I tried to put a pic on but it was too large. I am no help. My DH is a computer nerd and I still cant do it .

Take the picture, upload it to your computer.

On your registration page, there is a button to upload photos to your profile, click on this and it automatically browses your computer, so all you have to do is find the right picture. It helps if you give it a silly name like "THIS PICTURE IS FOR MUMSNET" then you can find it nice and easily.

I got very excited. I opened my pic in paint and changed it to 50%, and saved to my desktop, and still when I upload it chunters along slowly and then says "done" but the whole profile page bit is blank and nothing happens. Ah well. You are destined never to see a pictorial insight into my life .

Hmm, I already took it down to 20%. It is only 327 x something even smaller but still when I go to create a gallery and I browse, I choose the pic etc. It all looks ok, then when I click "send file", it goes really quickly now, says "done" at the bottom, looks like it has worked (ie. no error messages), but my profile page goes blank.

I feel so inadequate. I used to be good at computer things. I was the one people came to for help at work...

No, it goes blank. It has never said the file is too large but I was just presuming it was. It goes blank every time, and the pic is teensy now. We need one of those remote things so you can log into my PC and see what I see.........

Thanks LL, got to take DS for a walk now (makes him sound like a dog ), but will try that when I get back. Feeling a bit hungover and very tired this morning.
