thought that looked cheap if anyone is looking for a zapp

OP posts:
mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 12:48

yay!!! I knew you'd like it.

LittleEgg · 25/04/2007 12:59

It's rather wide isn't it?

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 13:08

yes, but turns so easily in such a small circle....

LittleEgg · 25/04/2007 13:22

But I have just got used to FINALLY being able to fit through doors with my McLaren, after using the Jane Slalom Pro for first year, and now I wont fit everywhere again...

I have checked I can fold it easily, and checked it fits in my cupboard, so I can break the news to DH over a glass of wine tonight rather than him being confronted by an orange monster when he walks through the door.

Think DS is going to love it as he will be so upright.

Have also checked I can get the raincover on quickly. I think it is rather SMASHING all in all.

Now all I need is a small baby and a maxi cosi car seat so I can try it out like that. Perhaps I will discuss this with DH tonight !!!!

fryalot · 25/04/2007 13:32

you will of course, have to call the baby either Quinny or Zapp

I suspect that I have actually been out of the house more than usual (even with ds's quite spectacular tummy bug) just because I have such a fab pushchair.

I can fit through doors with mine, the only issue is that the wheels are slightly wider than the seat so you do have a bit of a tendency to bump into things.

My neighbour saw me today and said that if I need to tell dp that she gave it to me (for free) then she doesn't mind not sure I'm ready for that level of deceit, but we'll see

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 13:32

Must admit..i want a baby to push in the carseat on it...

perhaps if you practise with ubby tonight he'll be chilled baout the Zapp?

LittleEgg · 25/04/2007 13:48

Now that's a plan! He will be so amazed that I have made a move on him, he wont CARE about the new Zapp!!!

Squonk that is FAB of the neighbour. I would maybe take her up on her offer but say you paid £30 or something. She wouldn't be likely to give you a brand new Zapp for free, but she might have wanted to offload it quickly and had seen your wonky wheel and taken pity on you...

Only an hour til I need to take DS out. It is raining though. With the hood up the pram is even more orange.

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 13:55

Squonk..you don't need an excuse..just tell him you couldn't push the knackered one any longer and that this was a bargain!!

LittleEgg...just pounce on him when he gets in...then tell him whilst he's wondering how he got so lucky!

LittleEgg · 25/04/2007 14:12

Hmmm. DS will be there when DH gets home, waiting for his bath with daddy. Perhaps I ought to wait until DS has gone to bed????

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 14:13

yeah...okay you got me there

But straight after ds's head hit's the pillow okay?

LittleEgg · 25/04/2007 14:19

Yes mum!

Should we not have some wine first?

Actually, I could get him drunk, and then CLAIM that he said it was ok to get one, but he just doesn't remember.

I really do think if it wasn't ORANGE I wouldn't be so nervous.

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 14:24

yes..but if h's drunk when he sees it the colour might send him silly!!

No I'm sure he'll be fine..just tell him how much DS loves it!! And it's so small when folded and in it's bag that he won't notice it..

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 14:25

are you North or South London btw?

fryalot · 25/04/2007 15:49

you've given me an idea... I'll tell him that I told him about it last week, and checked with him that it was ok to buy it.

S'not my fault if he can't remember a simple conversation we had, is it?

Even better, I'll wait till he spots it, then tell him that not only did he say I should buy it, but he actively encouraged me, and I can't believe that he has shown no interest in it!!!!!

(god, I hope he never checks mn to see what I say about him!)

mosschops30 · 25/04/2007 16:05

yay mine came monday too. Took me bloody ages to work out how to get it up, I was so frustrated with it (think Ive got it sorted now though) apart from is there any way to get the first bit out too click without pulling it with your hand, dont think this will be very easy with nightmare toddler in tow!

Anyway I LOVE IT i've only used it in the living room so far as ds been at childminders all week, but its so lovely and bigger than I thought when its up, ds actually looks abit lost in it compared to the mothercare jive stroller

dh is not amused but who cares, bet he'll want to borrow it on the weekend and I will make him take out one of the crappy pushchairs and keep my quinny firmly locked in my mini cooper boot (hooray something finally fits in there

LittleEgg · 25/04/2007 16:50

RIGHT. MASSIVE PROBLEM...

I have to go up some stone steps to get out to the road, and back down to get back to the house. OK going up. Coming back down, as I wheeled the back wheels down the top step, it caught the break so I couldn't move to get down the next step. Had to then take the break off, do next step, and repeat multiple times.

Any tips? They are quite steep.

Squonk - TOP plan!!!!

Mum - I am SW London. Where are you? Could look at profile but in a rush now. Back in a mo!

mumto3girls · 25/04/2007 19:10

Oh no...sorry you've encountered a problem..would it bew possible to do it in reverse..ie..you are walking backwards down the steps with the front wheel bumping down..(that way DC may not be leaning precariously forward too...)?

I'm in Surrey...south of Croydon. I used to live in Fulham many years ago...and worked in Victoria for a year or so. Are you near there?

bonkerz · 25/04/2007 21:32

am panicking now that i wont get my replacement quinny tomorrow! You all seem so pleased with your zapps! I WANT ONE!!!!
Went on boots and they are still out of stock!

LittleEgg · 26/04/2007 07:01

Hey bonkerz - you can have mine, except it already has a big scrape on the brake where it catches on steps................

Will practice today with DS out of the buggy to try "positions" and then try with his ten tonne weight in place.

LittleEgg · 26/04/2007 07:02

Oooh mum, sorry, am close to Fulham, am in Putney. Was in Fulham at the weekend.

Now I have outed myself...

mumto3girls · 26/04/2007 08:35

oh..i just wondered if you were close to me...i'd like to meet a mumsnetter and i've have no problem recognsising an orange zapp!!
Never mind...fulham high street used to be my haunt on saturday nights when i was 18/19.

LittleEgg · 26/04/2007 08:53

SURELY there are some other mn-ers near you? Strangely I used to hang out in Croydon when I was 18/19. At the Blue Orchid. What a classy joint...

mumto3girls · 26/04/2007 08:57

LOL..I've been there!! It's closed down now..probably due to all the 14 yr old girls that regularly got served there!!

Haven't found any mners round here did try and post on the meetups but I'm quite new as well so maybe will find one some day!!

LittleEgg · 26/04/2007 13:24

Well admittedly I was actually there more like when I was 16/17 than 18/19... it was such a "meat market". What a dive.

I am nervous of trying to meet up with any mumsnetters in my area in case I already know them in RL.

swanseadaddy · 26/04/2007 14:48
