Been done a million times; but I still can't find any solid wood white bunkbeds [sad]

Here are my requirements:

  1. No cheap/flimsy ones, good sturdy solid wood please.
  2. Must be able to split into 2 singles.
  3. Not boxy square ones.
  4. Ideally can have a truckle bed underneath.
  5. In ideal world would have a matching wardrobe, chest and bedside cabinet.

At a push I'll have to pay the prices and go to Aspace as they seem to be the only people who satisfy all of this.

Just thought I'd give it one last go on here in the hope of finding it a bit cheaper.

yes thats right mrsB. actually i really like those woody ones you linked to first.

Amphibimum · 11/07/2008 15:24

(boy do i wish id listened to mrsB in the first place before i wasted spent hideous amounts on 2 sets of undoubtedly lovely, but not significantly nicer than significantly cheaper and much more fun/adaptable alternative bunks.

I bought my two bunks from Flexa. I think they are fab. Very sturdy, with matching furniture if you like and can be put together in lots of different ways. They are expensive though, but I fully expect them to last until the children leave home (they have being dismantled several times including two moves including one with international shipping with no incidents). But they are expensive! However dh bought a pair from Ikea and they didn't even last a year before they broke, so I think that mine are more cost effective. Mine have survived adults sleeping on them and the children leaping about too. I have them as separate beds at the moment, but had an L shape prior to that like this:
flexa.net.dynamicweb.dk/default.aspx?ID=4218 here's a better picture: www.shopFlexa.com/FLEXA-L-shaped-Parallel-Bunk-Bed-with-Angled-Lad-p/cora81.htm

You can also get slides and tents which look great too

Why did White Company have to stop doing bunks?

Just got these for our children:
BedShop They must have been fresh from factory, had to leave the windows open for a couple of days to get rid of the smell of paint.

Nemoandthefishes · 11/07/2008 16:12

Joseph bunk beds any good??

pootleflump · 11/07/2008 17:05

No, not Joseph either I'm afraid. I'm just too fussy aren't I?

OP posts:
Amphibimum · 11/07/2008 17:52

yes. buy mine off me

then i can have the woody ones (when i find a buyer for the other set too)

mine are the blue jack aspace bunks. top quality baby

pootleflump · 11/07/2008 18:48

If only they'd been the white Jill ones I'd have had them. Are your other set blue as well?

What about this company ? here any good?

milge · 11/07/2008 18:58

milge · 11/07/2008 19:01

Urchin ?

muppetgirl · 11/07/2008 19:06
muppetgirl · 11/07/2008 19:07

lovely stuff here

Amphibimum · 11/07/2008 19:14

yep. 2 seats the same.
thought you didnt mind painting?

pootleflump · 11/07/2008 19:27

milge, I love Wigwam but they don't seem to do a bunkbed anymore. As for GLTC; their Brooke furniture is nice but I don't like the fact that it's partly MDF at that price.

pootleflump · 11/07/2008 19:34

Urchin didn't grab me either. Apprecating all your help though .

pootleflump · 11/07/2008 19:35

Amphibimum, just how many coats would it take to cover that blue . Anyway, the Jack is different to the Jill (Jill has spindles).

OP posts:
pootleflump · 11/07/2008 19:40

missblythe, the Nickleby bunk on your 2nd link looks almost worth painting... there's just something not quite right with it.

I like your third link as well- even though it's different to what I have in mind.

OP posts:
pootleflump · 11/07/2008 19:44

Now, in a perfect world this is what I'd have; bellemaison

OP posts:
Amphibimum · 11/07/2008 19:49

lol at 129.50 off of a 13 hundred quid bunk bed

um, suspect it would take many coats of white to cover the blue. youd be mad to buy mine

re end panels being in mdf, the thing with mdf is that it doesnt move, therefore you dont get cracks in paint at joins with age. apparently. the mark wilkinson kitchen all have mdf panels for that reason. apparently. the childrens furniture co use it too.

missblythe · 11/07/2008 19:57

this?

missblythe · 11/07/2008 20:07

looks quite nice?

missblythe · 11/07/2008 20:08

Oh, and here it is again, but cheaper:
