Sorry...another double pushchair question

Does a double buggy exist that is side by side, easy to push, fits through a standard doorway and compact when folded? Not looking much i know!!

I am currently 38 wks pregnant and DD is 18 months old. DH says that I won't need a double buggy but reading through other threads I think that I will. I'm trying to get sorted out in my head one that will be most useful for my needs, rather than when I have a newborn and will be sleep deprived and pick out the first one I see.

Or has anyone managed with this age gap without a double buggy, I currently have a pliko p3

Thanks

if you have a pliko p3 and have the bassinet option, love the ability to click in a car seat and hae proper sun coverage its got to be mountain buggy double if you have the dosh, city classic baby jogger jogger if you have dosh but not as much, and city mini double if your prepared to forego the bassinet and don't have very much cash at all. City mini still can take a car seat, can fold very easily, relatively small, narrow and lightweight, but doesn't push as beautifully as other two options

thanks will look these up tomorrow when I have time

Ds will be 18m when number 2 is due. I don't drive so need to get on and off of busses and am getting a tandem.
I have heard that the Maclaren side by side is the narrowest and easiest, but haven't as yet tried any.

ShirleyL · 05/12/2008 10:03

littleboyblue was looking at the maclaren as well but I think I read on another thread somewhere that it gets very heavy to push. Do you know what tandem you are going for yet?

naomi83 thanks for these do you know how small they are when folded? The mountain buggy looks perfect but sadly I don't think I will ever be able to persuade DH to spend that money especially this time of year

Shirley Im going for the Cossatto (not sure about the spelling), it's black with grey leopard print like hoods. I've never tried to post a link before. If I can find a picture of it, I'll attempt it.

Any double pushchair you get is going to be heavy to push, the tandems especially as will be very front heavy and harder to get up and down curb.
I'd be getting the Maclaren if I didn't have to get so many buses.

ShirleyL · 07/12/2008 14:11

Thats the thing thats utting me off a tandem, I very rarely use public transport but would like a side by side that fits easy enough in and out of shops etc.

Does anyone own this buggy and give any opinions on it please?

I have the baby jogger city mini and it's ace! Compared to the bruin you linked to, it weighs less but the seats seem much bigger and looks like the wheels are bigger thus easier to push. I find mine a doddle pushing although not on rough terrain, for that you need something with air tyres. What about a nipper 360 double, has air tyres, weighs 10kg and folds up v.easy, great to push. Little bit wider than the MB and the baby jogger though. Good prices to pick up 2nd hand.

mountain buggy is lovely, but is NOT compact when folded.
I can only jsut fit it in the boot of a renault scenic.

ShirleyL · 08/12/2008 18:00

thanks thisisyesterday thats mountain buggy out then.

accessorizequeeen what is the city mini like folded? Don't need to worry about rough terrain as I mostly walk in the town.

Any thoughts out there on the M&P twin Aria? Thought maybe it could be useful as you can attach the car seat to it as well.

Thanks

my friend had the aria and said it was ok to start with but as the kids got heavier it wasn't great to steer and manouevre around.

that said, I see plenty of people using them!

I think the instep nipper is more compact than the mountain buggy when folded, and it's nice to push as well.

ShirleyL · 08/12/2008 19:17

thanks. Did she say what the aria was like folded?

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 08/12/2008 19:21

no, but it fit in her audi a2

ShirleyL · 08/12/2008 19:29

thanks i'm beginning to sound a bit obsessed about how compact they are . will look up the nipper now

hehe what size car do you have?
i mean, obviously an umbrella fold is going to be smallest, but some are quite long.
many fold in half, so are small but fat iyswim?

thing is, you don't want to go too compact if it ends up being a real pain to push either.

thisisyesterday · 08/12/2008 20:21

i can totally relate though, I obsess over buggies a lot. lol (and I don't even need one)

thisisyesterday · 08/12/2008 20:28

this looks kinda cool and claims to ahve a "compact" fold. but you never know how compact, compact is do you? doens't have a pic of it folded

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 08/12/2008 20:28

The smallest and lightest is the cossatto You and Me, or Bro and Sis, or sugar and spice. I have researched the market recently and this is easiest to push due to weight but is still weighted at the front so you can carry shopping on the handly, and isn't flimsy iykwim.

I had a go at folding all of the double buggies with a baby tucked under my arm as one of the tests and this was the easiest too.

I was hoping for McClaren wheels but these have been up to scratch so far.

bro and sis

I got the blue on though. DH thought getting the bro and sis was like saying to the world 'look how clever I am having one of each'

Hth

thisisyesterday · 08/12/2008 20:29

or this? has got the dimensions of it folded in the product spec

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 08/12/2008 20:31

thisisyesterday Are you following me? lol that other thread was WIERD no?

thisisyesterday · 08/12/2008 20:34

very!

ben5 · 08/12/2008 20:35

have you tried a buggy board. the only problem is if child number 1 is sleepy to

BibiJesus · 08/12/2008 20:36

We LOVE our nipper, but it isn't all that small when folded. I folds in hald but doesn't concertina-fold sideways like say a Maclaren umbrella fold type.

Does fit through most doorways though, even though it's like an optical illusion, you think "ooooh, no, never gonna fit though ... oh wow! It did!"

BibiJesus · 08/12/2008 20:37

half not hald

ShirleyL · 08/12/2008 21:17

thanks for these suggestions now more confused than ever again!!
Would an 18 month old be able to go on a buggy board?
am due next week am runnning out of time!

OP posts:
StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 08/12/2008 21:27

I didn't get a buggy board because I had a go of someone elses and kept tripping over it, but I am 5 ft 3.

There is also the smorph (google it) which is a fold-up side car but I don't know anything about it.
