best - Green baby organic cotton cellular blankets. well worth the money. so soft. have got piles of mothercare cellular blankets which will never be used cos this one is dreamy. can't reccomend highly enough

worst - a fluffy outdoor suit with ears and mouse feet from baby gap - looks supercute but doesn't zip open enough to get on and off easily, my baby is small 7lbs, but imppossible to get in and out of the 0-3 months, and lo is too hot.

Best - muslin squares. I was never without one when DS's were tiny and DS2 at 4.5 still takes one to be with him every night. No disaster if it gets lost(unlike a special toy), as we have lots.

Worst - cheap tomy baby sling - always felt like I needed to hold DS too.

TotalChaos · 18/02/2008 21:57

Best - plastic bath support thingy that lies down in the bath

Worst - baby bath

fingerwoman · 18/02/2008 22:00

best- moby sling

worst- stupid musical swing thing.
in my defence he had the most godawful colic and i was desperate. he has always hated it though

NorthernLurker · 18/02/2008 22:01

Best thing - my bugaboo - I love it!
Worst thing - new mattress for the moses basket - unlike her older sister dd3 hated it - but loved the bugaboo carrycot so we used that instead - she literally used the basket for two very broken nights, utter waste of £25! As a third time mother I should have known better.....

colditz · 18/02/2008 22:02

Best - a dummy
Worst - clothes that are designed by idiots who look at toddlers and think that that's what babies are.

piratecat · 18/02/2008 22:04

best-grobags

worst-swing thing, that cost about 70 quid, and my dd hated any movement at all, rocking, slight swaying.

she hated that swing!!!

nobodysfool · 18/02/2008 22:11

Best- Winnie the Pooh remote control musical toy-A life saver a night time.

Worst- Bottle warmer for the car lighter socket.Took about a week to heat up!

fletchaaarr · 18/02/2008 22:15

Best - Bamboozle nappies, or the tummytub (she loved bathing in that thing)

Worst - battery powered musical swing thing I think

jojosmaman · 18/02/2008 22:25

Best- muslin squares or dummy

worst- bottle warmer- sold on ebay after a week

pickie · 18/02/2008 22:25

best- kari me sling

worst- cotbed divider - what a waste of money

GooseyLoosey · 18/02/2008 22:29

Worst: nappy bin, any battery powered toy, baby bath and any clothes other than baby grows.

Best: good sling and gro-bags

MegBusset · 18/02/2008 22:30

Best: grobags

Worst: Tommee Tippee nappy wrapper thingy. Will blame that one on crazy pg hormones. Also, bottles/bottle warmer/carton of formula (he's never once had a bottle).

BroccoliSpears · 18/02/2008 22:33

Best: Grobags, muslin squares, shaped breastfeeding cushion.

Worst: Glider chair, changing table, steriliser.

PinkPussyCat · 18/02/2008 22:37

Best - Grobags, changing table (saved my poor old back!) and a chicco bouncy chair

Worst - Re-usable nappies! (grrr don't get me started! And to think I was going to be such an earth mother!)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 18/02/2008 22:46

Best - Babybjorn sling/carrier (had to look up the name as I'd forgotten and I don't remember paying THAT much for it) . Used it daily with each DC. Mothercare Urban Detour pushchair - used that daily with each DC too.

Worst - Door bouncer. None of 'em liked it that much and it was a right faff to use.
And any toy/bowl that involved a 'suction' pad. Pah!

melpomene · 18/02/2008 22:53

Best - bedside crib (so I could bf while sleeping)

Worst - top and tail bowl. Huge and completely pointless.

Clary · 18/02/2008 22:57

best: Babybjorn sling used solid for 10 mo x 3 DCs

worst: yes duchess, any stupid toy with suction (that doesn't work). Also stupid Mamas and papas highchair - 5 heights (why?) impossible to clean or fold up. Got an Ikea Antilop for DS2.

squix · 18/02/2008 23:03

Best - Muslin squares, very cosy bouncy chair, carrycot part of travel system that had to convince DH we needed

Worst - Bottle warmer, sponge bath support, swaddling wrap - she hated being swaddled

bluenosesaint · 18/02/2008 23:11

Best - plastic white bath support. totally does away with the need for an annoyingly large baby bath cluttering up the house.

Worse - bottle/food warmer. ours was given to us so at least we didn't waste any money on it ...

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 18/02/2008 23:15

Just remembered - although I didn't buy it, the best thing ever was a Boots points card. I clocked up so many points on buying baby stuff that I got our electric b/pumps, steriliser etc for free.

purpleduck · 18/02/2008 23:32

best a massive stack of small flannel blankets - used for everything

thermoscan

worst
-moses basket
-nappy wrapper thing
-baby socks (cute, but they don't stay on.)

snowleopard · 18/02/2008 23:36

Best - huuuge cotton cellular blanket - well i didn't buy it, I sent DSP to get a small one when I was just back from the hospital, and he got this enormous one. It is so cosy and lovely and now used on DS's bed.

Worst - thingy for sitting baby up in the bath. He slid off it, it slipped everywhere, if he actually stayed on it he just got cold, it gathered mould ... it went in the bin.

snowleopard · 18/02/2008 23:37

DP that is (DSP = ?)

Bubbaloo · 19/02/2008 10:22

Best-Fisher Price swing,Grobags

Worst-Bumbo,Blankets(never used them)
