just been looking on the peg perego website and they are bringing out a 'pliko switch' this year that faces either forwards or facing you!! wonder if it will be any good? wonder if it will be loads more expensive? just thought i would mention it as a lot of people look for rear facing buggies.

Hi everyone. I have previously had a pramette which I was really happy with. I am now on baby no 3 so naturally need to purchase a new pram for this baby. I have made a huge mistake of buying a Loola which is horrid as it is so heavy but I love the fact that baby faces me. My friend then tells me about the M&P Switch and I want one! Can you tell me what the pram liner is for? My son is 6 months so will I need one as I just want him facing me but obviously can sit up a bit to. I haven't seen the switch in the flesh. Is it more heavy that the pramette? I would be grateful for your comments.

naomi83 · 09/08/2008 18:53

just looked on the webiste, it weighs 11kg! my pliko p3 bought two years ago is only 7kg! that makes it as heavy as a quinny/bugaboo, so it might be easy to fold but it weighs a ton, with no big wheels to make it easier to push

3poppets · 09/08/2008 20:32

Thanks for that. I know when I was looking at reviews for the Loola all the different sites had different weights for the pushchair. Really confusing.

sheilagh · 20/08/2008 10:46

Hi All,
Have been to Hornchurch shop and M and P
I prefer teh colours in M and P
Anyone had any trouble with the one from M and P and could they tell me how it handles after a few months? Also did anyone feel the need to buy the 'footmuff' or does teh apron from the pram do the job just aswell? ( M&P price £375 at moment - they have 3 colours, and also a new colour but this only comes with the car seat and other things and is £575

The Hornchurch shop sells pram liners - the 'right' one ( I think the basic one is not padded enough) is about £35. I didnt really like the peg perego cahnge bag so wasnt interested in this being 'thrown in' so I would have had to pay £299 plus $35 for the pram liner. Still cheaper than M and P but not 4 me. - FYI = www.classiechassis.com

sheilagh · 20/08/2008 10:51

Hi
Also, M and P do a Pliko 3 at teh moment for £199 but it is not as flat as teh switch.
Pliko Pramette is 8.6kg, switch is 11kg, but this includes the weight of the whole pram/buggy thing - other pushchairs dont have this, esp not ones that are reversible (front or back facing)and those that are lighter are a whole lot less padded and comfy for baby ( but havent had baby yet so not sure how comfy baby needs to be?)
Any mums out the find that reversible isnt necessary?

I hate this idea that 'everyone buys another buggy' Should be able to get one that i dont have to upgrade!!

DAVA4KIDS · 28/08/2008 22:32

Hi

I've ordered a Switch in Indigo Denim from babybyes.com it was £25 cheaper than buying direct from M&P and free delivery!(M&P charge £10)

The Indigo and Balmain are £349.99
The Empire one is £299.99

I'd always buy a reversible pushchair because I love to be able to interact with my baby and it also helps with their communication skills.

lozza19 · 29/08/2008 20:06

does anyone know if it will fit in the boot of a peugeot 206

LittleCheese · 06/09/2008 23:00

hi i work for m and p and i love the switch, however i have totally fallen for the switch 3 in 1 but i refuse to pay the m and p stupidly high prices, when they seemingly provide poor service for their customers, has anyone found this pram cheaper elsewhere?

lozza19 · 09/09/2008 15:34

Hi Littlecheese, This is something I have heard quite abit and scares me a little, I have opted to buy the 2 in 1 from my local store instead of going direct to M and P,
why is the customer service so bad, If I had a problem with the pram after about 3 months are they unlikely to change it or repair it or is it just refunds they will not do?

sylviebee · 11/09/2008 22:27

Hi folks, this is such a great thread. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and thinking seriously about getting the Pliko Switch. I just have a couple of questions:

  1. Is the peg perego model exactly the same as the mamas and papas one (other than colour and lack of soft pram liner)?
  2. Does anyone know if you can get adapters to make the maxicosi cabriofix carseat fit it?
Thanks so much for any replies! Sylvie
sylviebee · 11/09/2008 22:42

hmm, and one follow up question to anyone who might know....
What is the P3 compared to the Pliko Switch? does it also 'switch' front and back facing in both pram and pushchair mode?
They are 200quid in the USA and my hubby's going there soon for work...
THANK YOU AGAIN!
S

katie2302 · 19/09/2008 12:48

is mamas and papas anped perego tkhe same make?

LittleCheese · 28/09/2008 23:32

hi sylvie I work for M&P not sure if you have had answers yet but if not her is the info
The P3 does not switch to front and rear facing, and also des not lay as flat as the switch, i would recomend the switch every time although i have decided to go for the switch 3 in 1 when we have #2

Peg Perego are M&P's surplier so exact same pushchair

Can not atatch maxi cosi car seat only M&P one

do you live in yorkshire? if so there is a M&P factory shop which i would advise taking a look at

HinaG · 29/09/2008 12:09

Little Cheese,

Thanks for you info - I have found it very useful!

I am considering buying a Pliko Switch 2 in 1 and was wondering the same as Sylvie - I havnt heard the best re M & P car seats - too raised for new borns - are they in your opinion or experience?

I was considering a Loola at first but read too many not so good reviews - that was after setting out to buy a Buggaboo so a big change.

What is the P3? And also is the diffence between the Pliko 2in 1 and 3 in 1 just the carrycot option?

Sorry - so many q's. One more - what colour would you recommend? They dont have much option but i was thinking the IndigoDenim.

Thanks.

LittleCheese · 29/09/2008 15:28

Hi HinaG

I dont really have much experience with a baby in the M&P car seat, all I can advise on that is that if fitted correctly it is one of the securest I have seen fitted and also that we are trained in store that our car seats are at a 45 degree angle which has "apparently" been deemed the safest angle

the P3 looks like the switch and you have a pram liner with it so baby can face you from birth, the main draw back is that baby cant sit up facing you and when in its most reclined position it is not entirely flat.

You are right in what you say about the 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 the only difference is that you get a hard carrycot rather than a pram liner

lozza19 · 29/09/2008 21:30

Hi Littlecheese,
when you say the drawback is they cannot sit up facing you is this for the 3 in 1 or 2 in 1?

lozza19 · 29/09/2008 21:39

Think I am confusing myself, is the P3 a different pramette altogether?

LittleCheese · 29/09/2008 22:09

Hi Lozza
the P3 (Pliko +) is basicly a forward facing pushchair which you put a soft pram liner into to make it a rear facing pram www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-pliko-cosmos/187274900/type-i/

the pramette is a forward facing pushchair with an in built pram liner to make a rear facing pram
www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-pliko-pramette-polka/1857830/type-i/

switch 2 in 1 has a pushchair seat which can be taken off the chassis and face either forward or rear, this also comes with a soft pram liner to make a rear facing pram for a new born
www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-pliko-switch-2-in-1-indigo-denim/185684400/type-i/

s witch 3 in 1 has the same seat as the 2 in 1 but a hard carrycot rather than a soft pram liner
www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-pliko-switch-3-in-1-with-primo-viaggio-ip-car-seat-pri m/i00200064/type-i/

hope thats not just confused you even more lol

HinaG · 30/09/2008 15:30

Does anyone else have any comments or have you read any reviews re the M & P car seats?

I was told by a sales assistant in an independent shop that they are also not the best due to how upright they are. But that is only for the first 3 or 4 months.

lozza19 · 30/09/2008 16:59

Thanks so much Littlecheese all understood lol

naomi83 · 01/10/2008 18:55

we have a prima viaggio peg perego car seat, hand i'm desperate to get a maxi cosi or britax before number 2 comes along. we've had the fit checked by a sales assistant and its fitted correctly, but our son's head slumped dangerously forward as a newborn, and all my friends with one found the same. The P3 with the hard carrycot is a great basic pram, and we're still using it 18 months later as our main buggy (didn't need to upgrade, unlike our friends with bugaboos) but i would take the car seat back now and swap it, it might be a bargain but its a terrible car seat. read reveiw online and you'll see.

HinaG · 01/10/2008 22:24

Hi Naomi,

I assume you mean the M & P car seat is rubbish?! I read the same reviews on Ciao, and Review Centre. I am keen to get a system where at least I have the option to use the car seat if need be. I have been put off the M & P for this reason for the time being but may just buy the 2 in 1 anyway and not have the travel option.

Have read nothing but good about the Maxicosi!

naomi83 · 02/10/2008 12:09

M&P car seats are the same as peg perego. i've also heard only good about maxi cosi. M&P/ peg perego buggies are generally pretty study and good all rounders, and toddlers love the free harness and the way it sits so upright

LynnR · 13/10/2008 09:45

I have just ordered the Pliko 2 in 1 Switch for January. I'm definitely fed-up looking at prams and reading reviews as it get's so confusing so decided that a decision was needed! I really like the practicalities (and look) of this type of pram. I went for the 2 in 1 rather than the pramette due to it being slightly bigger (still liked the pramette though). Does anyone have experience either with the 2 in 1 or pramette on the following aspects which I hope are ok (and will put my mind at rest!):

  • I think the pram liner is comfortable enough in the 2-in-1 i.e. baby doesn't feel belts underneath. I saw that the silver cross version had a foam mattress in the liner. I think I'm just being paranoid (!) but would just like some confirmation.
  • Is the floating harness ok? I presume it's safe enough as a lot of M and Ps pushchairs have this.
  • Is the car seat that bad? You read so many reviews on the net which put you off things but I'm hoping it's ok as I like having the travel system. Although I know you shouldn't have baby in car seat for a length of time.

Thanks

Thanks

HinaG · 13/10/2008 12:46

Hi LynnR,

I can empathise with you and your feelings about looking for a pram - its so confusing and especially if you are a first time Mum.

I am still deciding between a pliko 2 in 1 and a Loola. Latter was my original choice but read bad things too so decided against. Now just thinking how much I want a travel system as am set on getting a Maxi Cosi car seat. If I do, then will get a Loola short term and switch to a stroller once a little older.

I do think the M & P pliko is really nice however not only have I read bad reviews but the salesgirl in an independent shop also advised me against the car seat. The Which reviews also dont rate them that well either. Of course if you dont mind not having a travel system then its fine. But then it would be nice for all the money you are spending to have that option.

I stop plenty of Mums in the street to ask if they like their pram. Not seen many M & P simce I read about the car seat, but in general they do say they love their M & P, just heavy.

I cant assist in any of your other queries but if you check the reviews on ReviewCentre and Ciao I think you can make you own mind up about the car seat.

Bare in mind that the older car seats were good. Therefore good reviews. Not sure when they changed style, but the newer reviews arnt that good. Check the date of posting!
