Snowman Night = Christmas Eve chez Greeny

we make little snowmen out of loo roll insides/cotton wool/glitter/fake snow etc and put them all over the house

then we decorate snowmen biscuits (gingerbread men with white icing/sweets etc) and eat them

all while listening to cheesy kids' Christmas music like Frosty the Snowman etc

then we change the kids into new snowman pyjamas

then we all watch The Snowman while drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows, out of our special Snowman Night mugs (they are little and have snowflakes on them)

then we put mince pie/sherry/carrot out and kids sod off to bed

it's fun

this year we will also be making snowballs for our Sweetie Tree (using white wool, you know that method of making pompoms using two rings of card)

and bollocks to anyone who thinks we're naff

It's all very well having all this extra crockery and stuff. But where the hell do you keep it?!

Greensleeves · 25/11/2007 22:16

That's really mean, cod!

If I didn't have small children, I probably wouldn't want to do it though, I would enjoy drinking wine and eating smoked salmon in front of the fire with dh, as we did before we had the boys..... but I DO have small children, and we all love this sort of thing.

You churlish old pilchard

white is good for dinner and good for certain things but a bit boring if you're not careful. my favourite bowls - for nuts/olive type things are black cereal bowls from habitat - cost about £3 each. favourite plate is a big rectangle with slightly curved up corners. stone colour. good for anything that comes in slices. other favourite is a huge glass bowl for strawberries. white is good for colourful salads
