They really are.

We have had ours since 2002.
Luckily we bought an extra waranty to cover any problems we had with it.
It has now run out and every year in that Waranty we have had to have something replaced on it.

Now our fan belt has gone on it so I can't hoover up using the blasted thing upright, I have to bend my back and use the sodding attachments.
And not only that, the suction has gone on it.

Again.

So unless you want to prove me wrong Mr Dyson then I swear that I will never in my life own another.

Oh and my mum has had the exact same problems with hers too.

Do you have to buy bags for the Mieles though? I know they are supposed to be great, but I fear that my 2 heavily shedding dogs would mean shelling out £££s for ruddy bags all the time. I agree about the diminishing suction on Dysons (have a Dyson Animal).

morningpaper · 13/04/2008 15:00

You have to buy bags but bags mean greater filtration

and you don't have to empty it into the bin i.e. back onto the kitchen floor

SlightlyMadSweet · 13/04/2008 15:01

Oh joy...guess what I bought about 2 hours ago....

Nbg · 13/04/2008 15:03

I'm eyeing up the Cat and dog tt 5000
Its about £180 but have seen it online for £163, dont know the store though.

Right, now robbing that bank..........

SMS you'll love it to start with and then it will just fuck up on you

Yes that's right

It's great for a brief affair

But for a good satisfying marriage, you want a Miele

Two weeks of expert sucking is lovely but you really want a lifetime of reliable performance

JonesTheSteam · 13/04/2008 15:09

Ours was rubbish - kept breaking and we kept having to send it off to be fixed.

Then my mum used it and killed it for good (as warranty had run out)

Now have a Henry and love it.

morningpaper · 13/04/2008 15:10

You like your Henry but you haven't experienced the sheer joy of a Miele

Henry's fall over, have dreadful filtration, do not have onboard tools, and only have two suction settings, one of which is only good if you are Russell Brand and using it for non-housekeeping purposes

SlightlyMadSweet · 13/04/2008 15:11

TBH I was swaying towards a Meile - but I wanted an upright.

We went out to buy a bathroom, but DP decided to go and get a vacuum too - I asn't prepared. I didn't have my Which guide in hand.

If the shop we were at had Meile's I think we would have gone for one. BUT DP was in the foulest of foul mood (I think he has been lacking sex as I have been really poorly, and if he doesn't buck up he will be waiting another week!!!). I wasn't even prepared to suggest we drive around Leicester looking for Meiles.

And we didn;t get the Dyson we played with in hte shop and I am not sure I like this one as mch as the one we played with.

cluelessnchaos · 13/04/2008 15:11

miele here too, you can buy hoover bags online from miele direct, 5.95 for 6, and cheap delivery. The dyson was scratcing the f* out of my wooden floor

Nbg · 13/04/2008 15:12

lol @ Russell Brand

I'm glad I started this thread because I would ahve never considered a Miele

friend who repairs vacuum cleaners (for a certain, never knowingly undersold store) says they NEVER get seebo machines back, they're fab (he has one) and he thinks dysons are well not vg

bundle · 13/04/2008 15:14

ah yes, we have a miele, the poor woman's seebo

DonDons · 13/04/2008 15:14

my dyson is brilliant....... have had it 10 years, have 2 cats and have had house re-wired and no problems......

Nbg · 13/04/2008 15:15

Ahh but are your cats bald?

Whats this Seebo?
Must look

bigknickersbigknockers · 13/04/2008 15:16

I love my Dyson, before I had 2nd and 3rd children I worked part time as a cleaner using a Henry and I didnt think much of it.
DH takes our Dyson to bits now and again to clean it out and the filter gets washed and its as good as new, 3 years old and the last one we had lasted 6 years so no complaints about Dysons here

Boco · 13/04/2008 15:20

We have a sebo.
It's been amazing for years, very very good suction, but broke recently and cost £90 to fix.

bundle · 13/04/2008 15:21

sorry meant Sebo

DonDons · 13/04/2008 15:24

lol at bald cats! (no - both very prominent hair droppers)

MoreSpamThanGlam · 13/04/2008 15:26

MP - which Miele????

Nbg · 13/04/2008 15:28

Boco which model Sebo do you have?

OP posts:
Boco · 13/04/2008 15:30

I can't make the sebo link work.
It's a blue one. Hang on

K1 airbelt Komfort?

Nbg · 13/04/2008 15:38

Oh I thought they were carpet cleaners.

Do they all have bags?

our first miele lasted more than 10 years, but then diy killed it. i do hate the way the hinges always go on the tools lid but otherwise it is the best hoover ever. my mum's got a dyson upright and it always manages to injure me when i use it.
