Yup - especially when you have to balance safety with onw which actuially fits your car and lifestyle...

MrsEberleFunches · 24/03/2007 23:16

well yes, i've just looked the car up on the britax site (it's a honda jazz) and it's not actually coming up with an isofix match... weird. sorry, will be aitch again soon. although i did love poppy.

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:18

Is it a new Jazz???

MrsEberleFunches · 24/03/2007 23:22

pppffft. i wish. 4 years old. i'm really pleased with it actually. it's got spiffy things like a sun roof and cd player and remote locking! my old car had a 'go' pedal and brakes.

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:25

I am assuming 4 yeasr old is young enough to have isofix anchor points?

MrsEberleFunches · 24/03/2007 23:28

it does, yes. but there only seems to be 2 reviewed isofix seats and i've just established that the britax isn't a fit. ho hum. and the maxi cosi is soooooooo expensive.

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:35

Where did you see it isn't a fit? According to britax it is...

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:35

The duo plus is a fit that is - which I am assuming is the one you are looking at...

MrsEberleFunches · 24/03/2007 23:39

oh that's brilliant sms, thanks. i looked up their fit-finder and when the isofix seat didn't come up on the list i thought that meant it didn't fit. well done, really, that's great of you to do that for me. (although slightly geeky... )

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:45

If you look at teh front page of the fit finder on the menu type but on the right it says it doesn't include the 2 isofix seats in teh fit finder. There is a link which sends you to the table I linked...not sure what teh 'vehicle specific' columns actually mean tho - but seems to indicate it will fit if I have interpretted it right...

It talks about top tether which iis available as an extra. I would get this as I have heard that the lack of any tethering at the top is what lets many isofix seats down. Indeed Which say it is safer with the tether. Here is the full report fr it (which I don't think was linked earlier...

The Duo Plus is designed for children from around a year old to about four (9 to18kg). It can be used in Isofix mode, with two- or three-point (using top tether) mounting, or a three-point adult seat belt to secure it.

It is well made and easy to use with clear instructions. Padding is excellent and leg and head support is good.

As a two- or three-point Isofix seat, its crash performance is good, with loads in front and side crashes low. Best performance is with the top tether attached (i.e. three-point). As an Isofix seat, its all round performance is good enough for it to earn the Best Buy recommendation. Using belts however, the front crash loads in particular are higher than for the Isofix and it doesn?t make the Best Buy grade.

Pros: Excellent crash performance as an Isofix seat. Good all round ease of use.

Cons: Doesn?t make the Best Buy grade as a belted seat. Seat cover must be hand-washed.

We have a Jazz actually (fantastic car BTW), and will be looking for a new seat for DD in a couple of monts so I was gaining something from it at the same time

AitchYouBerk · 24/03/2007 23:51

i think the tethers seem to cost about 15 quid. tell me about my new car then... i haven't picked it up yet. what colour is yours? [girl]

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:55

Its DPs actually. Its the icey blue one. I have to say I have never driven it (he won't let me ... very spasious inside, but not too big on the outside, runs nicely, wnice driving position for all different shapes of drivers (he is a driving instructor so all shapes do drive it). V expensive wing mirrors tho . What more can I sayu having never driven it - althou I will one day!!!

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:55

Oh and I am pssed so my typing is CRAP...I am off to bed now. Enjoy your new car and your new car seat...

AitchYouBerk · 24/03/2007 23:57

mine's the icey green one. wouldn't have been my first choice of colour i'd have to say, but i'm not complaining. (well i am a bit).
shit, bad news about the wing mirrors. i live in an area where every so often the uni students get pissed and run up the street kicking off wing mirrors. so far it's happened twice to my wee car, which cost me precisely £50. how bad might it be if they do it to the jazz?

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 23:59

£300 for a whole assembly (all the elctrics you see...). Some kind idiot took it off cutting a bend. Could have been worse he was about 1/2 a foot from ending up in a ditch by the time he had moved as far as poss to avoid... He had only had the car about 3 weeks too...

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 25/03/2007 00:00

You can turn them right in though which is a plus. Doesn't help when you are driving along minding your own business on your own side of the road though

AitchYouBerk · 25/03/2007 00:14
