Gobbledigook · 05/09/2006 12:56

From Tesco I've bought them each a pack of about 5 pencils with their name on.

Pack of stickers with their name on.

Ds1 has got a little pot of those magnetic sticks and balls that you build things with.

Already bought them a DVD each too as they were cheap in Tesco (NEmo and Antz)

flashingnose · 05/09/2006 12:57

Nothing to do with stocking fillers but have you seen the "Dangerous Book for Boys"? Was flicking through it in the bookshop this morning and thought of you and your lot - it looks fab.

flashingnose · 05/09/2006 12:58

And you too GDG.

Tins of marbles?
Harpers Bazaar has also got tins of Ouch Plasters that are definitely going in dd's stocking.
We also always put in some of those Stabilo Woody thick wax pencils, glorious colours.

Gobbledigook · 05/09/2006 13:00

what do you want to buy them imitation snow for?

not heard of that book - do I really want it?!

Marina · 05/09/2006 13:00

Harpers! I wish. I mean Hawkins of course.
Those annoying chocolate potatoes and mushrooms as well.

flashingnose · 05/09/2006 13:00

I did too - and LTH, so ner

Marina · 05/09/2006 13:01

And Dangerous Book is on our main present list. It looks good and not especially dangerous.

Gobbledigook · 05/09/2006 13:01

I must have a look at this Harpers Bazaar.

You are all veyr norty as I'm trying to work while ds2 is working his way through a pack of sweets in front of the tele!

flashingnose · 05/09/2006 13:03

Yours might be a bit little for it GDG - I'm getting it for ds for his Birthday (he'll be 8). It's full of ideas for stuff that boys should be off doing but don't IYKWIM, probably involving magnifying glasses and penknives.

coderoo · 05/09/2006 13:05

I'm getting that Dangerous Book For Boys - for DH

I've got DS1 some Thomas Top Trumps and will get him a TTTE diecast or two.

But he's still v little and easy to buy for.

Marina · 05/09/2006 13:07

It is a classic GDG. Ds is also getting the make your own Monopoly kit, a snip at 19.99 compared to the Hasbro website customised version at 95.00 (NOT on our list).
Also has reindeer that poo chocolate raisins and all sorts of amusing tat.

Marina · 05/09/2006 13:07

There is talk of a little laydee's version of the Dangerous Book - how to press flowers properly and do real French skipping

Bink · 05/09/2006 13:09

probably some edible banknotes (here ) - ds very into moneeey, which is I gather very typical of 7

Marina · 05/09/2006 13:10

Oh fabulous bink, that's for both of them for sure.
The Beano comic making kit was a huge hit last year with ds.

Gobbledigook · 05/09/2006 13:10

OK, have registered and requested catalogue

Bink · 05/09/2006 13:17

And, while we are tangentially on the subject of what dhs are getting, green-fingered dh is getting a brilliant present for his birthday in Oct - a Wollemi pine seedling - the 2-million-year-extinct pine which was rediscovered in 1994.

BettySpaghetti · 05/09/2006 13:22

Hawkins Bazaar is great for those fun-science type things too -bought my god-daughter some Volcanic Geodes from there last year(smash them open to find crystals inside). She thought they were excellent.

Last years most popular stocking filer for DD (who was 6 at the time) was a pot of Fart Putty! Adults and children alike played with it constantly -gross I know but it doesn't last forever

tamum · 05/09/2006 14:31

I've got the Dangerous Book for ds for his birthday- it looks wonderful, and the Times did a series of posters from it a few weeks ago.

Not stocking presents exactly, but cod, did you know you can get Spongebob lego in the US now? I just bought a set off eBay, and with the dollar being so weak it only cost the same as a set would be here even with postage. Fab- it's got Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward and some things that fire jellyfish (was also v. interested to see that he's called Bob L'Eponge in French)

Marina · 05/09/2006 14:52

Spongebob lego?
Both mine adore spongebob! The company are insane, why is this not marketed in the UK! Am off to ebay now thanks tamum

tamum · 05/09/2006 15:06

You're welcome Marina It may be that it's coming over here, but I wondered if it was a licensing thing. I saw it on the Lego website originally and then when I clicked it said not available in the UK. The Spongebob figure is so cute, I have to say.... I am "looking forward" to lots of ds's lego films featuring SS
