I need to start pampering myself a bit, have let myself go and feel shite about it so need some beauty pick me ups. I'm sure I was slightly pretty many moons ago but lately I look like a haggered old bag and i'm only 28.

So what beauty product could you not live without ??

My budget is low but tis my birthday soon so tell me the not so cheap ones too

My must haves are EStee Lauder foundation, cheek glace by virgin vie, touche eclat and chanel mascara.

Rest I buy cheap.

saffy202 · 14/04/2007 21:05

I agree with Estee Lauder foundation. It is more expensive than ones in Superdrug etc but well worth it. I spent years buying cheaper foundations which were a waste of money. One bottle lasts ages and they will give you free sample bottles to test for the colour.

Blondilocks · 14/04/2007 21:15

I wouldn't be without urban decay glitter eyeliner & also some plain day to day eyeshadow & some funky glittery evening eyeshadow.

Also eye-makeup remover.

Nail polish for toes. Think bare toe-nails and sandals is just yukky & wrong :-S

Lipstick & lipgloss & plenty of lipbalm. I love the blisteze range for day to day lipbalm.

Blondilocks · 14/04/2007 21:16

Don't wear foundation.

NuttyMuffins · 14/04/2007 21:17

I shouldn't or you don't ?

Oh no foundation rocks. I resisted until this year (am 31), but it's transformed my face.

snowwonder · 14/04/2007 21:24

which estee lauder one do you wear

Blondilocks · 14/04/2007 21:27

I don't. Don't really see it's purpose & have sensitive skin so worry it'd turn me into a monster!

Don't wear too much or a wierd colour foundation though as from observation it makes ppl look really fake!

Beauty Must Haves:

Twinkling Lilac Lipgloss - AVON smells of cherries

Superfull Mascara - AVON

Smokey Eyes Eyeshadow - AVON

After all I am an Avon Rep

Thanks for the tips on Avon Tweezers - will buy some and try them out.

NuttyMuffin - Put a note into your Avon Rep asking for samples on foundations so you can see what shade you are. We do samples for foundations and lipsticks, we pay for them too.

Also, the Avon Reps have all just received a Beauty Book on how to put make up on, ask them if you coud see this too. Also, some reps are trained on how to put make up on. Maybe, if they are trained, they could make suggestions for you.

Thanks Walnutshell - will add them to my shopping list.

rantinghousewife · 14/04/2007 21:50

Bobbi Brown mineral foundation - heavenly
Benefit hi beam
Virgin Vie salt scrub, tried loads, this is the best one IMO
M &S lip and cheek stain - very subtle
Touche Eclat - nuff said
Ysl mascara
And for smoothing the face at night, also seems to shrink my pores - superdrug vitamin E oil, about 3 measly quid per bottle and couldn't live without it.
If you've got spare for lippy, clinique do some lovely ones, tender heart is my fav.

I agree Tweezerman tweezers - I also tried the Boots ones and yes I took them back

agree Touche Eclat

agree BeneFit HighBeam

and would like to propose Boots Time Delay Repair Radiance Balm. It's a pearly lotion and you just smooth a couple of drops all over your face, making you look fresh and dewy

FrannyandZooey · 15/04/2007 08:36

Oh and for mascara that doesn't clumpy, I am liking Maybelline Great Lash. I hate ruddy lash extending cloggy thick clumpy 50x longer stoopid mascara

snowwonder · 15/04/2007 08:41

i had forgot about the vitamin E oil i used to use it and will start to use it again think body shop do it aswell, it is a tiny bottle you only need a few drops as it spreads well and costs a few pounds

bigknickersbigknockers · 15/04/2007 08:43

No7 Radiant Glow foundation.

Maybelline great lash mascara.

Borjois lip gloss (beige elastic shade)

Its rare that I buy makeup these days unless I get a £5 voucher for No7 products, but I like the OP have neglected myself over the last few years and this thread has inspired me to go on a spending spree on makeup, and I shall try not to feel guilty about it

snowwonder · 15/04/2007 08:45

definately dont feel guilty about in indulge and enjoy

bigknickersbigknockers · 15/04/2007 08:49

I do feel guilty, in fact I have realised that my makeup bag mainly consists of No7 products... bought with the £5 vouchers. I cant remember the last time I bought any makeup that wasnt No7.

I did buy some Nivea DNAge face cream the other day, £15 well spent but I had to rush to the checkout before I changed my mind

ludaloo · 15/04/2007 08:51

My fav beauty product buy recently is Dove, Bronzing Body Lotion. It smells lovely, goes on evenly, a good price, and it leaves a nice glow! Not streaky and not orange looking.

snowwonder · 15/04/2007 08:54

i know how you feel it is definately not always been high on my list of prioritises, in fact i didnt start wearing make-up untill 18 months ago when my ex left me and my girls, and i kind of revamped myself and boy what a difference it made- to how i feel about myself etc...

i love the no7 £5.00 vouchers, i normally get my powder with them as i think it is to expensive (£7.00) to buy normally, - io have one at the momnet actually and was going to get the loose powder instead of the pressed one for a change(i know how to live!!!!)

bigknickersbigknockers · 15/04/2007 08:56

I dont usually bother with powder but I havent got any of that and as I have just about everything else off the No7 counter I may just go and spoil myself... with my voucher of course

snowwonder · 15/04/2007 09:00

they sometimes do some nice limited edition bits for the summer, different bronzer powder or eyeshadow etc,

i have to bother with powder unfortunately i get shiny face so powder is my saviour

enjoy spending your voucher

yogimum · 15/04/2007 09:05

Clarin beauty flash balm, but tescos do one of their own.

Christian dior mascara, and their foundation which makes the lines look less defined!

Touch eclat.

Eyeshadow for liner, makes eyes look softer.

A couple of therapist have commented on how good my skin looked and said I must be drinking lots of water. I have been due to breastfeeding. It obviously works!
