His infant carrier was up to 10kg. He was weighed for the first time in ages the other day and I had no idea he was so heavy. So I have moved him into dd's old Mothercare combination seat (rear-facing).This seat is 4 or 5 years old, and I would like to get him one which is probably safer.

Thanks loopymummy. Dh's car has isofix, but mine doesn't. Although I will be getting a new car with it in September.

Can you tell me for both?

Wallace · 24/03/2007 21:29

Yes, he can sit very steadily for hours on end (if he doesn't get bored!) But I am really keen on keeping him rear-facing.

Wallace · 24/03/2007 21:30

Thanks BTW, for all this advice. You are being really helpful

The Graco ones are quite narrow...we have one which is about 3yrs old and it is certainly narrower than our Britax of about 5yrs old...can't comment on other brands...

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 21:45

No worries - I'm kind of playing isketch anyway

Not sure...I don't think it was the junior we had...it was a highback one the highliner??

Or maybe it was the junior

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 21:53

Oooh your right... -JUne 2005

Ten inferior child car seats, exposed by Which? up to two years ago, are still on sale.

Mamas & Papas supplies three of the poorest - the Navetta Carry Cot, the Elan and the Passaggio. Britax manufactures three - Cruiser Plus, Ranger and Trio. The others to avoid are Concord Trimax X-Line, Meggy Kombi, Storchenmühle Starlight SP and Graco Junior Plus.

These seats all meet current minimum legal standards1, but either won't offer adequate protection in a severe crash, or are difficult to install, which increases the risk of injury in an accident.

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 21:54

It is the Junior we have and not teh Junior plus. I wonder if that makes a difference

And the Britax one is the Trio , which I have to admit as a high-back is crap to install (and we only used it in DPs car for 1/2 mile per day) so I can see why on that one

I have now......

....but which don't support any lay flat models for safetly do they?

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 24/03/2007 22:03

TBH we only use the Trio and Junior as boosters now. I can't see there being much they can comment on WRT the boosters alone, other than the fact I know they have to have deep arms to ensure hte belt stays routed (which they both do)

Have they ever tested boosters (not highbacks)?
