What are you buying your DH/DP for Christmas?

Have done all my Christmas shopping - apart from DH as usual. Always leave him until last as I never know what to buy.

He already has an iPod, digital camera etc. Was thinking about one of the "Days Out" things but wanted to save that for his birthday (40th).

Have got him some CDs/DVDs from the kids but would like something special from me.

Just read this for inspiration. That vinyl-sorting-out thingy sounds good. ANy more info?
Got DH a painting from gallery by local Art Club of England Vs NZ at Lords this year which we were at, this was for anniversary just gone. Will dig out used tickets and stick them on the back. Can go in his "study" (tip). Lots of local art clubs sell great original paintings at a reasonable price (this was £95 very nicely framed).

One of the presents we've decided to get each other this year is a goat!

For a £24 donation to Oxfam you can buy a goat for an African village. When the goat produces a kid, the kid then gets passed on to another village.

Halo 2 for the X Box (hate it - all that shoot 'em up-ing, but it keeps him off the PC..)

A really nice shirt that I'm ashamed to say is FCUK (but the only evidence is on the inside label so I relented)

"Change the World for a Fiver"

"The Timewaster Letters" (had to get this as every time I picked it up in Waterstones I had to put it down before I peed myself laughing)

"Flanimals" by Ricky Gervais. I so don't get this but he thinks it's funny.

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Watcher's Guide, Volume 3" - I have Vol's 1 and 2 so obviously had to get the third somehow.

May also get him the Keane album and a Berghaus insulated coffee mug I saw in Millett's today (he has one already but it doesn't keep his coffee sufficiently hot, apparently).

marthamoo · 23/11/2004 00:00

Oh and I bought a mug in Woolies for £4.99 that comes with crayons - you draw on it then cook it in the microwave or oven and it sets the crayon. Thought ds1 could do a personalised mug for him.

Anteater · 23/11/2004 00:15

A Gravel yard (10 years of our muddy backyard are nearly at an end..)

lilibet · 24/11/2004 19:54

yoyo, I have the link at work as I didn't want to order it here. I'll post it tomorrow. It's about £60, my boss has one and recommended it to me as he knows how keen dp is on music.

yoyo · 24/11/2004 19:59

Lilibet - thanks. I'll check in tomorrow evening.

princesspeahead · 24/11/2004 20:00

I second the private eye subscription, I got this for dh last year (coddy's recommendation!) and will renew it for this year.
he has asked for some gardening clogs (!! how sexy).
apart from that I don't know. I've got a few books but need ideas. I can't make his main present a pair of bloody clogs!

bundle · 24/11/2004 20:01

pph you could get him the birkenstock trendy colours ones though?

princesspeahead · 24/11/2004 20:04

no, they are for gardening in, they can't be nice! have to be able to hose 'em down. and the annoying thing is that he has such big feet the only brand that make them big enough cost £24 when you can get perfectly nice ones for about £18. ah well....

lilibet · 25/11/2004 16:43

yoyo - I forgot really sorry, I will remeber tomorrow!

noddy5 · 25/11/2004 16:46

strawberry · 29/11/2004 09:22

DH is getting a shirt and Ricky Gervais DVD. Sounds like you want to get something more interesting than that for yours. What about tickets for a sport or music event?

jamiesmom · 29/11/2004 09:34

i'm getting my dp a dvd/video player but don't have a clue what to get him for his birthdayon 4th dec, 5 days away ahhhhhh! probably be jeans and a few tops

oxocube · 29/11/2004 09:44

Main present is a guitar then books, smellies etc.

oxocube · 29/11/2004 09:48

The record to C.D thing sounds fab too. I am computer illiterate though so sorry if this is a stupid question but do you need other equipment to go with this to make it work. We don't have anything to copy disks yet (is this a c.d. burner?). Dh has loads of records but our record player is broken. Modern music systems don't seem to come with a record player unless you pay a fortune for them. Would this thing work with just the computer?

welshmum · 29/11/2004 10:15

Digital radios -I saw the portable Roberts Sports one the other day at a show - it looks great and I think it's in the shops now.

lilibet · 29/11/2004 21:20

oxocube - no idea, but I will try and remember to ask my boss tomorrow - he has one and recommended it to me

Maudy · 29/11/2004 21:44

Star Wars DVD Box set
River Cottage Meat Book
Elle Deco subscription (don't laugh...it's the 3rd year running and he loves it!)

He said he'd buy me a pair of jeans from Hennes. I think I might take one of his presents back.

munnzieb · 29/11/2004 21:58

he's going to take money out of the bank and buy his own abroad. I will get a few little things... jumper/cd or somthing for when he comes back. maybe aftershave...

Allegra · 16/12/2004 20:58
