Any recommendations? I'm thinking mainly baby/kids stuff, but household stuff too! I'll have limited time to explore....

plastic spoons
(dd's favourite toy - have them in pram basket, handbag, glovebox...)

towelling poncho for beach if you don't have one already

push-along truck

paper napkins

frisbyrat · 27/04/2008 12:29

This.

Sides inflate to keep the baby on the mat, wipe clean, and soooo cheap. Mine's lasted two kids now!

Mercy · 27/04/2008 12:29

I'd second the night light and the push-long toy (is it the pale blue one, MrsBadger?)

MrsBadger · 27/04/2008 12:32

that one

(will keep till his birthday)

frisbyrat · 27/04/2008 12:32

This is splendid if you have loads of cutlery to wash up.

The enamel breadbasket is gorgeous too.

Mercy · 27/04/2008 12:32

Also, packs of straws and reusable, sealable plastic bags (they are stripey)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/04/2008 12:33

this pushalong toy?

ooh x posts mrsbadger, sorry!

Great recommendations, keep em coming! You've just reminded me I need a dishdrainer as my wood one just fell to bits.

Assume you already have a changing table, but the "sniglar" changing table is the best 18 quid I ever spent. DD still uses it at nearly 2.

spicemonster · 27/04/2008 12:46

The little plastic baskets that hang off the side of your changing table. Wipes in one, used nappies in the other one. And there is a little insert to put water in for newborns. The insert for the highchair if your baby is very little.

The pack of tupperware which has about 20 pieces for about £2 is ace because it has loads of very small bits which are ideal for putting snacks in when you're on the move

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/04/2008 12:49

ohhh we have a fabulous changing table (antique pine, folding top, turns into shelves and cupboard) which has never been used as I always change ds downstairs plus he's far far far too mental wriggly to change anywhere but the floor now, I swear the boy has a deathwish! thanks though.

Great suggestions everybody! will def get some of that stuff, particularly the plastic spoons etc, the weaning spoons we have are tiny and bendy and when he grabs them the food pings off across the room.

VanillaPumpkin · 27/04/2008 12:57

LIZS · 27/04/2008 13:13

Their crescent shaped non-slip step stools, plastic plates and cups, wooden toys, kids plastic table and chairs, lights , kids rugs, Trofast storage, teaspoons ...

OracleInaCoracle · 27/04/2008 13:14

ds loves their plastic cutlery to match then plates/bowls/cups. pack of 12 glasses for £1.99 here

OracleInaCoracle · 27/04/2008 13:16

this this and this too

Nbg · 27/04/2008 13:20

Their kids plastic cutlery is fab.
We have the bowls, plates, cups and cutlery and they've all withstood being thrown on the floor, dishwasher, dogs mouths etc
And they're only £1 or thereabouts.

That toddle truck is gorgeous.

Mercy · 27/04/2008 13:31

Nbg, it's really well made too. Ours is still going strong after about 5 years use!

Also their drawing paper & card packs are good value, plus the double-end felt pens.

The china tea set is good for 3+ too.

I really want to go to Ikea now! (even though it really annoys me sometimes)

Nbg · 27/04/2008 13:35

I have got a toddle truck. Its an ELC one that came with some wooden bricks but its about 3 years old now and a bit battered.

The craft stuff sounds good too Mercy.

Might have to send my SIL.

Mercy · 27/04/2008 13:42

If you do decide to get the truck it's possible to adjust the wheels to slow motion so a young toddler won't go racing off and fall over.

Nbg · 27/04/2008 13:44

Now that is a good idea.

I'm just debating the folding drawing board thing and a roll of paper

Why do I look at these threads.

frisbyrat · 27/04/2008 21:18

What did you get?
