mate has had babay
am getting her some lovely homebakced delights in a ncie tub( doing tomorrow) and also a cuddly for the kid

am thinking rabbits are popular - long ears to hold
ds3 also lieks bean bags legs

what do your kdis like?

Something with beans in the legs - makes them dangle and easy to hold.

Dd has a sheep/lamb thing which she called Baa (was one of her first words)

Her favourite bits are the folded ears which she can fiddle with to get to sleep.

No noises/jingles.

Machine washable and dryable for pukey/muddy emergencies.

Taggies are good. Ds2 is a ribbon/label rubber extraordinaire but only home made ones. I sew ribbon round muslin squares. When he has one (when he's tired) he's as happy as a pig in poop. I wouldn't suggest doing home made ones but tuggies are nice and they do tuggy blankets too.

Luckily ds1 doesn't go in for that kind of thing.

You can get taggies from the baby sleep shop in Sandleheath near Fordingbridge.

It's Piggy btw - forgot to change back.

chocoholic · 28/11/2007 18:16

My DS had a comfort blanket from here. He still has it now for sleep time and it is easy to replace if it gets lost.

Wheelybug · 28/11/2007 18:17

Ones that are white and 'sponge clean only'.

Gimp · 28/11/2007 18:17

here you go

Wheelybug · 28/11/2007 18:18

Seriosuly though - rabbits good, dd still rates the 'jingle' in hers as important, something small enough for them to hold when little but big enough it doesn't get lost. OOh and easily replace-able.

Wheelybug · 28/11/2007 18:22

I bought this for dd to get attached to. She completely disregarded this and got attached to an older version (with jingle) of the smaller WHITE rabbit here

lovely comforters here dd has a bear.

jangly · 28/11/2007 18:25

I think it needs to be friendly, soft, animal (stuffed of course!) and big enough for them to feel they are carrying something with them when they go to visit and to snuggle up to at night. Something like this or the Spencer bear on the same website.

jangly · 28/11/2007 18:27

this is the bear I mean.

ProjectTartanArmyIcarus · 28/11/2007 18:29

If it is a PFB a lot of furries have labels with not for under 12 months on them.

Slubberdegullion · 28/11/2007 18:32

Both dd's have jellycats that are required to be inserted up nostrils every night to acheive sleep.

You need big thin earsand or limbs so rabbits and elephants are good. Big fat short arse animals are crap.

Also go for low plush/fur. dd1's elephant (low plush) still in good nick, dd2's rabbit (high plush) looks a beddragled mess.

both have bean bag fillings and have been thro' washing machine and tumble drier many-a-time.

well I would ever-so slightly disagree with the old frau. I think you need to give baby at least 4 months to decide if it is 'the chosen one' then buy two....or more (dd1 has 4 elephants ffs after incident in Boots).

so make sure anything you buy is still going to be availabe in 6 months time. jellycat v good.

Indith · 28/11/2007 18:39

Ds loves French style doudous. We have 2 of these as he can't live without it.

He is also a bit of a fan of the jester here The one standing up on the central picture. It has nice touchy feely bits on his hat. Moulin Roty make some great things.

JackieNo · 28/11/2007 18:48

DS loves his taggie, but also has this (which used to be DD's) and a similar bear in bed. Can't find the bear, but this site has a few - they're suitable from birth, and machine washable.

lololol at roadkill donkey

JackieNo · 28/11/2007 18:54

This is good as the hat's nice and easy to grab. DS's bear has a blue stripey nightshirt and a fleecy nightcap.

OliviaMumsnet · 28/11/2007 18:55

I love this donkey
He has a rattle and long ears to cuddle and is VERY soft

foxinsocks · 28/11/2007 18:55

those taggie blankets look good don't they. Have not seen them before.

I love a good jelly cat cuddly though.
