I find I buy things but only really repeat wear a handful of things that I truly feel good in. Can I have a list of clothes, accessories etc. you've bought that you've really loved and thought worth it and got a lot of wear from ....and that the same thing or a version of it is still out there to buy. Ive got to the stage in my life where I dont want to make mistakes with clothes any more and I really only want to buy stuff that lasts and is lovely. I know it's all down to individual taate but I'd still be interested to know what you've found. Ive always foundpeople on these shopping threads to be savvy about stuff like this.

The best thing I did was get a clothes style and analysis. It’s helped me (finally) find out what clothes suit me. Some people instinctively know what suits them, not the case for me.

This is a good place to start for style analysis.

I know this isn’t exactly what you are asking for, but clothes that suit me (autumn/pear) may be totally the wrong shape and colour for you.

Good cashmere sweaters are worth the cost. I love mine and live in them. Cost per wear must be way lower than the cheaper ones I've had over the years.

I buy things - What are you buying?
but only really repeat wear a handful of things that I truly feel good in. - What do you feel good in?

StylishAndBeautiful · 11/06/2026 17:11

I buy things sometimes because they feel perfect and I know I will love them forever. They're usually not cheap. They suit my shape and my colouring and can be worn with many other clothes.

I sometimes buy clothes because I need something in a hurry or because it catches my eye or is cheap or because I feel I can't not by anything. They might get worn once or twice. (Looks at several sacks waiting to go to the charity shop.Blush)

Things in my wardrobe that I’ve had for years tend to be Phase 8, Seasalt and similar brands.

I don’t buy new clothes any more, I only buy second hand but these are the sort of brands I look for as they are well made. I don’t really follow fashion, I know what I think suits me and stick with classic styles.

Thanka. I'll have a look..didnt know about it. Thats a problem of mine. Buying things that dont really go together because they are different styles. I like boho looks and baggy stuff but I also like sporty and minimalist looks ...and nine of it really works togwther.

The clothes I can think of are mainly good quality and well made and classic designs.
I have some that were not expensive (e.g. Uniqlo, M&S, Gap jeans).

@Daygloboo , does it have to go together. Could you have a few little capsules?

I might wear jeans/leggings & hoodie, or a pencil skirt and slim fitting jacket/cardigan, and the the only overlap in the outfits is the jeans.

What about washing them? Does it have to be by hand? 😱

I second having help to find what suits you. I had a style lesson about 15 years ago. We discussed colours, styles etc. I can walk in a shop and know exactly what will and won’t suit me and why. It’s great.

I love jeans. Thats an obvious one. I like really good blouses in lovely materials. I also like unstructued or cleverly cut dressea that look great but are comfortable. I like.silver jewellery that's very modern looking in style. I dont like feeling buttoned up or in things rhat are too structured. I have a real aversion to blazers although they can look good on other people.

Blundstones- they’ll take me round the world and back, feel completely comfortable, like wearing slippers. I’ve had the same pair for years and can’t see the need to buy any new ones in my future. They’re so durable plus they look great.

Have basic jeans, trousers etc, which you can then adapt to boho or baggy, depending on your mood, by changing the top.

I find certain styles of jeans / trousers suit certain looks and other styles suit other looks. Im not sure Id wear a classic type blouse wirh very baggy or wide type jeans for example. . But maybe I'm wrong.

Blundstone | Official UK Online Store

I'd look quite strange if I mixed some clothes.
My gotos are all-in-one outfits like jumpsuit or dress, or jeans and shirt/t-shirt, or bright skirt/divided skirt and black top.
Home - athleisure, usually black or maybe olive or navy.
I wear Solovairs (better quality DMs) with many outfits.

I don't wear wide jeans. They need to be long and lean for me.

Divebar2021 · 11/06/2026 18:12

i just put cashmere sweaters in the machine on a hand wash and have never had a disaster. They are lightweight and warm. I also like merino wool. Whenever I’ve been lured in to synthetic sweaters it’s always been a mistake. They always wash horribly.

Other than that it helps to know what your lifestyle is like. What are these clothes having to do? I don’t work in an office now so my requirements have gone a lot more casual. It helps if you can work out your three style words ( google it ) which is not the same as dressing for your body type.

You can wear Blundstones with prairie type dresses etc. Toast and Plümo sometimes sell them - and Solovairs.

Have your colours changed a bit? pale blue doesn't always look as good on me as much as I did when I was younger. and weirdly I can now wear some off-white a by my face whereas that used to look terrible. Just interested in if you're noticing changes ?.
