Skechers Slip Ins

zacsGranny · 01/11/2025 16:29

Looking for advice about these trainers. Are they as comfortable as everyone says?
I tried some in the Skecher shop, but was very aware of the hard heel, so wasn't sure if I would find them comfortable.
I need a wide fit, so no real bargains around. I can order online and get a 20% discount, but not sure if that applies if I go back to the shop?
I'm going away soon, and if I ordered online they wouldn't arrive in time, so a RL shop is probably best for me. £100 instore, so an expensive mistake if they aren't comfortable.
Any advice please?

They’re fab. Read the reviews.

FcukBreastCancer · 01/11/2025 16:32

Some were more padded than others on heel. Try a few on

Goldenboysmum · 01/11/2025 16:35

I wear them all the time as I have arthritis in both hips and can't bend to tie laces.

I love them and always find them comfortable.

Topseyt123 · 01/11/2025 16:40

They're brilliant. I now almost only wear Skechers slip ins. I have quite wide feet too.

My last pair cost £80 in a shop just under 2 years ago.

SammyScrounge · 01/11/2025 16:40

They really are as good as they say. Foot Heaven.

LamourdesTrois · 01/11/2025 16:42

I have a black pair and a white pair and I wear one or other of them most days!

Mintearo7 · 01/11/2025 16:45

Worth it in my opinion, a lot of other trainers are that price point and not as comfortable. Would do RL and try, as sometimes their sizes come up large. Also, they have some outlet stores so check if there is one near you.

JeffTheSquirrel · 01/11/2025 16:47

Incredibly comfortable, I’ve done 3 Disney trips in mine (if you’re not familiar, at least 25k steps per day). In Japan too, so constantly shoes off & it was great to not have to bend down all the time.

I got mine from Amazon for £56 - maybe worth look there for quick delivery?

zacsGranny · 01/11/2025 16:50

Thanks for all the replies.
I tried in a RL shop and the ones I liked were £100.
Can't find the same ones anywhere else.
They are Summit Best Choice and I need a size 5 wide.
There are other Summits online but I'm wary of ordering without trying them.
As I'm retired, £100 is a big deal for me.

I tried ordering from Amazon, but the ones that arrived weren't wide fit.
Wish I could find what I want on there as the others are going back

Yes, I tried in the shop and had to go down a size.

You need to try them on in a shop as their sizes are not normal sizes. Im a 5.5 E and in skechers Im a 5 D.
I think they are very ugly and why do you need a slip in unless you are disabled?
I am disabled and I won't wear them, they are not attractive at all with that big lump at the back. I'd rather use a long shoe horn to get my normal shoes on.

Oh that’s a shame. I’m not wide footed so just bought the standard in my usual size.

And to PP, they’re not ugly - I’m v slim and they’re totally in proportion. But comfort and convenience matters more to me anyhow, I don’t GAF if my footwear is “unattractive”. I think all the women who have abandoned heels over the last few years would agree.

Wearing uncomfortable shoes can absolutely impact your day/holiday, as I’m sure you already know OP! I hope you find your suitable shoes at your price point, but still a hard recommend here for the slip ins.

CheeseWisely · 01/11/2025 17:14

I bought some this year because I spent last winter wobbling about on one leg holding a baby and trying to take my shoes on and off for playgroups and soft play. They are FAB, so much so I’m trying to figure out an outfit that will allow me to wear them to a work expo next week that will probably involve 20,000+ steps. Last time I went my feet ended up bleeding in my ‘smart’ boots. I’m thinking long wide leg trousers so they won’t show much.

Primark do them - I found them very easy to get on, and very comfortable, and only about £20. I had been wondering about Skechers for a couple of years too, but didn’t fancy spending that amount if they were not going to suit. I have very wide feet too.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 01/11/2025 17:21

I had several pairs that I used to wear for dog walking. Until they'd been cutting the hedges in a field one day and I stood on a huge piece of branch that went right through the sole and into my foot. I had to walk home on that heel and have the branch pulled out of my foot in A & E.

They went in the bin, needless to say. The soles are not good quality at all and you're just paying for the brand name.

I have some the same style but cheapies, which I've been trying to wear in. Just can't get used to them, so trying to bite the bullet or I'll be crippled on holiday. My problem is that many are described as WIDE FIT online, but don't say that on the insole, as the ones I tried in the shop did. The ones I ordered from Amazon said WIDE FIT in the picture, but not when they arrived. It's doing my head in.

I think I might have picked up my pair in Primark from the men’s section - they always come up wider :)

Oh dear. I never thought about the soles.

I have a pair, I like them, but after even a moderate amount of walking on a hard surface, they feel hard on my heels. Mind you, my physio says to walk more flat-footed than heel first, so I suppose it’s good that they make me do that. Still, if I get another pair, I’ll go for something with a more padded heel.

waitamo · 01/11/2025 17:31

Would the men's version be any good for you? I often get men's Skecher trainers for much less cost than women's on Amazon, they seem to have a wider toe box which is what I need for walking. They look exactly the same. I use the same size as I normally do.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 01/11/2025 17:32

Any / every podiatrist i have ever seen has warned me off sketchers....

Thatstheheatingon · 01/11/2025 17:36

I love the slip on ones, I wouldn't wear them if I didn't need to remove them often, I have other trainers for that. But for sliding on and off they can't be beaten - I don't view them as a dog walking type shoe though more a shopping/pottering/work shoe.

Thatstheheatingon · 01/11/2025 17:37

I have a podiatry appointment later this month so will wear them and see if I am warned off!

Yes, I noticed the difference in price. But I only need a size 5 so not sure if mens go down to that size?
