sealed laminate is ok- if you've not had them sealed it might be a good idea anyway, otherwise you will forever be paranoid as soon as it starts to rain!

foxinsocks · 28/08/2007 14:11

I'm wondering why I have never heard of these things. Probably because there is always too much rubbish left on our floors anyway. I am experiencing a lot of for those of you with these fantastic Roomba/Scooba schedules in your life.

What is clorox? Sounds like some nerve agent.

DarrellRivers · 28/08/2007 14:11

how much vinegar do you use?

DarrellRivers · 28/08/2007 14:12

Corox=offical scooba cleaming fluid=license to make even more money

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 14:12

same as clorox!

DarrellRivers · 28/08/2007 14:13

thnaks

stealthsquiggle · 28/08/2007 14:16

so basically the scooba needs a roomba to clear up before it washes, is that right? (sounds right - our floor certainly needs sweeping before it gets washed)

Mhamai · 28/08/2007 14:16

Thick question of the century but how will I know if they are sealed, first time having laminate so a bit clueless. Does it mean they look shiny if sealed because they look a bit dull, no shine iyswim.

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 14:31

stealth- it depends if its just fluff or more substantial bits! our roomba automatically hoovers first but i daresay it doesn't nescesarily need it!

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 14:33

on the laminate qusetion- no idea, don't have it but know that friends have had to have it specially sealed.

Mhamai · 28/08/2007 14:35

Thanks, the guy that put it down has to come back to do the hall so I will ask him.

uberalicelongbottom · 28/08/2007 14:38

Is the roomba bagless? I'd guess so, looking at its size, but just checking.

stealthsquiggle · 28/08/2007 14:39

Mhamai - if you were advised not to get the laminate wet then it is not sealed - unless you paid lots extra for sealed laminate (each plank is sealed, not the finished floor, IYSWIM) then it isn't. Laminate in our old house was ruined by spills, etc - it's a roomba not a scooba for you I think!

Mhamai · 28/08/2007 14:41

Oh feck! do you have any idea how much it costs to be sealed? Is it very expensive?

stealthsquiggle · 28/08/2007 14:46

Where is it? Unless it is a kitchen or a bathroom I wouldn't bother if I were you - regular sweeping/hoovering and an occasional wipe over with an almost dry mop will keep it clean (enough)

Flower3554 · 28/08/2007 14:51

Just ordered mine. Yippee

Mhamai · 28/08/2007 15:02

No it's living room and hall and will be dining room too, but as I'm also getting a new kitchen, I'll obviously have to go for tiling which I didnt want to do arghhh!

VickyA · 28/08/2007 19:57

Noooooooooo!!! I want one sooooooo badly.... I have to knacker our Lindhaus to get one though, or persuade our cats to do an emergency moult and drive my spick and span hubby mad....
Hmmmmm..... Must come up with plan.....

Flower3554 · 31/08/2007 09:25

It's arrived, whoopee. Looks fantastic and it only took a couple of days to get here.

Thanks very much for the link wheresthevalium

Oh my god, I need one of these. Fantastic.

tribpot · 06/09/2007 19:45

Mine has arrived ds thinks it's his new toy .... (he insisted on 'reading' the manual (he's 2.2) a worrying habit inherited from daddy!)

tribpot · 07/09/2007 17:13

Btw, apologies for triple post but from a position of initial scepticism, dh is now actively spending his days 'hoovering'! This in itself was worth the 180 odd quid!

(In his defence, dh is chronically ill and literally cannot do the hoovering by conventional means).

Can I wait until they start making the Scooba over here, or is it worth the hassle of a transformer?
