If you are looking for something really special to give to your dh or a really different portrait of your kids/pets, I suggest you try This

If you look in the gallery section you will see the picture of my dog, Ruby, at the bottom, which I had done for dh's birthday. It really is unusual and close up looks quite abstract, yet from a distance it looks just like a photo (it's acrylic on canvas). Diane's kids pictures are really amazing, I'm going to get one done of dd soon.

Just thought it made a lovely pressie and as you all have kids...

do you know I have only just realised it is a photo not a free-hand painting.

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:12

IT'S NOT A BLOODY PHOTO IT'S A PAINTING!!!

That's the whole point

It looks like a photo from a distance but when you look close up it is mad.

That's very kind of you CD. If I'm ever in your neck of the woods I'll take you up on it. Did your DH like the pic by the way?

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 17:39

He almost cried when I gave it to him, definite moistness around the eyes I must say I did rather an embarrassing changing rooms style snivel when I saw it for the first time!

Where do you live?

OP posts:
Chandra · 10/08/2004 17:45

Talking about changing rooms... check the painting in this , same artist?

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 17:49

No but similar idea!

Your dog is gorgeous CD. They are very different, just wish I had room left on my walls to put one up, it's covered in prints and kids art

juniper68 · 10/08/2004 17:54

My BIL is an artist (fairly famous) and also is writing a screenplay but he just emailed to say his pooter crashed and he lost loads of work TBH I just started backing up yesterday so I can't say anything

cellulitequeen · 11/08/2004 15:02

CD, I live in North Wales with DH, DS, DD (darling dog) and three DCs (darling cats), although more of a dog than a cat person myself.

Thought I might as well ask this here: where can you get a digital image blown up (without losing resolution) to a poster size? I'd like to make some pseudo movie posters for my son's room. Ideally it'd be a place that ships to or is in the US.

The image I'm working with at the moment is here , in case you're interested (or, better yet, have any suggestions for catchy phrases). Please disregard the t-shirt note to my MIL!

The movie will be "Brave Boy" and the tag line will be something along the lines of "Who needs superpowers when you're so darn brave?". That will be on the main poster. The one up will be something to do with Brave Boy leaping into action. (BB is my son's superhero identity).

Anyway, if anyone knows of a place that's not too expensive, please let me know!

Kayleigh · 12/08/2004 22:29

JJ, I love the pop icon print. looks fantastic.

JJ · 12/08/2004 22:37

Wow, thanks! You've made my day.
