Is there such a thing as a glow in the dark drinking flask?

Ds wakes up in the night and has a drink of water. It is a non-leak cup so we put it next to him in bed, but most nights he loses it and I have to get up to help him find it

(or most annoying... "Mummy mummy I can't find my.....oh here it is!", when I am already at his bedside )

Would a glow in the dark thing work do you think? Or can you get glow in the dark indelible paint or something?

I think Sigg might do a drinking flask with glow in the dark moon and stars on it - google for suppliers

JackieNo · 11/07/2006 13:02

You can get a glow in the dark mat to put it on - would that work?

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2006 13:07

Oh very clever JackieNo (my product finding friends ) but his bed is on the floor, and he just leaves the cup in bed with him after he's drunk from it, so I guess it is the cup I need to glow.

Puff, thanks, I will try that

(those Sigg flasks are bloody expensive though, and ds is not 100% successful at screwing them up to drink out of them. The one we have is for bed time is a flip top one, I would love one like that)

Ooh ooh, how about sticking glow in the dark stickers on his existing one, or tape if there is such a thing?

oliveoil · 11/07/2006 13:10

is there such a thing as a glow in the dark cooler thing you could put round the cup? I can't remember the name of them, had them in Australia to put round your can of beer (!!) to keep it cool.

dd1 has a flip top cup and once we heard a strange noise coming through the monitor and it was her drinking v noisily and then she went ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh afterwards! Hilarious.

inspired idea Jackie!!!!

poisson · 11/07/2006 13:11

sigg

WigWamBam · 11/07/2006 13:11

I got my dd a drinking flask with her name on from Woolies - you know the sort of thing, gaudy plastic with the name set into it in even gaudier plastic) and although I hadn't realised it, part of the decoration on it is glow-in-the-dark. I have to warn you that it stunk to high heaven when we first got it, but several days soaking in Milton and a couple of hours outside in the sunshine sorted that out!

Failing that, what about getting some of those glow-in-the-dark stars and sticking them onto a plain flask?

JackieNo · 11/07/2006 13:11

How about some of these ? Suspect the moon and stars ones at the top of the page might not be flexible enough - the ones at the bottom or the paint maybe more so.

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2006 13:11

Oh yes that's the thing Jackie! How long does the glowy stuff glow for, does anyone know? He normally wakes up about 4 or 5 am so it would need to last for about 9 hours I guess.

found the Sigg flasks puff , even just a glow in the dark replacement lid which is good. I presume they still have the sports top lid which he does struggle with a bit, though.

or oyu coudl just not giev him a drink at night
its harldy the sahara is it

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2006 13:13

I just had a feeling you would come on and say that cod

Come on now, he is only just weaned from night time feeding, and only just in his own bed

If the poor child wants a drink in the night it's not the end of the world, is it?

(I am just really delighted having a drink gets him back to sleep again, I was being woken up 2 - 3 times a night a few months ago)

poisson · 11/07/2006 13:13

no bu he wakes you for it
id tell him if he keeps wakign you then he can blardy well do without

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2006 13:14

the stickers look fab JackieNo but it says they glow "for up to an hour"

Does anyone know if that is the same for all glow stuff, or just these ones? It's not very long, is it?

Ooh sorry I have missed loads of replies while laughing at cod

You are all very ingenious and helpful

well I get thirsty in the night so I presume dd1 does so a cup she has.

I think cod walks around with a wooden stick thwacking her hand and glowering in the night time in case anyone dares to approach a tap.

poisson · 11/07/2006 13:17

snort
my ds3 has been knwo n to get out of bed and get his own form the bathroom

JackieNo · 11/07/2006 13:18

The self adhesive vinyl here claims 'afterglow duration' (snigger) of max 10 hours.

FrannyandZooey · 11/07/2006 13:19

OO that "glug glug glug aaaaaaah" noise is just what we get here too

Yes I would never personally accept an invite to cod's house. I think she would be growling outside your door if your light was on after 10, or if you needed to get up for a wee there would probably be mantraps on the landing
