Just took receipt of a fantastic triple cd of 80's 12" singles! Some fab stuff on there ranging from The Cure and The Banshees and Japan and Lloyd Cole to Curiosity Killed The Cat! Am wallowing in nostalgia as I type! Mostly one for the indie kids (or Mnetters previously known as such...) but some fab tracks.
Here's the link - but I'm not sure that it will work...

Sorry to bring us down, but does anyone know how Edwyn Collins is?

Aah, Flock of Seagulls - the singer had a huuuuuge blonde quiffy thing going on - The song I remember was Wishing (if I had a photograph of you)That song sends shivers down my spine whenever I hear it.
Does anyone remember The Kane Gang and their fab song "The closest thing to heaven?"
Oh the nostalgia! Cannot believe it was all sooo long ago.

,I'm getting all nostalgic now.I saw Lloyd Cole at Granby Halls Leicester, supported by the Railway Children. Also saw The Jesus & Mary Chain at Rock City Nottingham & still have all their singles upstairs.

Remember The Kane Gang too,Teenage Fanclub & Carter-Sherriff Fatman was my favourite.I was listening to the Stone Roses 'She bangs the drum' yesterday, that song never fails to make me smile.

Anyone remember The La's?There she goes was a fab song.

What eejit decided to put Simply Red on that CD? When I used to hang out in The Hacienda (), Mick Hucknall was invariably standing at the bar tossing his minging hair around with a real "look at me..I'm so famous..you all want to sh*g me" expression on his face. Most people were like - no, we just want you to shift your fat head so we can get a drink...

I would have put Echo and the Bunnymen on instead.

I saw Carter USM in Cardiff, Mirage...moving up on second base, behind Nicholas Van Wotsisface, 6 foot 6 and a 100 tons, the undisputed King of the slums...ooh takes me back!

Also saw The Wonderstuff (bldy brilliant band), House Of Love (they have reformed and have a new album out soon - very excited), The Darling Buds, Pop Will Eat Itself, Blur (before they were famous)..Mock Turtles in a free concert one blazing hot summer's day at Cardiff Bay - Can U Dig It? EMF - Unbelievable is one of my favourite songs ever, takes me straight back to being 21.

And who did the cover of the Stones "She's a Rainbow"? Saw them at the Hacienda and dh decided that was "our" song. Now I remember Ghosts (Japan, or was it david S on his own?) as "our" song - we seemed to do an awful lot of erm...things...with that crackling round on the turntable in the background (vinyl...remember vinyl?)

Ah...memories, memories. I had dyed black hair, wore short short skirts, 18 eyelet Black DMs, pale as death foundation, and a shed load of black eyeliner. Phwwoar.

Oooh thanks for that nostalgia kick - I needed that!
