What do people think of Quinny Buzz?

Hi! New to all this (chat and pregnancy!) had decided on a travel system for bump, only to find out that the car seat won't fit our car! Only one that will is the maxi cosi, which is compatible with the Quinny. What do people think of this as I liked more traditional, sturdier looking systems and am now really struggling to find a solution to my dilemna. Please help!

The maxi cosi car seats go on quite a few frames I think so it might be worth looking a bit further for more options.

cjt · 19/08/2007 20:00

Do you know which as they only list quinny and bugaboo (which i hate look of!)

Buzz has its good points but (a) the wheels are very wide apart so it takes up big chunks of pavement and (b) it really isn't suitable for off roading. Best bit is that the buggy seat faces forward or back - you will appreciate this so much when you first put your baby into the buggy bit and you can sit them facing you and watch their little face as they get to see out for the first time rather than lying down!

I really like mine, got it when dd was born and it's going strong now 15 months later.

I got it because of the gimmicky way that the chassis pops up easily!

Good points
Fits maxi cosi seat
Carrycot is nice
Forward and rear facing buggy (only ever have dd rear facing)
Easy to get chassis up .
I think it looks good

Bad points
Quite bulky when folded
Wide wheel base
Small shopping basket
Very rarely we have encountered a floor surface that the front wheel somehow couldn't handle, it was a sort of polished porceain floor tile and it just couldn't roll over it properly, bizarre!

I've got one, and it has just done three days camping and a week in Devon, has been on shale and sandy beaches as well as across tracks and fields. I like the pop up chassis, the forward and back facing buggy arrangement as well as the lying down (although ds only 11 weeks so not used the buggy bit yet) and the adjustable handle (the main USP for us). It is a bit cumbersome folded down, but I can fit it, shopping, DS1 (6) and DS2 in a Daewoo Matiz so I'm happy. I have bought clips for the handlebars for shopping bags as the underpram storage is rubbish really and only holds the raincover. I have had much admiration for it!!

love it love it love it. . Had a m&p ultima 3in1 for dd and various other pram BUT when we had ds 6 months ago we decided to get a new pram.

Im in lurrrvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeee with it !

cjt · 20/08/2007 19:49

thanks shhh - really fancied the m&p ultima so nice to know you had both, and reae facing is the USP for me so great!

Have you looked at the Buzz carrycot? It was one of the things I liked about it.

Ended up with a Loola, though, cos it was about the only one that fitted in our car!

cjt · 20/08/2007 20:06

ye want the whole deal, rear facing pushchair, carrycot & car seat, was the reason liked the ultima till found it wouldn't fit the car!

Maxi Cosi car seat also fits the
XTS Twister
Stokke Xplory
Mountain Buggy
Mutsy (with adaptors)
Micralite
Nipabout
Bugaboo

and a few others

ScottishMummy · 21/08/2007 14:05

buzz does not fit on/off buses
wide wheel base make it bitty cumbersome

but also think it looks good

FirstAtForty · 21/08/2007 14:48

Think about whether you will use it a lot for going shopping - and where you will shop?

I really liked mine but ended up selling it and getting a second hand Bugaboo as the Buzz was very wide to get through aisles and doorways, and the Bugaboo is a good 7-8cm narrower, which doesn't sound a lot but makes a difference.

The Buzz is okay if you're in a large modern mall, but a nightmare in smaller shops.

I found it not bad off road, nice and sturdy with good suspension (but didn't really do any 'serious' trekking in it). It was sturdier than the Bugaboo, which seems rickety in comparison.

I definitely wanted a rear facing one and already had the Maxi Cosi so it was a choice between these two for me.

However I do find as my DD is getting older (13 months now), my nice and narrow Maclaren Techno is getting more and more use, so may sell the Bugaboo soon as well!

Minicooper · 22/08/2007 10:22

Car sear also fits the I-candy systems. We've just ordered the Cherry which is cheaper and a lot lighter than the other systems on offer. We couldn't decide between the Cherry and the Bugaboo, but went for Cherry because so lightweight (about half the weight of a Bugaboo!) Prob not so good for off-road though, so depends what you want it for. Cherry also comes with carrycot, buggy and all accessories - and faces front or rear. Happy shopping!

preggersagain · 22/08/2007 10:29

pssst- the icandy cherry is the pram that Dawn has for Summer in Eastenders!!! just incase you wanted to check it out!

Minicooper · 22/08/2007 10:35

lol preggersagain Just moved back from abroad and haven't got into Eastenders again yet - would this have sold it to me or put me off buying it???!!!

preggersagain · 22/08/2007 10:38

probably put you off it will now officially be wanted by every chavvy mum in the country!!!!

But, i did giggle that they had turned the carrycot round to face forwards- WHY???? the baby is laying down and can't see out anyway- it just looks weird!

SORRY!! I'm not really pram obsessed!

ScottishMummy · 22/08/2007 13:45

i have the icandy apple as my second pram not used it much but when i have i like it

Kif · 22/08/2007 13:54

my friend told me her quinny tips in the wind.

anyone else found this?

i also read an internet review questioning build quality.

it totally put me off - yhough i think it looks fab.

ScottishMummy · 22/08/2007 14:05

kif if your friend is referring to quinny zapp - then yes mine tipped over spontaneously three times with baby in the car seat mode...
so i dont use it anymore

bilod construction on zapp is shocking - when i complained to dorel the manufacturer they were very nonplussed saying it is an urban pram only intended for short trips mmmm which they dont emphasise on marketing literature

so my quinny experience very poor imo avoid

ScottishMummy · 22/08/2007 14:06

i of course mean quinny has poor build quality and instability issues

Kif · 22/08/2007 14:13

does the buzz have same issues?

ScottishMummy · 22/08/2007 14:19

dont know never had one i avoid quinny

Kif · 22/08/2007 14:21

I'd be pretty if they'd fed me the 'urban buggy' excuse!

quint · 22/08/2007 14:29

Love the Buzz to bits - it is quite wide, but very easy to move around and I love the face that DD2 can still face me.

I highly recommend it, but if I were you I would go and see one in the shopd and have a go with it

preggersagain · 22/08/2007 14:54

quinny's are cheap and nasty (as in quality)imo, they are very overpriced and the customer service is appalling!

i personally wouldn't touch them with a bargepole but i steer clear of the whole dorel group! (inc. maxi-cosi, bebe confort, safety first, quinny)

Equally some people never stop singing their praises
