much as i adore my loola, and parting with it will upset me, i can't seem to push it one handed with dd holding my other hand now that she is walking a bit more outside. that combined with my possible carpal tunnel syndrome, I need to find one that is easier to push one handed. I like the look of the pliko x-lite but i'm not convinced it will be much easier than the loola even though it is a lot lighter? i had a citisport a few years ago that was nice to push but didn't seem to fit dd1 for long? oh and it must be under £100!! the cheaper the better really as dd2 will be my last dc so can't warrant spending loads on it!!thanks ladies!!

ones with one handle are easier to push with one hand imo

Pickie · 21/11/2007 14:40

quinny zapp is really easy to push/manouver with one hand and so is the nipper out and about

Chopster · 21/11/2007 14:43

another vote for the nipper.

MrsBadger · 21/11/2007 14:45

agree those with a bar seem easiest - I'd revisit the Citisport, or the Mothercare Citilite (same kind of thing)

MrsBadger · 21/11/2007 14:46

the nipper is £200 though
ebay?

bran · 21/11/2007 14:50

Do you have a size/weight requirement? Mothercare Urban Detours (not the Vesta though) are very easy to push, but are heavy if you need to load it into the car. You can get them second-hand fairly cheaply, and they are very sturdy.

I haven't found the lightweight is necessarily easier as they seem to be more likely to jerk and jar when going over rough ground which used to be painful for my shoulders.

Perhaps something like a Hauck Infinity (Bugaboo type) might suit you as it has one handle.

mustsleep · 21/11/2007 14:50

i found that the the citisport was far too small for dd when she was 18 months though and the heavier the child the harder to push

the micralite is easy to push one handed and so os the zappyou

can defo rule out mamas and papas moove and zoom for easy one handed pushing for you

bugaboo also pushes nicley with one hand although a bit too pricey for a second buggy

have a look on ebay they have loads of pushchairs at the moment i have jut bought a micralite again [eyesroll emocion]

just sold my urban detour. i dont really get on very well with 3 wheelers. had an infinity but the wheel snapped off when dd was 6 weeks old!!

I find my Zapp really easy to push one-handed, and my 4 year old still fits in it

dd666 · 21/11/2007 14:54

the zapp is ok one handed till you need to go down curb (sp?)
have you visited somewhere like kiddiecare and tried some? i have silver cross pop and dd likes to walk too its pretty easy to push one handed

LadyOfTheFlowers · 21/11/2007 14:56

Zapp is great 1 handed.
Runs very smoothly and effortlessly.

mistlethrush · 21/11/2007 14:56

Mountain Buggy great. normally one-handed - either due to ds, now walking most of the time, or dog lead. Will go over v. rough ground one handed and easy to steer (urban version) - might get s/h for your budget - but definitely go for urban with swivel wheel not terrain with fixed wheel if you want it one-handed most of the time.

AnAngelWithin · 21/11/2007 15:00

i love the look of the mountain buggies but am worried i wont get on with it just like the other 3 wheelers ive had. plus its a hell of a lot of money!!

mistlethrush · 21/11/2007 15:10

We have used ours since ds 3wks - and now 2.7. Doesn't get used that much now - just when he's a bit tired or wants to eat his lunch after his nap when we have to take the dog out for a walk. Only suggestion is that you try to find someone that's got one that lives nearby and see if you can join up so that you can do a test drive!

Nearly always push with just one hand except steep hills (up). Will go over anything - kerbs etc absolutely no problem, and the urban goes round town really easily.

not the smallest buggy in the boot - and if you want to pack lots of stuff in the car its best to take the wheels off, but not too much hassle to reassemble.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 21/11/2007 15:36

Micralite - is good too push with one hand, and it can be folded one handed and stands upright on its own (iykwim).

I bought it on ebay for about £100 second hand) as i neded an easy to push and fold buggy for my 3yo and 19mo dc's. I find it very useful.
hth.

LittleB · 21/11/2007 15:58

I push my maclaren triumph one handed, it has two handles but pushes fine with 1 hand unless its got loads of shopping in it, i do this when dd walks. Mine cost about £70 new and has had loads of wear and is still going strong, it gets good reviews too, the only thing I have had to replace is the raincover but only because dd kept kicking it!

AnAngelWithin · 21/11/2007 16:02

is the triumph silmilar to the quest? i sold my quest cos i kept kicking it when i was walking!! gosh i sound a right fussy mare don't i?!?!

OP posts:
LittleB · 21/11/2007 16:13

Don't know what the quest looks like!

bran · 21/11/2007 17:00

None of the Maclarens are good for pushing one-handed IME. I would imagine especially so if you have carpal tunnel problems as the few times I've tried it I've knackered my wrist trying to steer one-handed.

TheBlonde · 21/11/2007 20:34

I think a 3 wheeler with a bar handle would be easiest... not sure if there are any under 100 quid

Maclaren one handed is a nightmare imo

LadyVictoriaOfCakeThe2nd · 21/11/2007 20:35

BOB!

but they arent under £100 and not in the uk yet

CarGirl · 21/11/2007 20:37

I'm with TheBlonde - a proper/decent "off roader" 3 wheeler with a swivel front wheel bought 2nd hand is your best bet. Have a look on ebay for easylife sport and xts twister they are bothe great makes very easy to push and go for loads cheaper than mountain buggy.

ProjectTartanArmyIcarus · 21/11/2007 20:50

Big wheels one handle. Swivel at front. Second hand three wheeler, urban detours are a very easy push.

I have found the bigger the child the more you appreciate air filled big wheels tbh.

CarGirl · 21/11/2007 21:07

xts twister weigh about 7kg which is very light which makes them easier to push than say the urban detour which is actually heavy for a 3 wheeler IYSWIM

pukkapatch · 21/11/2007 21:08

i used to be able to push my double urban detour, with two children in it with one hand.

well, not when elder one was three!
