Have now had it 2 weeks and I am in love

Not sure on paper, but it seems to pick up all the bits on our floor including all the dog hairs

Ooooo - just need to kill the Dyson once and for all and convince DH....

LilRedWG · 28/08/2007 13:42

How big is it? DH concerned it won't hold much.

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 13:42

stamp on it !

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 13:43

its the size of a large dinner plate- needs to be emptied after each room.

wheresthevalium · 28/08/2007 13:43

You do have to empty it every time it does a zip round, but a small price to pay IMHO

I have a base level roomba (came free with scooba) which i use occasionally but do like the scooba which mops my wooden floors in the kitchen once a week.
Once in a few months i do mop it myself, but it does do a good job.
My free roomba is a bit basic i think.Probably needs to be a bit higher functioning.

Aitch · 28/08/2007 13:47

what's the difference? [roomba virgin] do you just have a plug otherwise?

wheresthevalium · 28/08/2007 13:47

this is mine

It even docks itself once it has run out of power

OP posts:
Aitch · 28/08/2007 13:48

that to preggers, btw.
although while i'm here, does the scoomba go around rugs etc?

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 13:52

yep you have to rescue it from under the bed/sofa/behind the door and plug it in- not a major thing but when our base has been switched off i've always found it a pita to find it when it's finished!

michaelad · 28/08/2007 13:54

so, just to get this right...these robots hoover or wash floors all by themselves? So all I have to do is get the chairs out of the way and off they go? How do they know where to hoover or wash in any particular room?

Aitch · 28/08/2007 13:54

omg i've just watched the scooba video. i want one sooo muuuuch.

LilRedWG · 28/08/2007 13:56

DH wants me to get the Dyson serviced I may have to knacker it totally ('accidentally' of course ). Do you think dropping it from the bedroom window should do it?

Raggydoll · 28/08/2007 13:58

the roomba seems good value but the scooba is pricey and i need the scooba - do you think i could get a scooba for less than 200.

wheresthevalium · 28/08/2007 13:58

michaelad, yep pretty much! As I said in a previous post, it works on minesweeping technology, meaning it will go over every available inch of floor.

Not sure it will go around rugs, you might have to roll it up

OP posts:
wheresthevalium · 28/08/2007 13:59

Raggydol-love the name, they were doing a deal where you could buy a scooba and get a roomba much more cheaply, not sure if they are still doing that?

OP posts:
Aitch · 28/08/2007 14:02

what about the clorox solution for the scooba? where do we buy that?

DarrellRivers · 28/08/2007 14:04

The only place i've sourced the clorox solution is ebay.
Even sent my parents to USA on holiday, looking for the darn stuff to buy in bulk to bring back but they couldn't find any.

DarrellRivers · 28/08/2007 14:04

Yes i had the deal where if I bought the Scooba , i got a roomba free

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 14:05

use white vinegar instead of clorox- have also used flash floor cleaner before without a hitch!

Raggydoll · 28/08/2007 14:06

thanks wtv i'm googling like mad

The official website says that they do indeed go around the rugs

DarrellRivers · 28/08/2007 14:07

ooh the white vinegar, how much do you use , the same amount in the measuring jog with water for the rest?
it warns me against using white wine vinegar...doom and gloom , will damage the scooba etc etc
will it be ok on my wooden floors??

Mhamai · 28/08/2007 14:09

Can the scooba be used on laminate? It doesent mention laminate in the ad. I've just had new laminates put down and was strongly advised not to get them wet.

preggersagain · 28/08/2007 14:09

if you go on the scooba forums they all recomend vinegar, i don't like the smell of clorox, i'd rather use vinegar and a few drops of orange oil- mines lived with that combo for over a year with no breakdowns etc!
