Bl**dy Gap don't have their linen trousers this year

I lived in them last year, good value and so comfortable. They don't seem to have them this year Can anyone tell me otherwise?

Have tried other makes but only like Nicole Farhi, all the others seem too prickly (have eczema) and I can't wear them. NF nice but the linen is so thin and they fade much faster than the Gap ones and are 3x the price.

Kew has linen jeans style ones....

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 13:33

Is the linen prickly though?

If anyone bought any and didn't wear them I'll happily buy them off you! Size Medium.

...and Boden has loads.

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 13:34

oh shudder, OK will look at their site

I am such a crumplemuffin that I can't do linen AT ALL, but I confess I quite like some Boden stuff. Although I am exactly the sort of lefty 'working mum' that Johnnie Boden thinks is bringing the country to its knees.

Try Jigsaw as well? I just bought some great cords there, which now just have to shortened to fit my inferior status.

bossykate · 19/04/2004 13:36

cd, got some in east a couple of weeks ago...

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 13:40

Are they nice BK? Their stuff does tend to be rather voluminous! I wore theirs (as you know) when was pg and the large ones lasted me until I was 7 months + I think.

Will nip into Richmond and have a look

Is there a website for Kew?

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 13:41

MI have you not heard of starch!!!

Just spray it on when ironing your linen and it won't crumple nearly as badly. After spraying leave it 15 secs or so otherwise it will flake

OP posts:
motherinferior · 19/04/2004 13:43

Kew website is www.kew-online.com.

I will also confess I do not do my own ironing. But as our cleaner, who also does the ironing, is a ferocious ironer (she'll iron anything in sight) I think she would be rather pleased to see I had Learned the Ways of Starch. Many thanks, CD.

Blu, you won't get off that site alive, believe me.

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 13:44

Oh MI nor do I! I stand there with tea bossing ironing person (nanny) around and instructing on starch use!!

katierocket · 19/04/2004 13:50

MI - that's a great website

bossykate · 19/04/2004 13:53

they are quite voluminous, cd, but that is ok by me in my condition! they are white with elasticated drawstring waist.

aloha · 19/04/2004 14:04

M&S have drawstring linen trousers, cheap but looked nice (though I also don't do linen as look like large, crumpled, ambulatory bin-bag). LOVELY ultra-soft, cotton-but-looks-just-like-line wide-legged jeans-style trousers in French Connection in black or white. I am too fat for them, tragically, but would have bought them like a shot if not. They are very Nicole Farhi in style, actually.

happy1 · 19/04/2004 14:14

Next have some gorgeous linen trousers for men so they probably have them for women too. DP says they are really comfortable.

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 14:15

How can you all live without linen trousers. They are my summer staple!

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 14:15

happy1 next linen prickey

SoupDragon · 19/04/2004 14:22

I have some unworn white ones from Gap but I think they're a small. These are the drawstring waist, wides legged ones. I never wore them as the pockets are to big and you can see them through the trouser legs. My black ones were fine though and have been worn loads.

tamum · 19/04/2004 14:29

I don't know if these are the right style, but have you tried Orvis ? Mainly ghastly but with some gems is my general opinion. Not cheap though. I got a linen tunic there last summer which was very soft. Otherwise, in previous years, I've had linen trousers from Monsoon and Hobbs, so maybe worth a try?

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 14:40

Thanks soupy but wouldn't wear white as may be mistaken for a galleon in full sail

Tamum thanks but couldn't bring self to buy something called slacks!!!

OP posts:
tamum · 19/04/2004 14:43

No, I do see your point

Janh · 19/04/2004 14:46

CD, I don't know how tall you are - any good at sewing? - but Long Tall Sally have some, v smooth - either mid-grey or a slightly scary pink. Are not smart though.

Will look for link.

CountessDracula · 19/04/2004 14:46

Can;t sew!

Only want black and brown really

Am dwarf

SoupDragon · 19/04/2004 14:47

I agree about white, CD I'm actually tempted to dye them. I was seduced by mental images of wafting about in hot climates looking cool and elegant. Fat chance!!

motherinferior · 19/04/2004 14:48

Linen takes dye beautifully, Soupy. Get some of that Dylon stuff for the washing machine.
