yes the largest size bins are fairly big plus you can rotate if you use the tall one by putting different crates in/out of their reach.

yup - we have two of them! We got the steppy ones - I was worried with the tall one that they'd reach to get the top boxes and pull the whole thing down (and they couldn't reach the top).

brimfull · 25/05/2007 19:57

thanks
I take it the crates are not included

was trying to decide whether this was better

how deep are the shelves? If they're very deep then that could be good but still a bit more limited than having crates to put stuff in. Also we have some of the smaller crates with bricks in etc and they can be carried downstairs for playing with.

We have the steppy one in the lounge under the stairs an a tall one in the bedroom but it does come with safety strap that you attach to the wall to stop toppling.

foxinsocks · 25/05/2007 20:02

no, crates not included - they slide into the trofast one (you can get larger crates than the ones in the picture that still fit in that, then you get smaller crates to go on top iyswim)

not sure about that white one - would you get crates with that, otherwise they'll just shove everything through the holes won't they?

popsycal · 25/05/2007 20:04

oooh dont get that
let eme fidn what we goit for ds1

brimfull · 25/05/2007 20:04

you want this
get a nice colour, turn it on its dside and either buy the expensive wicker baskest for it or the cheap 79p pastic boxes
it is fab

brimfull · 25/05/2007 20:07

foxinsocks-yes would get crates for some of the holes and use some for books I think

popsycal · 25/05/2007 20:07

get the 4 x 2 one....

AllBuggiedOut · 25/05/2007 20:07

We've got 2 of the long low trofast. It's fine, the kids (3 and 1) can use the drawers by themselves and big stuff like the dolls' house live on the top. My only criticism is that the the crates aren't as sturdy as they might be so they bend a bit when full of heavy stuff.

brimfull · 25/05/2007 20:08

lol popsycal see my post earlier I linked to that one that's what I'm on about

OP posts:
LIZS · 25/05/2007 20:08

Yes in various configurations ! Trofast is the better onen as the drawers can slide in and out an other is too high for comfort imho. We have a mix of shallow, deep and shelves(no good for books as backless). You get lots of Lego/Playmobil in them !!

popsycal · 25/05/2007 20:08

ggirl
yes!
expedit al the way but the smaller one if necessary
they are fab and sooooo easy to assemeble

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2007 20:09

yes. It has changed my life! We have an upright one, and two of the '3 steps' one. The children can tidy up EASILY, and get at everything easily. Plus you can keep things on top of them, so you don't lose floor space iyswim!

popsycal · 25/05/2007 20:09

in that case, ggirl, yes yes yes

brimfull · 25/05/2007 20:10

popsycal-what do you put in the the highest shelf bits

OP posts:
popsycal · 25/05/2007 20:12

i turned it side ways so 4 across and 2 down....

brimfull · 25/05/2007 20:13

aaah so you can use the top as a surface....brilliant!

OP posts:
popsycal · 25/05/2007 20:17

yep
fits all of ds1's stuff in the 8 compartments with stuff on surface at teh top

if i had 70 quid to waste i would get the baskets that fit perefecly in the gaps but i dont so have the ikeas 79p boxes which do tje job
excuse typing

Something like this is more flexible. Put three or four together. Making sure each square can hold a plastic crate of course.

We have a small trofast unit and it still looks good after 10 years. The only problem is that the biggest crate they do isn't big enough for lots of lego or happy street so we have to keep that elsewhere.

lyrabelacqua · 25/05/2007 22:18

We've got the three-tier Trofast. it holds masses of toys. it's especially good for toys with lots of bits (we've got two of the big drawers full of megabloks). Can highly recommend it.

misdee · 25/05/2007 22:22

we have both ggirl lol.

the trofast are in the hallway (we have amassive hallways which double as play areas. and the expediet thing is in my lounge, we have the 5x5, the bottom two rows are full with my stuff, but sofa is in front of it, am getting wicker baskets for the middle rwo, the top two rows have my dolls on and stereo.
