Decent saucepans???

Hello
The non stick is coming off my saucepans and I have decided that they are not big enough anyway. Can anyone recommend a good set of saucepans, perhaps one that is quite deep??
I am prepared to invest, but not stupid money ( I don't have it )
TIA

pans
i have some anodised ones frm 10 yrs ago and they're still great .. my tefal nonstick that i had for 6 or so yrs is in the bin!

suzycreamcheese · 03/01/2007 17:21

still going strong w/ le crueset set over 10 years old, need strong wrists though, are heavy!

Skylertnightholynight · 03/01/2007 17:31

Thanks bread girl. They look great. I am afraid the Le Creuset are too heavy for me. I have the casseroles for in the oven but know I would get fed up lugging the saucepans about, esp washing them up. Too heavy!
Is it worth paying the extra for the non stick. We always have but is stainless steel that bad????

I bought these a few weeks before Christmas (from this company - best price I found, even with P&P) and they are fantastic. The food just rolls off them - even things like scrambled egg. I am so chuffed with them. And my best friend was so impressed by them that she bought a set too

Skylertnightholynight · 03/01/2007 18:30

They are just steel aren't they Marthamoo? i.e not non stick. That is great what you say about the cleaning. I think they did very well in the GHI tests too. I have thought of a problem though. I like my glass lids. I like to see what is going on.

Skylertnightholynight · 03/01/2007 18:35

Ooh, bread girl you are good! They are a bit cheaper aren't they. It seems a good time to buy in the sales.

I've pretty much given up on non-stick except for one pan & a frying pan - especially when I have 2 teenagers cooking as well - they do tend to grab the nearest implement & scrape away! I find the stainless steel ones really easy to clean with a scourer, even stuff that gets burnt on while I'm on mumsnet!

Skylertnightholynight · 03/01/2007 18:39

Look what I found on ebay here and \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Meyer-Anolon-Professional-4-p-c-set-free-stirfry-NEW_W0QQitemZ230071732150QQihZ013QQcategoryZ98847QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem}\here

i also have a stainless steel stockpot (with glass lid) from asda which was only £8 and i use that a lot. They might have matching saucepans too

Skylertnightholynight · 03/01/2007 18:44

Frau - Are yours non stick or just stainless steel?
Rusty Bear - Luckily I won't have the teenagers to worry about for 10 more years and hopefully I won't care by then!

No, mine are non-stick, Skyler - and I thought I would miss my glass lids but I don't (can you tell I love these pans?)

Twiglett · 03/01/2007 19:01

I got some great ones from debenhams where the lid forms a seive .. they are truly excellent

can't remember who by though

marthamoo · 03/01/2007 19:02

I don't like metal handles - my glass lidded ones had metal handles and I was forever burning myself.

marthamoo · 03/01/2007 19:03

I had those too, Twig - Meyer ones. The non-stick did get chipped after a while though (mind you, I did let the kids play with them...)

SherlockLGJ · 03/01/2007 19:05

We invested in Oneida recently, not cheap but well worth it.

Will try and find a link.

Twiglett · 03/01/2007 19:07

here found them ..

marthamoo · 03/01/2007 19:10

Yup, those are the ones I had (but mine were blue and came from t'Co-op in Stockport).

Twiglett · 03/01/2007 19:13

I've got the almond ones .. for I have style

marthamoo · 03/01/2007 19:14

Did I say how much I love my new (and much more stylish than anything in almond) pans?
