I find I buy things but only really repeat wear a handful of things that I truly feel good in. Can I have a list of clothes, accessories etc. you've bought that you've really loved and thought worth it and got a lot of wear from ....and that the same thing or a version of it is still out there to buy. Ive got to the stage in my life where I dont want to make mistakes with clothes any more and I really only want to buy stuff that lasts and is lovely. I know it's all down to individual taate but I'd still be interested to know what you've found. Ive always foundpeople on these shopping threads to be savvy about stuff like this.

As someone upthread has asked - I was lucky enough to have lessons in caring for cashmere jumpers from some very posh elderly ladies: Put each jumper inside out in an old pillowcase. Persil wool wash in the machine, wool or gentle program. Lay flat to dry, pulled into shape, on an old towel. Never use conditioner. Debobble then iron and hang on padded hanger. Should only need doing annually in summer if you always wear a fitted short sleeved vest “jumper protector” underneath and air them on hanger between wearings. (Belle de Notte do some fab wide necked vests, which don’t show at the neck sides at all.)

Your choice of moth repellent (regularly replaced/every 3 months) in the wardrobe, I like Acana sachets and spray.

My previous cashmere attempts had come to a sad end, but this method really works.

i just put cashmere sweaters in the machine on a hand wash and have never had a disaster. They are lightweight and warm. I also like merino wool. Whenever I’ve been lured in to synthetic sweaters it’s always been a mistake. They always wash horribly.

Other than that it helps to know what your lifestyle is like. What are these clothes having to do? I don’t work in an office now so my requirements have gone a lot more casual. It helps if you can work out your three style words ( google it ) which is not the same as dressing for your body type.

Yeah casual and comfy for me. Interesting about the machine for washing cashmere. You see, I wouldnt have dared withoit knowing that people do. I would have thought it would come out like a doll's jumper. 😂

You can wear Blundstones with prairie type dresses etc. Toast and Plümo sometimes sell them - and Solovairs.

Yeah that would definitely work

Have your colours changed a bit? pale blue doesn't always look as good on me as much as I did when I was younger. and weirdly I can now wear some off-white a by my face whereas that used to look terrible. Just interested in if you're noticing changes ?.

Yes the red tones in my hair faded and now i can wear colours i couldnt before

Now I’m worrying about moths 😆

If I find something I like and fits well, I will buy it in multiple colours (if available) or go and get another - especially jeans! Natural fibres if possible, material quality and cut over brands always! I buy a great deal second hand, my budget goes a lot further, and I love a bargain!

Barrel leg cords from Finisterre several years ago. I shuddered at the cost at the time, but they are an excellent shape on me and excellent quality.

A brown suede jacket.
A pair of deep blue bootcut jeans.
Black, leather boots.
A red sleeveless top.
A slouchy brown leather bag.
