Which anti-perspirant/deodorant do you swear by?

Is there really any on the market that keeps you absolutely dry. What with the weather warming up and doing the school runs in the afternoon, I am yet to find one that lives up to its name. Your secrets to keeping dry please.........

temmy, I'd like to know the answer to this. I'm trying lots of different ones and am not impressed

mummypig · 12/06/2007 22:21

I swear by TRUST but it's an anti-odorant not an anti-perspirant, i.e. you do still sweat but at least it doesn't smell . Although I think I sweat less when i'm using it too. It comes as a kind of paste in a little pot and you only need to put it on every few days

[http://www.trustproducts.com/] and I'm not employed by them!!

saggers · 12/06/2007 22:22

Mitchum anti-perspirant

kittywits · 12/06/2007 22:23

not heard of those!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 12/06/2007 22:25

Triple Dry, PerspireX, or Driclor - all about £7.00 in Boots. One might suit but most will sting ouch!

temmy99 · 12/06/2007 22:27

I've tried Mitchum but didn't keep me dry, for long !!!

I've heard that botox is good for excessive perspiration.

sarz · 14/06/2007 17:09

I sweat ALOT, so much so that i think i have a problem, nothing keeps me dry for more than about 15 mins, and thats if i just watch TV!

The ones that saggarmaker suggested are good, you apply them every night and after about 5/6 nights i am dry and then only have to put on evry few days, but BEWARE the f-ing hurt ALOT! i dont ever get a good nights sleep when i have it on, and extra warnings if you shave before putting them on!!!

squidette · 14/06/2007 17:27

I use a crystal mineral deodorant called Crystal Spring - its like PitRok. Its very very good for odors but not so good for wetness. But then i dont think being 'dry' is that good for me!

I just bought a dove one and after one use I've chucked it. Rubbish. I'll try right guard next time .

Bouquetsofdynomite · 14/06/2007 17:34

Mitchum - you can skip a day if you're lucky. Very spunky though, make sure it goes on before your clothes LOL.

sarz · 14/06/2007 20:48

Bouquets, what do you mean by 'spunky'!!!!!!! where i come from that means the stuff that comes out of a man when he has had alot of pleasure IYKWIM

I currently use Mitchum, i am lucky if i dont have to apply 3 times aday, but like i said, i have a problem!!

nomdeplume · 14/06/2007 20:49

dove dry cream

I hate sprays and 'wet' roll ons

scatterbrain · 14/06/2007 20:51

Mitchum is crap !

There have been loads of sweaty betty threads of late - I alwasy recommend Perspirex - you put it on at night - not on recently shaved armpits - it stings a bit - you wash it off in the morning and I promise you - you will be as dry as a bone !

You need to do it 2 or 3 nights a week for best effect.

Driclor is similar. They are both available on Boots.com for about £6.50.

You don;y have to be wet - these products do work.

Bouquetsofdynomite · 14/06/2007 20:54

Sarz, that's exactly what I mean! Just smells different.
Does armpit hair (or lack of) make a difference to sweat production?

sarz · 14/06/2007 21:06

Bouquets, thanks i have now had to chuck mine away!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the arm pit hair, i am not sure if it makes a difference, but ithink its gross when you put deo on and it makes the hairs crusty!!

I am inspired to put on my driclor tonight, I will be posting 2mrw to say how much sleep i didnt get and how i had to get up in the middle of the night to wash it off and stop the pain!!

Bouquetsofdynomite · 14/06/2007 21:32

I remember the nice dr chap on Richard & Judy saying the trick with the super power antiperspirants is to apply them while lying down on your back. Can't remember why but it's worth a try.

sarz · 14/06/2007 21:43

yes i saw that! it so you relaxed, your supoosed to lye down for half hour 1st to extra make sure you are not sweating when you apply it. still hurts though!

Skribble · 14/06/2007 21:46

Mitchum doesn't work for me,

Dove works quite well for me,

Palmolive Soft and Gentle does too.

I think it is a personal thing, might have to try a few to get ones that work for you.

I find I am the same if I am hairy or not.

temmy99 · 14/06/2007 21:50

I am tempted to try the Perspirex or Driclor but what is it with the sting? Is this a side effect or the norm. I am willing to give it a go but not sure I want to go through the pain, its bad enough coping with the sting of shaving let alone with an anti perspirant!!!

Clinique mens dry stick is fragrance free, lasts for ages and is really effective. Saves money in the long run.

sarz · 14/06/2007 21:55

it stings me ALOT, but you should still try it, because i think i have an extreme reaction. I will just warn you, leave it at least half hour after washing so you apply it to dry skin. And at least 24 hours after shaving. It feels great when you have used it for a few days and you dont even get a wet patch after exercise!!

scatterbrain · 14/06/2007 21:59

Sometimes it stings me more than other times - I think it must et into the hair follicles or something as the sting comes a while after you apply it - as it's drying - almost as if it's getting into the skin and doing something !!

I have no idea how it works !

Sting is gazillions worse if you have shaved in last 24 hrs ! Leave it as long as poss !

I have to say the sting has never affected my sleep though !

babyblue2 · 14/06/2007 22:10

Mitchum - roll on stick thingy
