Yeah I would. You spend half your life in bed, it's important to have a comfy one. If you have it for 15 years it's only £180 per year

PestoFlashissimos · 23/11/2013 21:24

No

steeking · 23/11/2013 21:24

no

MikeLitoris · 23/11/2013 21:25

Yes if I could afford it without goung without anything else.

I suffer with joint pain and plan on spending ££ on a new mattress next year.

bundaberg · 23/11/2013 21:25

if it was totally amazing and the comfiest thing ever and i could afford it then yes... yes i would.

theoriginalandbestrookie · 23/11/2013 21:26

Not if its tempur, memory foam and probably not even if it isn't. We got tempur through Dreams then changed for another mattress because of their 40 day exchange policy - mattress cost around £2000 I think. Well it's ok, but not as nice as our old one that cost £500, but didn't last very ong.

Felix90 · 23/11/2013 21:27

If I had the money then yes. I love my bed so much. We spent almost 1k on our mattress and it's amazing (1k is an awful lot for us too!)

BrianTheMole · 23/11/2013 21:29

Depends. It really would have to be very very special.

Joycey29 · 23/11/2013 21:32

It's the technogel mattress.
It's cool and yet supports fully.
20 year gaurentee...

If I had the money spare and thought it would be worth it, then I suppose so. That wouldn't ever happen though! Last one we bought was about £350 and that was really expensive for us.

Joycey29 · 23/11/2013 21:35

My problem is that I don't want to spend that much if a cheaper will cool and support in a similar way...

Our bed was in the region of £1600 and that included the divan. I thought that was a lot!

It is rather lovely and I did justify it by telling everyone that you spend a third of your life in bed.

evelynj · 23/11/2013 21:40

You'll get sufficient for cheaper but I would if I had the money without sacrificing elsewhere but check this place out. So much info...

www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk/

Enjoy! And go superkingsize, you won't regret it!

TheSurgeonsMate · 23/11/2013 21:41

Certainly, if I was confident in what I was doing. I'd love to know enough about mattresses to know which ones were worth it.

Joycey29 · 23/11/2013 21:42

Thanks Surgeon, I think that's what I mean I need!Grin

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 23/11/2013 21:43

yes, as long as it wasn't going onto a credit card.
we are far from rich, but after years of sleeping on shitey beds we treated ourselves to a decent feather and black bed and mattress when DH got a big tax rebate. for context, everything else in our house comes from ikea.

I love my bed. every night when I get into it, I'm glad we spent all that money.

Joycey29 · 23/11/2013 21:45

Our house is also ikea and oak furniture land - hence the reticence but three small cd and I need meaningful sleep x

bundaberg · 23/11/2013 21:47

mattresses are one thing that you HAVE to try before you buy.

so, if you're not 100% sure then go and try as many as you possibly can!

when you find the one, google to see if it's any cheaper anywhere else

Joycey29 · 23/11/2013 21:49

Tried, googled - still expensive x

Freyathecatt · 23/11/2013 21:51

We spent a reasonable amount on our bed and it was some of the best money we have ever spent. if you can afford it do it.

Remember you spend at least 7 hours a day (pre children) in your bed. Over 20 years that works out as approx 5p a night. I think. And definitey go super kingsize!

NoComet · 23/11/2013 21:54

No, I'd object to £280 and have been avoiding buying a new mattress for the last year.

VerySmallSqueak · 23/11/2013 21:54

Couldn't and wouldn't.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2013 21:56

Do it.

Unless you have debt to pay off.

MeMySonAndI · 23/11/2013 21:59

You dhould not keep a mattress for 20 years, by 10 its ready to be changed even if it is still comfy. Too much sweat in it, sorry.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/11/2013 22:01

Yes I would.

I cannot understand why people spend more on their sofa than on their bed.
