They really are.

We have had ours since 2002.
Luckily we bought an extra waranty to cover any problems we had with it.
It has now run out and every year in that Waranty we have had to have something replaced on it.

Now our fan belt has gone on it so I can't hoover up using the blasted thing upright, I have to bend my back and use the sodding attachments.
And not only that, the suction has gone on it.

Again.

So unless you want to prove me wrong Mr Dyson then I swear that I will never in my life own another.

Oh and my mum has had the exact same problems with hers too.

Hate the fact that dust flies everywhere when you empty the Dyson. Rather defeats the purpose.

According to my sister (who worked for some time on the vacuum cleaner department of the store who are never knowingly undersold) the old Dysons were good but that the newer ones are known for being not so good. This is great news in a way because it means that I am not making it up when I complained to hubby that our 2 year old Dyson is rubbish - total lack of suction - when our old one used to be vicious, but bad news in that my Dyson is rubbish.

Sister also said that, in her opinion, Sebo are good and very long lasting if you want an upright, but that Miele is the way forward if you want a cylinder.

I am thinking about a Miele now - especially if it is anywhere near as good as their lovely washing machines.

Our Dyson cylinder has been going strong for about 9 years

Has never broken down, copes with hairs from 2 cats. Love that I can empty all the fluff into the compost bin
