ok - i know it's lazy, but my dp and i work full time and we can't be bothered with doing this ourselves. i know some companies do it with real fir trees, but we want an artificial tree so it will last all december next to a radiator. does anyone know of a company that will do this. we have a reasonable budget and live in south west London.

Thanks Twig- an MN classic in the making

You know, wheels isn't reading this. She has someone post for her and someone else to read the replies.

(sorry wheels, it's just such a gift...)

scotchick · 22/09/2006 19:27

poor wheels! She'll be reading this mark my words, but may not post again for fear of reprisals!!!

How bizarre though, to have a tree ready decorated! Also, LOL at all those ready decorated trees! Must be many many wheelses out there who just cannot find 15 mins at Christmas to decorate this inconvenient fake arbor that they are obliged to place near the radiator of their living room!

The point of a tree is that it drops all its needles, the decorations are put on by children and look really really shite, the dog eats the choccie decorations and by January the angel at the top is perched at such a precarious angle that you pray she'll make it to next Christmas.

It's all jolly stuff, not to be missed!

scotchick · 22/09/2006 19:28

and wheels, don't be offended, we've all had our threads sabotaged! Take the info you requested and get the hell outta here!

you may have to use an alias for your next thread. MNers have long memories.

I don't .. I'd forget my name if it wasn't sewn into my clothes

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 22/09/2006 19:32

but this is a wind up, yes?

sugarfree · 22/09/2006 19:34

Scotchick, you forgot the Easter tradition of hoovering up the final pine needle.

Wheels, why bother having the blasted tree,it's only the law on MN not in RL.

My control freakery just loves putting the deccies up and screaming at the family "NO!Not there fgs! There! SHEESH! Do I have to do everything round here?"

scotchick · 22/09/2006 19:36

or, lovingly let your children decorate then once in bed, roll eyes to the heavens, take everything off and do it all again.

Taking off thin tinsel and broken pine cones, obviously, and replacing with wooden, traditional swedish hand made ornaments.

sugarfree · 22/09/2006 19:47

And handmade Nigella Christmas biscuits tied on with thin red ribbon?

sugarfree, obviously hand made cookies, sweets and little hand made crackers are order of the day in MY house

sugarfree · 22/09/2006 20:22

No handmade tinsel? Slacker!

fartmeistergeneral · 22/09/2006 20:23

read my previous post! Tinsel is forcibly removed from my tree for being too 'gauche'.

I've changed my name, do you like it?

sugarfree · 22/09/2006 20:32

Tis Gingham tinsel naturally,nothing gaudy!
Why have you become Fartmeistergeneral, maybe I shouldn't ask.
What about TastefulTraditonalChristmasSupremo?

fartmeistergeneral · 22/09/2006 20:34

I don't know, bored of scotchick, and fartmeistergeneral just popped into my head!

fartmeistergeneral · 22/09/2006 20:34

what's tastefultraditionalchristmas whatever that was (can't be bothered scrolling up!)

sugarfree · 22/09/2006 20:47

Where everything is home made, the house is twinkly and smells of pine and cinnamon and everyone is relaxed, happy and rosy cheeked in the glow of an open fire surrounded by beautiful, tasteful decorations.
Not like that in your house then?

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 15:50

Why bother with a tree then?

Dh and I both work and have just about no time to spare. But 90% of the pleasure of Christmas is the preparation. We make a special trip to choose a tree and bring it home and we all decorate it. Every year the DCs choose a new decoration, not to mention the 'treasures' they make themselves.

Now I know that everyone is different but if you are going to buy the thing ready decorated what is the point? It's what they do at work.
