what's your rush ? They'll probably be a different one out later this year - they tend to launch new styles /colourways in September/ October for the New Year !

strongmints · 04/08/2006 17:20

it looks really good i think - only drawback i can see would be possible width - I can't bear it if they wont go through shop doors.

weight -especially if its going in and out of the car

and from the picture it looks like it needs seat removing (bugaboo style) to fold up.

shhhh · 04/08/2006 17:21

No rush really BUT I feel confident once prepared iykwim..!! It;s just due to the waiting and delivery times that I wanted to try and sort something out within the next 1-2 months thats all.

Never thought about new colours etc..!!

OP posts:
shhhh · 04/08/2006 17:22

My main concern is the width..and doorways.

Think weight will always be an issue with double prams although I'm sure I read that it's an aluminium frame so quite lightweight.

We have ordered a red one and i'm looking at the moment for the shop name to ring and check tomorrow. It was going to take a few weeks as we ordered red and they're not yet in stock. I'll let you know when i find where i ordered it

BTW, we paid £300. for the buggie and i think it was £70 for the carrycot.
Mothercare are selling it for £399. for the buggies and £100. for the carrycot

shhhh · 11/08/2006 15:21

so I take it you loved it from testing it..?? You were due to test it a few weeks back..Did you manage to do it.?

I think you had ordered yours from babybirds..thats if you went with the place recommened as they were the cheapest.

OP posts:
Angeliz · 12/08/2006 13:50

I didn't test it, i just ordered it and thought if i hate it i'll send it back!
I am nesting i think and need it all done now!!

shhhh · 13/08/2006 12:13

let us know then once you get it..I'm still holding off ordering it although I too want to get it ordered and out of the way soon.

Thanks. xx

Hi, I'm expecting twins in November and am torn between phil & teds & first wheels city twin? Can anyone HELP?

shhhh · 23/09/2006 17:18

I am still awaiting an outcome as well..not able to get any reviews yet!!! Anyone..??

DH & I have been to mothercare world today and have looked at the folowing: (BTW need pram for a newborn and dd who will be 16 months)

City Twin
Phil & Ted
Jane
Mothercare Hoxton

Out of the 4 viewed we are impressed with the First wheels city twin and the phil and ted. I also like the hoxton...

Anyone got any advice.?
Reasons we like the above:

City Twin: Baby can face us and outwards, easy to steer and really nice looking. However when it fold, it not flat and is bulky. But suppose this is expected with a double pram..Also worry about it fitting through shop doorways..

Phil & Ted: Like the bit for the newborn and the fact I can see baby while I push the pram. Its slim enough to fit through anywhere.
BUT not sure if I'm keen on another 3 wheeler.
Not sure if I like the idea that baby undernearth/at the back doesn't have much of a view.

Hoxton: Folds flatter than the others but is heavier. Easy to use and cheaper than the other although price isn't to much of a factor..

HELP..!!

To answer the q's below, the 1st wheels is a lovely looking pram and lovely to push and manouvere. My and dh's only issue is the "door" issue.

Has anyone tested the phil & teds side by side?

KateyS · 23/09/2006 17:46

thanks for info Shhhhh.

shhhh · 23/09/2006 17:55

katey, only just found out the do one aftre you said..! Looked at online and it looks good. Only thing I can see bad is its weight. Its heavier than the first wheels. Says it folds compact though...Different to the first wheels as the seats only face one way. Suppose it depends on what options you want.

Hi,

Re-read the bad reviews - they are on babyworld and these 2 people dont actually have one just dont like it in the shop. They like one in front of the other styles tho so prefer the narrower option.

Hi there Shhh

I have been looking for a double pushchair too. I am due in Jan as well and my DS will be 17months when it is born.

Had a look at the city twin in mothercare as I thought it would be really lovely to be able to have both children facing me to talk to but when I tried to put DS in it, he didnt fit!!! He is a big boy (over 28lbs at 14 months and very tall) but still, he only had a t shirt on so when he has a big jacket on in Jan it would be worse.

I pushed it about in mothercare and I couldnt get around much of the displays but it did push like a dream and if you have to walk along way then it would be lovely.

Also I have to say it is massive when folded as I found out when I got them to put it in our mondeo estate and it filled the boot! I found it very wide too, but then I have discovered that I am not a big fan of side by sides.

I have searched all over the internet to find a tandem push chair where at least the back seat is rear facing, if not both. Cant find one that is safe according to british standards, but there is one called the bebe confort twin that looks gorgeous which is available i the rest of europe but just cant buy it myself without trying it.

On phil and teds- a friend of mine had one for her DD and sold it after 2 months! She said that the baby swang about too much and it felt abit flimsy, all clips and nylon. She swapped hers for a mutsy but that was for one child, not two. I have a single three wheeler for DS and I find it quite hard to get up and down curbs and steps now that DS is heavier as it tends to tip if you dont go backwards. I am quite tall and strong but I think it would be quite hard to control with two children in if you were not so strong, esp as they got bigger. Not tried it though as just cant afford it and all the extras (you would think for the cost of it you would get a few really!)

I looked at the Mothercare pheonix which seemed pretty good for the price. It is the only double that I have put DS in and he has loved and actually started giggling when I was pushing it along. Sad that baby doesnt face you but for the money seems my choice so far.

suzi2 · 24/09/2006 11:32

I saw one of these in use the other day and it didn't look that wide. I have to say that seat size isn't a huge worry for me as our DS is only 2nd-9th centile height wise (and slightly more weight wise) so is quite petite for all pushchairs. In fact, he looks lost in bigger ones!

It's still a contender for me but don't know anywhere local to me that stocks them which is a bummer.

Don't you wish you could test drive all these buggies in your own home before ordering???

Dragonhart · 24/09/2006 11:49

Def wish you could use them for afew weeks then see if you like them. Surely a business in there somewhere!

Doesnt your mothercare have one suzi2. Ours is a mothercare world and has had it in for a few weeks now.

shhhh · 24/09/2006 14:08

thanks dh. BTW yes I do wish I could have a pram/s for a week to test lol..! Heaven..!!

Can you buy the bebe comfort one from abroad and take the risk..?? ie sell on ebay if you hate it..?

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 24/09/2006 19:27

Thats what I wanted to do but DH keeps saying 'why cant you buy it here-is it safe' and what if something goes wrong on it' (we had a bit of a drama over our last pushchair with things going wrong and having to send it off to be fixed). Might persuade him yet!!!!
