Polly Pocket experts - daft question coming up!

I bought the dds some little playsets for Christmas, just dolls and little rubbery outfits (ooerr missus) and they have been a great hit. I am well aware that the tiny clothes are going to go missing (in fact I'm sure some shoes are already AWOL) so I wanted to buy some more to have handy in case of a crisis. Are there different types of dolls/clothes that aren't compatible? I seem to remember someone mentioning magnetic clothes. Is that what the "Quick Click" sets are? Does anyone know?

oh, me please!!! it's the only thing I've ever seen both dd1 and dd2 play with happily for hours, without any fighting

I hate polly pocket too mercy. It's my dd that plays with it

charliecat · 03/01/2007 16:34

Enid · 03/01/2007 16:38

pamina go to the disney store and buy the princess versions

my dd2 nearly died

and ariels clothes fit the pollys too

Mercy · 03/01/2007 16:48

Pamina, I spoke to dd this afternoon - she is happy for your dds to have the car. I will have a look for the bits and pieces that go with it and get it boxed up (probably next week though when she's back at school - I can then go through her bedroom with fine toothcomb for the relevant bits!).

CAT me if you are still interested!

PamiNativity · 04/01/2007 09:07

Hi Mercy, have CATed you. Thanks

Enid - Princess versions??????? Oh good grief, no! Dd1 spent Christmas in her Aurora dress and dd2 was Snow White (courtesy of my brother) so their heads would explode!

Enid · 04/01/2007 09:11

yes - dd2 has the TINKERBELL and the ARIEL one - not officially polly pocket but the clothes fit

they are dd2s most prized possessions and they live in the playmobil castle with a motley crew of pollys, playmobil figures and princess figurines

PamiNativity · 04/01/2007 09:14

Enid, like this? sleeping beauty

OP posts:
Enid · 04/01/2007 09:15

yse thats it

it comes in a bling case as well

the clothes fit polly

LIZS · 04/01/2007 09:17

ooer - don't think we'll go near a DisneyStore any time soon

PamiNativity · 04/01/2007 09:20

Wow, they look good! I don't get it though, they seem much better value than PP sets. Also, there are loads of clothes too, which is really handy.
We've got birthdays coming up in March (dd1) and April (dd2) so I'll definitely bear those in mind...

if you buy a plain polly with clothes they aren't very expensive

but a big pack of polly clothes with doll is impossible to find - you have to get the gimmicky quick click dial style limo fabbo bolleaux as well

btw the pollywood film is a triumph of animation and scripting

PamiNativity · 04/01/2007 09:47

Yes, that's what's so frustrating. It's so handy to just have a pile of dolls and clothes, with the odd "big" item, rather than lots of big items and 3 dresses. I got a good pack with just 2 dolls and a load of clothes on ebay for under a fiver, but never see them in the shop.
Have just bought 3 PP Advent Calendars on Ebay after getting carried away the other night. Hopefully PP will still be in vogue with the girls then..
And as for the PP film, [hmmm] exactly. Please tell me you've tried to do the log flume on the Extras and not managed it

OP posts:
Enid · 04/01/2007 09:48

yes I did that with barbie - a MASSIVE pack of barbie clothes and accessories for a fiver off ebay

will try the log flume at lunchtime

tamum · 04/01/2007 09:58

Dd has a Sleeping Beauty one, she was hyperventilating when she found them in the Disney Store. I was confidently predicting that the dresses wouldn't be interchangeable but I was Wrong.

we adore polly pocket here but the magnetic ones are new to us too - DD had a set for Christmas. Basically the magnetic ones only fit the magnetic doll so that's more bits you need.

I insist DD puts it all away and she still has all shoes in pairs, even sets she has had for a year (got the first load last Chrissie I think) [smug emoticon] but that's because I am Anally Retentive Mummy about things like that (jigsaws and Top Trumps too - oh and felt tips, at least for a week or so)

Yes Norksbride, agree with Hula, Asda do tiny sets with a doll and one outfit for about £2, there was one in DD's stocking from the ever-resourceful Santa so it must have been cheap as chips.

Clary · 04/01/2007 10:12

DD btw also has a Tinkerbell one from Disney, I think £10 is not bad considering play value (DH hates this stuff).
Tink (an dindeed Aurora and the rest) has an oddly large head vis a vis bher body tho. A bit like SJP in Sex and the City.

MamaG · 04/01/2007 10:39

In Woolies at the moment there is a polly set (think its called STyle House or something) with one doll, quite a lot of clothes and some furniture (the cardboard box is split into four sections, like rooms) - half price at £6.49

DD bought it after saving up her pocket money

fruitful · 04/01/2007 22:16

ToyRUs do loads of sets that have 2 dolls, about 10 outfits, and no big plastic things. For £8 or £9 I think.

Ds (21 months) loves polly pocket (bought for 4-yr-old dd). He follows me around the house holding a half-dressed Polly and a shoe or sunglasses, saying "unh, unh!" until I dress her for him.

I bought them Playmobil for Christmas in the hope of distracting him and so far it is working.

I have just been into town and bought the DVD . Thanks for the tip off Pamina. Couldn't see any playsets that I liked but may check out ToysRUs at some point. Now the question is do I keep it all for half term or do I let dd have it now? I must admit that I really love playing with it, sorry, helping dd play with it and so the temptation may get the better of me . Enid, I love the look of the disney ones too so may bear them in mind next time we have a trip to Manchester and can get into the store.

Oh, some of our Snow Cool clothes have split too and dd is now asking for Rick??? When will the Polly madness end?

oh my goodness, dd would flip if she saw the disney princess version, she'd love it!

we have loads of polly pocket, and probably even more arriving tomorrow as its dd's birthday. i've given up trying to keep the rubber and magnetic stuff seperate, its now all scooped up and chucked in a little suitcase every bedtime.

i know its annoying as there's so many little bits but we've found it a great thing for keeping her amused on long cars journeys. ds, 18mnths loves it too

we only have one male doll, need another, he's worn out

lucykate · 05/01/2007 12:58

they had some little sets, rubber clothes and dolls with jointed arms at instore (poundstretcher) before xmas for about £1.50
