...or just one that hasn't got Bob the Builder, football, or camouflage on it

I don't care how much the f*cker costs as long as it is aesthetically pleasing, or at least not smothered in a TV character.

Thanks so much.

Some here and Urchin have some cool ones too, especially on the second page of that link.

ZinedineZidane · 06/07/2006 16:11

any of these?

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2006 16:12

OMG Jackie those are really nice, and they are not all revolting hard cheapo plastic

Keep them coming please.

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2006 16:14

Yes they're fab Zinedine (who the devil are you?)

How about some of these ? Pics, but not 'characters', IYSWIM.

ZinedineZidane · 06/07/2006 16:15

Je suis le wizard blanc de football

ds is choosing between the selection at John Lewis for next term. His choice is Superman, 'Cars' or a monkey design.

phillip · 06/07/2006 16:18

the neoprene ones look lovely but are a bit pricey

JackieNo · 06/07/2006 16:18

Or more here (although I think many similar to previous links).

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2006 16:20

I like all of these.

Zinedine I don't know what on earth you are on about. Please get a grip. (I meant who did you used to be?)

OP posts:
JackieNo · 06/07/2006 16:20

Very plain ones here , I think you can get some of these in Tesco and Waitrose.

JackieNo · 06/07/2006 16:23

Yes - those neoprene ones look fab - there's a whole site , but it's American.

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2006 16:23

I am just starting to wonder if there is in fact a point to having yucky hard plastic though, in that the food inside is not going to get all bashed up, no matter how hard your darling hits it against the lamp posts on the way there, or how many other children's lunchboxes are dropped on top of it when they get where they're going.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 06/07/2006 16:27

Yes - they probably are more durable from that point of view. Hope you can find an acceptable compromise. Another American site, but I like this idea - decorate your own.

juliab · 06/07/2006 16:27

Franny - these tin ones are fab (no plastic at all ) but do have Maisy/Elmer on...

serenity · 06/07/2006 16:27

Hard ones don't tend to be insulated though, and I've found they tend to get broken very easily. I figure that if they eat enough squashed sandwiches they might learn to carry them better DSs cool bags have lasted a school year, need replacing for September though, as even a swoosh through the washing machine can't seem to get all the gross stuff out of the seams etc.

MrsBadger · 06/07/2006 16:30

Muji used to do a fantastically cool translucent plastic one but can I find it?

foxinsocks · 06/07/2006 16:33

if they drop the hard plastic ones they often open and their lunch falls everywhere

john lewis/bentalls have a nice range of 'normal' lunchboxes and M&S used to do a nice, simple, plain one (not sure if it is there anymore)

one of the best ones dd had was a present (I think from Woolworths) that had a shoulder carrying handle but was basically a soft plastic box - loads of stuff fitted in it and it was easy to carry

poisson · 06/07/2006 16:33

i just use a plin abox form lakeland
boys dont csare, thos floppy ones are crap as are ones wiht LOADS of compartments

foxinsocks · 06/07/2006 16:34

soft, vinyl like material box not plastic (I meant)

poisson · 06/07/2006 16:35

franny get one of these wiht a smaller one inside - you put the sandwhich bit int he small one - fits one round, then click it into a big one - no messing wiht clingfilm
if you are are arty farty you coudl decorate it or write bossy instructions on it like" CHANGE YOUR READIN BOOK" or "DONT FORGET TO HAND THE NOTE IN"

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2006 16:36

Ooh, I like them all

I do like the Elmer ones, in fact, and ds has a Maisy flask (despite not knowing who Maisy is)

Hmm....I see what you mean sernenity, but metal ones are so retro and nice though

Enid · 06/07/2006 16:37

dd1 has the marshmallow one from Urchin and is the envy of all her friends, its a good one, roomy with a mesh pocket

FrannyandZooey · 06/07/2006 16:39

They are great cod (especially the non-spillness - I hate that ruddy sinking feeling when you are carrying a child's lunchbox and realise yogurt or whatever is dripping down your leg)

But he wants one with a handle.

Ok, ok, I want him to have one with a handle because I think it will look so darn cute when he walks in holding it

OP posts:
cupcakes · 06/07/2006 16:39

I like those soft zip round ones - bit of insulation useful in summer - and fairly easy to clean. Not as easy as those Lakeland ones but ds won't think much of a clear, pictureless box.
