Avent non-spill beakers

I have bought 4 of these in the past, most recently 2 at the weekend...and they all leak.

I thought that maybe I was filling them up too much, but surely if this was a problem they should put a fill-to level line on the beaker?!

Anyway, I have complained to Avent this morning by e-mail, so no doubt I shall have to wait a while for a reply, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with their Avent non-spill beakers?

Tx

A BIG thank you to Soupdragon , the spouts arrived today! Hooray!!!!

SoupDragon · 09/11/2002 18:16

I hope Aloha's friend's ones arrived today too...

Hi Soupdragon, yes they did and she's totally overjoyed. Her ds immediately drank a whole bottle of milk (was seriously dehydrated) and then ran around hugging it and looking ecstatic...! She's so relieved and was planning to email you to let you know but I know her ds has a later bedtime than mine.

This is a fantastic result so thank you so much on behalf of a very relieved mum and a much less thirsty little boy.

Hurrah! I thought I had more but I know I had to throw 2 out as they split. I do know some of my friends used them so maybe I can track down a couple more if necessary...

Just to resurrect this thread. Does anybody know if the Boots spouts are just like the old Avent soft spouts and (importantly) do they fit the Avent bottles? My sister's Avent spout is on its last legs - in NZ and they don't have anymore there either...

Alternatively, Tommee Tippee look like they do something similar - anybody tried one?

My problem is different - my dd has real difficulty drinking from the avent non spill cups. Whilst she has a good suck on her she really can't seem to get very much out of the Avent non spill cups. I am in the process of weaning her and want to know whether I should persevere with these cups or try the tommee tippee ones or the anyway up cups. I was planning to use it onthe plane when we flew o/s.

I had the same problem with dd and tried loads of other cups, came to the conclusion that why should she suck her drink if I don't have to? We are now using the Heinz cups with handles (nicely positioned too) and there is no sucking involved, just tipping and sipping. They are fantastic!

leese · 17/02/2003 18:57

My dd couldn't get to grips with the Tommee Tippee at all - you need more than a good suck to get anything out of these babies! Even I had difficulty!

Florenceuk, The white Boots "wide necked feeding system" spouts do fit the Avent bottles.

I love the Avent Magic cups simply because they stopped DS2 pouring his drink all over the house. He used to do it deliberately. Once he learnt not to do that, he got to drink out of an ordinary beaker - sometimes without any lid at all if I'm feeling brave.

Agree that the Tommee Tippee were as good as useless - ds couldn't get anything out of them, and having tried it myself I can see why! What worked for us was the old-style Avent spouts (sorry - I know they're very hard to get hold of now in the UK), traditional (spouts but spillable) sippy cups and the doidy cup for use at home when spilling some wasn't so critical. Now ds is happy to use the Avent magic cups (which leaked from the rim at first but seem to have stopped now - weird!) though he still prefers a normal cup or "glass" (plastic, but you know what I mean) given the choice. He likes the sports bottle type caps you get on some mineral waters and still soft drinks too.

florenceuk · 17/02/2003 23:09

Thanks Soupdragon! Now to see if Boots have them in stock. Why did Avent ever stop making them?

eidsvold · 06/03/2003 12:41

well after trying avent non spill, boots first cup and tesco wide feeding system - dd (&mths) managed to drink from a tommee tippee ( hard plastic) toddler cup for the first time. I can control the tip and she just has to swallow - brilliant. Annoyed at the wasted money - the tommee tippee was a freebe from the hospital/dental association after her heart surgery!!
