we are thinking of getting a dishwasher. Was just wondering if any one has one that they would recommend or vice versa, one they have bought but hate!

thanks in advance x

stay away from hotpoint

have one at my old work and OMG its the worst dishwasher i have ever had the misfortune to use. It rarely washes the stuff, takes ages and often we put it back on once or even twice

in fact its only 3 years old, still 'working' but my old bosses are so cross they have ordered a new one.

you cant go far wrong with a bosch or miele IMO

I once bought a top-of-the-range Hoover d/w which was recommended by Which and it was the single worst domestic appliance I've ever owned (after 8 years we got all our money back on one of those deals they used to do - it was over £400 about 15 years ago - but it was long gone by then)

I currently have an aged bog-standard Bosch and it does fine.

Does anybody know if John Lewis will fit them as well as deliver?

Pannacotta · 05/04/2007 21:40

yes they do but they do make a charge for it and i seem to remember its a bit steep, any plumber can do it and will prob charge a lot less...

We bought a Zanussi (£225 ish I think) not long ago, it's okay but I wouldn't rave about it. It doesn't stack very easily (the rungs etc seem awkwardly placed), and it only cleaned well after thorough re-jigging of the water hardness / salt dispenser / rinse aid settings.

I did want a Bosch (having had a fab one through the 1990s) but all the models we looked at in our price range had really annoying doors that slammed shut unless you opened them all the way down which would have driven me insane!
