The most deluded Vinted sellers

I’ve just had an item pop up in my suggested items - a plain white vest top from Zara, new without tags. She wants £20!! Would you even pay that new from Zara?!

What are your favourite nutty Vinted seller moments?

Depends, I bought a vest top from Zara and was shocked at the price of it tbh

but generally, no, yanbu

Basquervill · 21/03/2026 12:19

“ I just want my money back” they say, and I assume they haven’t looked at the same items for sale on Vinted that are a fraction of the price of theirs.

I also think the sellers who write to tell me they can post today are time wasters. Write to me with an offer, and say that, ok. But waste my time telling me you want a quick sale, without offering a discount, I’m already not interested.

Whatalunatic · 29/05/2026 23:16

I make a point of not buying from anyone who sells they’re selling ‘due to weight loss’.

Twisterlollies · 29/05/2026 23:22

Ive always taken the view that a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush when it comes to online selling. If I list something for £10, and get no offers for a couple of weeks, and somebody offers £5, I’ll take it. The number of people who reject offers and wait it out forever is nuts!

footbeds · 29/05/2026 23:23

Zara sells lots of things for more than £20 & if it’s a popular item often people can sell it for more than they paid for it.

MyArtfulGreySloth · 29/05/2026 23:24

I keep seeing sellers moaning on the Facebook group about people making offers, they seem to forget that after you add on the Vinted fee and postage your cheap item isn’t actually that cheap any more.

cantpullthetrigger · 29/05/2026 23:24

A lot of people are pricing items higher to counter against the 40% below asking price offers that come through.

if you don’t like the price and don’t want to offer, then just scroll on…

Seems kind of braggy to me. I’m too skinny for this now but it might fit you fatties 🤣

iminmemamscar · 29/05/2026 23:27

A pair of brand new Goła trainers that were £85 (instead of £90 in the shops). The seller said she would accept nothing less so no time wasters.
But why would you choose a £5 lesser price than the shops and be unable to return them if they don’t quite fit?!

But how is that any different to it doesn’t suit me or I don’t actually like it?

And someone else losing weight doesn’t make you fat

Gateappreciation · 30/05/2026 07:13

I agree that some people are deluded. I often think half price is too much as well, as the chances are the shop sold it at that price in the sales, and as pp said, by the time the postage has been added, the price has crept up.

I once purchased something, and before I’d even got home from picking it up, I’d received a message demanding that she gets her money straight away. Remember thinking that was a bit much.

HoldMyWine · 30/05/2026 07:25

Yes I price to sell quickly. I recently sold a dress for £20, that others were advertising the same for £45 upwards, theirs had been on for weeks and weeks. People want bargains. I’d rather get something than nothing.

SpareVanKeys · 30/05/2026 07:36

Agree the ‘selling due to weight loss’ makes me 🙄 Does she want a round of applause? 🤣 I’d still buy though

The photo search is handy on Vinted. Often someone is selling exactly the same thing at a different price

InfiniteTeas · 30/05/2026 07:51

I was watching a small AllSaints bag listed for £50. I offered £40 which was rejected, then kept watching to see if it was reduced at all. After a while I saw that it had been updated. The description said it had been reduced to sell - but the seller had put the price up to £85! I’ve just checked and it’s now £65. I’m rather fond of the listing now. It’s the oldest one in my favourites - everything else has gradually gone.

I Agree…I thought everyone on Mumsnet was injecting themselves with one substance or another…there must be thousands of tons of ‘oversized’ clothes floating around never to be worn again…until 10 yrs down the line!

Josephinemylove · 30/05/2026 08:31

I lost weight due to illness and took my chance to sell some items I didn’t really wear but the weight loss was a genuine reason for sale other than some of the stuff you read like “new without tags” (definitely worn and washed and smells of febreze !) or worn couple of times (arrives with mud all over soles and insoles that stink of cheese on some trainers !)
that said I’ve had some great items like branded sliders for my son which he wears for 3 months then I have to replace !

PorkPieForStarters · 30/05/2026 08:41

The weight loss thing - I'd think they're trying to say it's nice and they're only getting rid because it doesn't fit anymore. I certainly wouldn't feel they were trying to pass judgement.

And yes, I get annoyed by the sellers who message instantly to say they can send same day. The courier delivering times are all over the place so you can never guarantee it'll arrive that quickly in any case, and I'd hope a seller would send things within a day or two anyway.

Does anyone know how you can see everyone who has favourited an item, so you can send discounts? I've still not figured this out and seem to only get notifications (usually much later) for a tiny handful of them.

HollywentLightly · 30/05/2026 08:52

I'm still annoyed by a recent cf buyer. I was selling an accessory for £2. I usually post within a day but got a slightly arsey message immediately saying she needed me to post quickly. I happened to be able to so she ended up receiving the item less than 24 hours after buying. Then didn't bother leaving feedback.

Why take the piss?

I don't need a history. Worn once/a handful of times is more than enough. I don't care it's got tags on because you didn't return it on time. Or your husband didn't like it. Or it was for your best friend's wedding who called it off at the last minute. I just want multiple photos and what I consider a reasonable price. Oh, and to know if it's spatkly or not cos sparkle doesnt photograph well.

sapphicy · 30/05/2026 18:31

Didn’t post on time even though I messaged to remind her and she read it and ignored me. She then replied after the postage deadline had expired to say ‘patience is key’

VanCleefArpels · 30/05/2026 19:40

The ones selling a “viral” something or other from Primark or the TikTok shop (that I’ve never seen before in my life!) for more than the original price when you add the postage. Boils my piss.

Especially as you can’t return the item like you could if you bought it from the store…
