Have got a parasol atm and its a pita as have to keep moving it depending on the sun angle so wanted something that blocked the sun a bit better!

Are the canopies any good? Have got a Maclaren Techno Classic buggy btw....

We have one for our Mountain Buggy and they're very good. Also useful on windy days.

Flllightattendant · 27/01/2008 15:56

...you have sun????

I have three parasols and have never used any of them since Ds2 was born last June...

Flllightattendant · 27/01/2008 15:58

You can get rectangular shades which are probably a bit better - also a thing called a 'shade a babe' which drapes over the whole buggy. These conceal your children as well into the bargain what I mean is they are not great if you like watching your child, because you can't see through them.

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 15:58

No its for our trip to Syria to see MIL in April.....won't be too hot there but should be sunny and last year the parasol was a pita so am doing my research this year...

...I have one for sale which is why I am bigging it up so badly...!

Flllightattendant · 27/01/2008 15:59

I'm not sure if a Shade a babe would fit a Maclaren - I will try mine on my mac and see if it is any good. Back in a bit...

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:05

lol at bigging it up...not sure about not seeing DS as I'm deaf and so like to be able to see him as it helps me to hear him....I appreciate that may not make sense to a hearing person

Can the babies see out though?

OP posts:
Playmobil · 27/01/2008 16:06

try a protect a bub, I have one and it fits on my Techno

Playmobil · 27/01/2008 16:13

I think they are called rayshades now see here www.earthlets.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=122

littleducks · 27/01/2008 16:14

i have a shade a babe on my techno, great for tinies as it cool and darker, my dd hated bright sunlight but last summer she only had it down to sleep (did make her sleep though) as she wanted a better view.

Flllightattendant · 27/01/2008 16:18

Puss I'm not sure if the baby can see out, I would imagine they are designed with something like that in mind but you never know!!! I haven't used mine. I longed for one when Ds1 was small as it was a very hot summer, but having seen one IRL I think I'd only use it when baby was asleep as it's so dark.
Saying that, little children do sleep a lot in buggies.

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:19

Oh I'm liking the Rayshade!!! Is it easy to adjust?

OP posts:
Flllightattendant · 27/01/2008 16:20

shade a babe

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:21

FA - thanks for that, have had a look and apparently they can see out but as it won't be baking hot when we go there, I think I'd be more inclined to go for the Rayshade so DS can still see out....

You could always hold on to yours in the hope of a lovely hot summer??

Fat chance in Blighty!!

Damn! Another promising sale falls through...must be my technique...

Ray shade looks really good actually.

Onlyaphase · 27/01/2008 16:24

I used both of these last summer with a 6-12 month old. Found the shade a babe excellent - keeps off sun and wind, you KNOW they are OK and not going to be burnt, so excellent for long walks etc. Doubt I'll be able to get away with using it thisyear though as she won't be able to see out.

Found the protect a bub good, but still let sun fall on DD depending on the angle of the sun. Also not good in breezy conditions! Will probably use more this year.

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:25

I think its because the weather is so crappy here that a full on shade thing doesn't seem necessary. Mind you, it does look as if you can take the bottom part of the shade bit away and just have the top hood part or am I being thick?

OP posts:
PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:26

OnlyaPhase - the website says they can see out - is that not the case? DS would go mad if he couldn't see out!

OP posts:
CarGirl · 27/01/2008 16:28

I've used shade a babes loads, yes they can see out of them. I have a ray shade as well but only to use on my rearfacing pushchair. I think the shade a babe is better especially if you are going somewhere hot hot hot or sunny sunny sunny IYSWIM

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:31

Can you just use the hood part of the shade a babe rather than the whole shebang if its not hot hot?

OP posts:
Onlyaphase · 27/01/2008 16:44

Yes you can just use the hood bit, but I never really got the hang of folding the netting bit away, and there is a lot of it to fold! The babies can see out, but it is fairly thick netting, so their view isn't great. Better than getting burnt though - I always refered to it as DD's burka.

CarGirl · 27/01/2008 16:47

you've got to remember they have the bright sunlight behind the mesh which is why they can still see through it okay. yes you can fold it up just use the straps to keep it up/back etc.

PussinJimmyChoos · 27/01/2008 16:51

Mmmm.....nudges flightattendant to ask if it fitted her mac?

Btw - what colour is yours and how much are you selling it for?

OP posts:
CarGirl · 27/01/2008 17:15

I'm pretty sure I used mine on a mac, I certainly lent it to a friend to use on her quest - she borrowed it the next year two so must have been okay?
