Baby carriers (again!)

Hi everyone

I've got a Freedom sling but i dont like it because i just dont feel safe with it.

I'd like to get a "structured" baby carrier, one that i can pick up, strap on to me and plonk the baby in, but obviously it has to be ergonomically friendly for the baby too and offer good support. They must be able to cater for larger mothers too and obviously offer good head support for my 5 week old DD.

What can you recommend me please? Hope i'm not asking too much!

But you've just said the froggy position is NOT good and now you're saying it's the best position? Sorry, i'm getting confused

No I didn't. I said

"Facing outwards without legs tucked in froggy style is not good for babies hips"

RGP I think you need to a bit of careful adjustment through the rings when you tighten them when she is asleep. You can be quite selective with which bit of the fabric you are pulling so the bit behind her kneck is tighter than the bit going up her head.

PI - sorry, my mistake!

hols2008 - I've got an Ellroo Mei Hip for 9 month old ds2 which is great - hands free and more comfortable for me with a bigger one than having him in front of me.

RGPargy, I have a v. poorly dd so sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I emailed a friend who is larger than me and she said that if you are a size 22, you will probably need to look for a mei tai with XL straps. dd is quite ill and we haven't tried to get dh to try out the MT yet.

if you sign up to the yahoo group: UKbabywearingSWAP, you can put up an ISO for one with XL straps.

PS: just read you already have a Ringsling. here is a link where we were troubleshooting a ringsling for someone else and you may find it helpful. ringslings are fabby if you get it right. Have you heard of www.slingmeet.co.uk?
