preferably one that's sold in John Lewis so when I go shopping next Saturday with my BF I can have a look at it (before her DH buys it on his trade account at massively discounted price from an electrical wholesaler)

OK so I've probably gone mad wanting it to be on that's available in John Lewis, but I wanted to buy one from their, at least to choose one in their, and then my BF said that her DH could use his trade account (he's an electrician). He's never been able to use for anything big, as you have to pay in full (which I now can).

Really need a shortlist of 2/3 incase the "one" I like isn't in his catalogue.....

John Lewis Dishwashers

Requirements

Not slimline
Silver preferred....

All I can say is check the wash time. My 20 year old dishwasher (Zanussi FWIW) does a wash in 40 minutes flawlessly. My sister's new one takes 2 hours 40

It may well be green and all that but frankly who cares if it takes nigh on three hours to wash a few cups.

FAQ · 04/04/2008 20:25

oh well I'm presuming that most of the decent ones will have a timer on it......and I'll put it on overnight like I did with my old one (which has been broken since before Christmas) so I don't care how long it takes as long as the stuff is clean in the morning.

I have a hoover one that has done well for a few years with no troubles but they dont sell them - sorry!!

FAQ · 04/04/2008 20:28

well it doesn't have to be available in John Lewis.......I just want to be able to have a look at it in RL and John Lewis is the only place I can think of in MK that sells them.

we got ours from comet or currys or was it powerhouse before it closed down (it was a few years ago anyway!)

ingles2 · 04/04/2008 20:30

we've got this one
it's not silver, but it's got one of those false cupboard doors. We've had it 5 years now, never a problem, still going strong.

SaintGeorge · 04/04/2008 20:31

He's called Iain, he's 43, slightly frayed at the edges but you can have him at a discount.

Especially good with pans and anything needing that extra bit of elbow grease.

ingles2 · 04/04/2008 20:31

JL will only have a couple in the showroom btw

FAQ · 04/04/2008 20:32

I'm not having any men in this house thanks SG....

ooooo a Miele - they're supposed to be quite good...

For an extra £20 I reckon I could put him a dress before I post him.

Sorry, I'll go now

CarGirl · 04/04/2008 20:34

we've got a bosch which is fab, I'm sure they must do one in sliver?

LynetteScavo · 04/04/2008 20:35

BOSCH no complaints

SaintGeorge · 04/04/2008 20:37

Actually my real dishwasher is a Bosch and no complaints so far (have only had it a month though)

FAQ · 04/04/2008 20:39

We have a Bosch but no silver ones available from John lewis.

got this one

Highly recomended and has a 29 minute cycle also, plus timer to put it on overnight

DontCallMeBaby · 04/04/2008 20:47

Bosch and Miele are consistent good performers in Which reviews - equally good reliability though more people would recommend Miele to a friend than Bosch. On JL site, out-of-stock Bosch at £254 and most expensive Miele are Which Best Buys (March this year).

Parents have Bosch, v good. V quiet. We have Zanussi, not so good. Stupid interior layout.

FAQ · 04/04/2008 20:53

hmmm - think I'll stick Miele and Bosch as my choices then...

Qally · 04/04/2008 22:52

Miele is fab but expensive. Bosch is wonderful, and according to WHICH and my old landlady never break down - well, almost never. Don't be conned into falling for the way a SMEG looks - we did, and I've regretted it ever since (stupid bloody design in practicality terms, and overpriced for reliability).

fingerwoman · 04/04/2008 22:58

I have a bosch one and I love it. it's super quiet, has a timer, can do a half load, has an extra attachment specifically for baking sheets (that i've never used, but ds likes playing with it) erm, it lets me know when it needs more rinse aid or salt.

and it was the second cheapest bosch one available at the time, so even though not their top of the range ones it's still fantastci

ShinyPinkShoes · 04/04/2008 23:12

Anything by Miele or AEG would get my vote- friend of mine has ALL her appliances with either one and has never had a problem with any of them.

My brother's friend is a service engineer and says he's hardly ever called out to repair Miele's.

themoon66 · 04/04/2008 23:20

Another vote for Bosch here. Does a really quick 35c wash - takes about 25 mins. It's an integrated one though, behind a cupboard door.
