Polly Pocket experts - daft question coming up!

I bought the dds some little playsets for Christmas, just dolls and little rubbery outfits (ooerr missus) and they have been a great hit. I am well aware that the tiny clothes are going to go missing (in fact I'm sure some shoes are already AWOL) so I wanted to buy some more to have handy in case of a crisis. Are there different types of dolls/clothes that aren't compatible? I seem to remember someone mentioning magnetic clothes. Is that what the "Quick Click" sets are? Does anyone know?

We seem to have both. Most mysterious. I'd just go out and buy a few more playsets and resign yourself to the fact that bits disappear at a rate of knots.

PamiNativity · 02/01/2007 15:06

Do the clothes fit on all the dolls? If they do, then I don't really care, just can't face the thought of trying to jam clothes onto dolls that aren't compatible (let's face it, it's hard enough with the rubber ones without talc ) Caught dd3 trying to jam a shoe up her nose the other day, perhaps that's where they keep disappearing to

Some are magnetic and some aren't, and I've given up wondering which ones are which, to be honest. It may be that we have two different Pollies with different requirements. I went for Sylvanian Families this year (requested from same generous mates as last year) which have their own small bits to lose but are generally less distressing than Polly.

LIZS · 02/01/2007 15:13

Our rubbery ones from Snow Cool hotel have split already - do they only fit certain figures ? The Quick Click ones are magnetic - we have the Limo

anniebear · 02/01/2007 19:59

I didn't like the quick click sets, thought they were rubbish. We got a huge playset, shop/changing room and the click thing never worked

My DD has loved fashion polly for a few years now. She loved sitting there taking the clothes on and off, changing them around. I don't think she would ahve played for as long if she had the click ones

Plus, if you tread on one of the plastic click ones you will know about it!!!!!!

charliecat · 02/01/2007 20:01

I am having a clear out of polly in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone want our little bits and bobs and dolls and clothes etc?

anniebear · 02/01/2007 20:19

I would have, thank you........ but DD has accumulated quite a few already, may as well let some one just started out in Polly world have them lol

Troutpout · 02/01/2007 20:27

The rubber ones (ooerrr missus) fit on all the dolls but the quick fit magnetic ones only fit on the dolls they came on i think.
I love Polly...it's so small ...great for holidays

poinsettydog · 02/01/2007 20:55

Quik clik clothes will not go on normal polly pockets (re lack of magnetism). Rubber clothes will probably go on quik clik pollies. According to dd2.

Quick clik ones are magnetic. Which, scrolling up, is what troutpout has said.

dd2 is enjoying the quick clik ones very much at the mo.

poinsettydog · 02/01/2007 20:56

Great little storage boxes in Ikea in case you've not seen them - divided into separate compartments so good for shoes, clothes, hangers, pets, etc.

Troutpout · 02/01/2007 21:04

Oooh that sounds good Poinsettydog!

omg listen to me...getting excited about storage for little doll clothing

NorksBride · 02/01/2007 21:19

DD1 was given the Snow Hotel for Christmas - all three DCs are enjoying it but all that stuff and it only came with one doll. I nipped into local toy shop to buy the smallest box possible, just to get another doll, and the best I could do was £10 on a set with a pony (with it's own rubber clothes - double ooerr missus).

So... can I buy just a doll with maybe one or two outfits?

MamaG · 02/01/2007 21:22

ooh charliecat, my DD has just discovered polly, can I buy some bits from you?

Bagpuss30 · 02/01/2007 23:16

Norksbride, check out woolworths. I bought dd a polly with a ball gown on from there for her stocking. It came in a really small box and was about £2. It just came with the one outfit though.

I am loving dd's Snow Cool Hotel . Has anyone got the new DVD? It is worth buying?

NorksBride · 02/01/2007 23:37

Ooh thanks Bagpuss. I'll nip into Woolies when I'm next in town (and remember it for next years stocking filler too).

PamiNativity · 03/01/2007 09:07

Thanks for the info. I trod on a pair of rubber trousers last night and was convinced it was a dead mouse the cat had brought in!
Argos has some bargains at the moment too - horse and doll sets with lots of clothes for £4.99. I went a bit mad on ebay last night and am hoping that I am going to be outbid on some of the items
Bagpuss30, we have got sick of blinking Genevieve and Desmond too Woolies is selling the Polly DVD for £6.97, a total bargain, as it is in HMV for £17.99. It's a bit cheesy (think Parent Trap but worse) but my girls have enjoyed watching it. One of the extras is a game which involves steering a raft down a river (ie a theme park ride) and even I can't manage to get through it, even on the "easy" setting I'd be intrigued to hear if anyone else has managed to do it!

OP posts:
PamiNativity · 03/01/2007 09:08

Oh, and I found some reviews of the Theme Park set, which were very scathing indeed, so don't get tempted by it being half price in most places.
Boots has got a third off some of its Polly stuff too.

Ah but the shoemaker in 12 dancing princesses is quite hot, in a cartoony way

Hulababy · 03/01/2007 10:35

Asda often sell small sets with either one or two dolls and some clothes. Definitely under £5 for the set.

foxinsocks · 03/01/2007 10:35

he is, isn't he Mama? In the sort of face-has-no-features way that the Barbie movies seem to be animated.

PamiNativity · 03/01/2007 11:23

It's the dad I find really creepy though. Far too young for all those daughters!
We bought dd1 and dd2 the Genevieve Barbies with the twirly light-up skirts for Christmas (bargain in Entertainer) but they weren't as big a hit as Polly Pocket, which was a surprise.

OP posts:
LIZS · 03/01/2007 11:24

dd bought a dancing PP with some Christmas money £5 in Woolies.

foxinsocks · 03/01/2007 11:24

yes, I thought that - far too young to have all those children and far too sensible to not notice that evil cousin had made them all wear grey clothes and become miserable (even if he was being poisoned)

PamiNativity · 03/01/2007 11:27

The triplets are quite creepy too. There's something out of proportion about them, or maybe that's just being next to 9 Barbie figures . Interesting choice of names for a lot of the princesses (and the shoemaker!)

Mercy · 03/01/2007 11:28

I hate Polly Pocket.

If I can ever round up all the bits and pieces I will happily send it all to one of you (including the ridiculous limo).
