it. I don't think the newer ones are built as well though. It was a 3 wheeler.

Why not look at the Kiddicare site, it can help you narrow your choices and will likely be the cheapest on the net. If what you want is still out of budget then at least you can look for secondhand version.

nicolamumof3 · 08/01/2009 16:47

i would sell the mutsy and get a p&t you can get them on sale atm on kiddicare and mothercare bn for under £300 with doubles and cocoon so worth it. don't be a we2 they are rubbish that was my first double. five more down the line and i succumbed to a p&t. a cheap double is a false economy. good luck!

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 16:48

What astarte said. The one I linked also isn't that much longer than a standard so I figured would also be easier to get on a bus.
Dp has a ford focus and we have to take the wheels off that pushchair to get it in the boot though, and the basket isn't as big as I thought it was before I bought it, and the raincover is huge!

Astarte · 08/01/2009 16:50

Do you know LBB I'm rather liking you atm, I don't often have people agree with me on 'ere, but you have twice!
Perhaps it's 'cos we're due on the same day

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 16:53

Oh, haha. People don't really agree with me either. Must be something to do with feb babes!

What else do we agree on? The other one isn't springing to mind....

Astarte · 08/01/2009 16:57

Oh bugger, the pressure of remembering a thread. I'll have to get back to you, it was over Christmas I think.....hmm, actually, maybe I'm only to get one agreement a year, they've just come in quick succession.

Ah well back to normal for the rest of the year then

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 16:58

Hehehe.

I'll put a call out to you next time I need some back up I think.

LynetteScavo · 08/01/2009 17:02

I love my P&T so much I still use it even though DS is 5.

I would second buying a 2nd hand one.

Astarte · 08/01/2009 17:08

I'll add that I'm lucky that money has worked with us this year and we have afforded (just about) the P&T. I agree with LS it is fabulously easy to manage and I adore it.

See what ebay has to offer.

bojangles · 08/01/2009 20:13

I have a herqules twin raptor that I am selling - it has been used a few times but my DS now walks everywhere and it is now just sitting in my conservatory waiting to be listed on e bay. It is a side by side with fully recling seats and the seat unit is reversible - I bought it because of this as I wanted to keep an eye on DS and baby and ensure there was no poking! It is in Camo beige and looks fantastic. It is a big pram (along lines of twin emmaljunga - made by sister company to them aswell) but it built for comfort. If you were interested I live in the midlands....

I had a P+T for DD1 and DS but I didn't get on with it so well as DD still had daytime naps and it was hard for her to sleep in the top seat as it doesn't recline.

FourArms · 09/01/2009 09:37

I'm selling a P&T if anyone is interested? Black/grey with doubles seat, double raincover, double UV sun cover, flight bag, baby cocoon thingy, side hanging bag, sheepskin. I'm in Devon but could courier it.

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 09/01/2009 09:46

I would try to get a P&T second hand, as they are very practical, but would hang onto your parent-facing pram too as you may miss it later on.I sold my bug after DD1 (second child) turned 1 and I regret it, and have ended up buying another so we can chat.

I put DD2 in the sling and DD1 in the pram so we can all see each other. Still wouldn't be without my P&T at the mo, though, they are such workhorses!

nicolamumof3 · 09/01/2009 10:32

four arms would you consider selling your flight bag seperately?

FourArms · 09/01/2009 10:46

Yes certainly. Do you need it urgently? We're away this weekend, and although I know it's put away in one of the baby equipment boxes, I'm not sure which one..... I could dig it out early next week.

They're about £50 new, so would be looking for about £25. It's in good working order, but has been used on a couple of flights, so is marked in places.

nicolamumof3 · 09/01/2009 11:00

dh has just said we aren't taking p&t on hols much to my disappointment so will leave it thanks i just know the maclaren will be useless on beach but let him push it !

FourArms · 09/01/2009 14:06

I probably wouldn't take mine again. It was fantastic whilst we were there (and completely agree, Maclaren wheels would be a nightmare on the beach!), but the frame got bent on the flight home. However, we did get the insurance to pay out for a part replacement, so I did get a shiny new one!

BigFurryStripeyTiger · 09/01/2009 14:17

That's a shame, because you can get all your beach stuff and the dc on the P&T!

(I'm a regualr, BTW, and we've chatted about P&T before

fairimum · 09/01/2009 17:26

What about Obaby XI Twin?
cgi.ebay.co.uk/OBABY-XI-TWIN-BLACK-RED-BLACK-GREEN_W0QQitemZ400020708958QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Baby_B abyTravelPushchairsGL?hash=item400020708958&trksid=p3286.c0.m14&trkparms=72%3A1298|66%3A2|65%3A1 2|39%3A1|240%3A1318

looks like Phil & Teds but much cheaper - had a quick look for reviews and seem good!?

nicolamumof3 · 09/01/2009 17:33

I wouldn't pay that for an obaby when you can get brand new camo p&ts with doubles and cocoon for £299 on kiddicare?? quality must be better.
