This is the pushchair a friend is considering for her baby, due later this year. She wondered what other people's experiences and thoughts were like of it; what did you like or dislike about it?

I will do a search on old threads too, but any info will be passed on. Thanks.

Anyone?

Think she is considering using this as a travel system, with the cabrio car seat that can attach to it.

ok, dont get a seconmd hand one unless you inseopct it first. i made that mistake and the steering was off.

recently tried at 2006 model and it was lovely. very easy to push one handed, no idea on travel system, but you can also use the dreami carrycot with it. you do need to buy a basket as extra.

the 2007 models have a smaller seat.

Hulababy · 12/03/2007 16:30

Thanks for info misdee.

AFAIK she will be buying new.

there are two current models available. the 2007 ones have a smaller seat which is very well padded (i think someone said memory foam but am not sure if thats true). looks very comfortable, but dd3 who is a small 2year old would not fit in it.

the 2006 model, the seats arent as padded, but they are bigger and deeper.

Mrsshuvel · 12/03/2007 16:45

I had a demo of one in Mothercare and was very worried. The guy was showing me how to change the position of the seat. The seat tipped up and baby would have been upside down! Then he was showing me how you can take the seat out and have it either facing you or away from you and the handle came away and baby would have been dropped! I told him not to continue with the demonstration as i was very concerned with it. This may have been just a faulty one and others may tell you it's wonderful but i certainly won't be buying one based on what i saw.

misdee · 12/03/2007 16:47

thats sounds liek a very faulty one!

I had a 2006 model. It was fab, great to push (though handle was a funny shape). Loved that it faced either way.
Downsides were that it was bulky folded and quite heavy to lift. Also the lack of shopping basket, you can buy one to fit but they are very shallow.
I much preferred my Jane Powertrack 360. So light and free standing when folded. Fairly good basket. Only downside on that is that pushchair only faces forward. I used it with Matrix rear-facing though until DS was about 13 months. These have been updated with the Slalom which look fab too.
HTH, M x

Ceolas · 13/03/2007 16:05

I am thinking about one of these too. I agree about the 2007 models being smaller. There are some 2006 models about, mostly on ebay.

I also saw a Britax Vigour 3 wheeler which looks fairly similar but with a shoppping basket!

I like the fact that the Quinny takes the Maxi Cosi car seat

percypig · 13/03/2007 16:13

I bought a Buzz recently as my second buggy.

For me the biggest selling point was that ds can face me, which he loves. It seems comfy, is really light and easy to push, get up and down steps, over gravel, on the beach etc. The footrest bit is also ideal for him to hold onto now that he can walk about himself, in fact he uses it to push the Buzz about the house!

The only downsides are the space it takes up in the boot, that if you use the bag thing it can get quite muddy and that it can open unexpectedly if you don't use the clip thing (as I discovered one rainy day - a schoolboy at a nearby bus stop had to come to my rescue before I broke my finger!)

I can't comment on it as a travel system, because we just bought the buggy. We have a Pliko travel sytem which is definitely easier to use in terms of getting it up and down, so we're keeping it to take on holidays (don't think the Buzz would travel well) and for future babies up to about 9 months.

Hulababy · 13/03/2007 19:35

Thanks. Will pass this on to here. Think the other pushchair she mentioned was also a Quinny - is one called a Zapp? if so, any comments?

Also any, recommendations other than these?

Hi - dd has had the Buzz since birth and love it - we used the carrycot a bit (not as much as we thought we would) and the car seat a lot as it was soooo convenient when getting her in and out of the car when she was asleep

The chassis is pretty wide but the wheels do come off easily which helps when getting it in the boot. The steering is great - can do it one handed - and I've had a lot of positive comments about how nice looking it is.

However, it is frustrating to have to buy the shopping basket separately, and you have to buy a Quinny parasol for the summer as the 'universal' ones in Mothercare etc don't clip on to the thick bars - and the parasols are like gold dust to find in the shops.

misdee · 13/03/2007 19:57

please tell her not to get the zapp for a newborn. i dont like the car seat being used for long periods for small babies. its pretty basic anyway.

Ceolas · 13/03/2007 20:21

I saw a couple looking at the Zapp. It's weird IMO. And not suitable until 6 months without the car seat.

Hulababy · 13/03/2007 20:33

misdee - have already told her about the travel system/use of car seat thing (I garee with you), but that is what she is saying she wants.

I think there is a carrycot bit for the Zapp??? Not sure if she is thinking of getting that though.

OP posts:
misdee · 13/03/2007 20:35

oh dear, yes carrycot for the buzz, not for the zapp.

Ceolas · 13/03/2007 20:40

the dreami carrycot looks lovely

llareggub · 13/03/2007 20:46

I've got the 2006 model and have the maxi cosi car seat, the dreami carry cot and obviously the push chair bit.

My son is coming up to 5 months and we have used the carry cot part a lot - far more than I thought we would. I find it very easy to take on and off the chassis. The car seat is a little trickier to remove and can be a little frustrating. I was very pleased with the fleecey blanket that came with the carry cot.

I had the cosy toe with the push chair and used this in the carry cot, and my son looked very snug in it. I have occasionally used the push chair part and he is very happy in it.

The chassis itself is quite wide and is a PITA in some shops and on narrow pavements, but this hasn't been a real problem. I bought the shopping basket from John Lewis and it is much smaller than others, but for me this isn't a real problem.

The buggy very easy to steer and I often do it single-handedly just because I can! It is very easy to put up and down but on the flip side it does take up a lot of room in the boot.

I do get lots of positive comments if that's the sort of thing she's after. There are loads of them where I live - far more than the Bugaboo!

LaDiDaDi · 13/03/2007 20:50

I have got a quinny buzz for dd who is 10 months now. We got the whole works last year from the glasgow pram centre online and it was loads cheaper than anywhere else and they sell all of the accessories so we got the shopping basket, the cosytoes, the parasol, the car seat, the buggy, the raincovers and the carrycot.

I love it although it is quite bulky but luckily fits in the boot of my Honda Jazz without me needing to take the wheels out. I've never used the buggy seat in the most horizontal position as it didn't look right somehow although I'm sure that it would have been safe. When she was very little we used the carrycot and then moved to the buggy seat in the medium reclined position.

We have the 2006 model and one of the advantages it that lo can face mum or face outwards in any of the three reclining positions on the buggy. I'm not sure if you can do that with the 2007 model.

You can collapse it with the buggy seat attached if you have it forward facing but as we always put her rearward facing we tend to detach it and put them in the boot separately.

Dp likes the adjustable handlebar though occasionally I wish that I had separate handles to put shopping on, this is silly of me really as when we were looking for a pram I vetoed ones with separate handles as they made me feel like I was on a cross trainer at the gym!

We took ours on holiday to Menorca in September and it went in the hold without any problems.

In short I really like it and will be hanging on to it once dd has grown out of it for any future los that we might have.

Ceolas · 13/03/2007 21:29

I really like the 2006 model, but not the 2007 one. I wouldn't buy it. Baby is not due til August, but I'm worried the supply of 2006s will dry up! I don't want one used by someone I don't know!

ScotGirl · 13/03/2007 22:10

I have a buzz too - my ds is 11 mths. I love the fact that ds can face me BUT am now finding that as there are only 2 positions - horizontal and medium my ds isn't sitting straight up enough. The forward facing mode has a much more upright position. He is always cranning to see out and I feel that he is stuck in a half way up position... if you get my drift.

I have a Techno XT which is so fab to push compared to the Buzz.. and am thinking about an Icandy Apple....! At first I got a 2005 model by "mistake" from the shop - it was terrible like a shopping trolley - you had to push down on the back wheels to make it go - don't go there.. the 2006 is so much easier to push as the front wheel and brakes have been redesigned and you can push with one hand. It is still a big heavy buggy though and I think if it is forward facing that you want other might fit the bill better.

Ceolas · 13/03/2007 22:12

I looked at the icandy too. It doesn't have air tyres, does it?

Also a lot of reviews on here syaing it's very heavy.

ScotGirl · 13/03/2007 22:15

Also - forget the parasol get a Ray Shade here - they look fab and are so much less of a faff

misdee · 13/03/2007 22:16

cealos, what about a mutsy? the lightrider is lovely.

ScotGirl · 13/03/2007 22:20

I find the air tyres a bit pointless in the Buzz as the front wheel is solid...why oh why didn't they make it all air. It isn't really up to any off roading at all - even a tree root is useless unless you lift up the front wheel and ride on the back ones which gets pretty tiring after a while. If you really think you need air tyres and will go off roading you need to go for a all air 3 wheeler.
