Another moan about boys' clothes... so annoyed!

Firstly MIL, bless her heart, sends DS World Cup England kit for his birthday. He is 1, and we live in Scotland... luckily she also bought the wrong size and put the receipt in so I had every excuse to exchange it. They don't even sell the England stuff here so I had to get something different. Hurrah, £15 to spend in M&S on something nice for DS.

What do I find - for 1-year-olds - a load of stuff with not only endless skulls and crossbones, but, and I quote:

"I'm trouble"
"Tiny but trouble"
"Trouble-maker"
"Bad"
"Bad attitude"

etc etc ad nauseam. OK I have seen this kind of thing around and I've always hated it but M&S?? On practically their whole range??? Are they mad? Why don't they just write "self-fulfilling prophecy" and "boys are little wankers" and have done with it?

Angry. I shall be writing to head office... (when I've done the squijillion other things waiting to be done after getting back from holiday... :))

schneebly has gone to work, and left this on my (our) computer, i'm just going to manage my football team to european glory, but feel i must respond to this thread, MY GOD iknow i'm a man, but WHOOOAHHH no camoflague khaki etc what's going on? my 3 year old wants to be spiderman, i beleive in episode 3 series 4 he helped the army defeat the green goblin, so no more spiderman underpants for him then,he also pretended to shoot me with a plastic golf club, so no more sports for him. The other day he said he loved postman pat, he wears a uniform which could be associated with the queen is that acceptable. Finally i'm sad if some people on mumsnet won't let their children connect to the real world, it's my opinion (and remember i'm not schneebly but her DH (as i think you put it))that some parents are so politically correct that there children will be the ones throwing the stones at the police helping in public or the firemen putting out the fire come on now get a grip and let your kids wear what they want and what looks good, now back to football manager

haven't read whole thread but snowleopard I absolutely know what you mean... I have really stuggled to find ds clothes this season which aren't football related or as you describe

Actually, can I ask a question... Does blue camouflage print have any place in the military? I know there's the standarg green/brown for greenery and the sand colour for deserts and a white/grey combo for snowy conditions. But blue?? Where do they uise it? floating in the sea? Floating in the sky?

If there is, infact, no place for blue camouflage in the military then, by the reasoning given by the Anti Military Gear Association (AMGA) blue camouflage is perfectly acceptable.

You know, my kids don't wear camougflage (as I said earlier- more coz I odn't like it than anything) and they don't have ANY toy guns, swords, no war computter games (gfootball, grand prix and bigs life) and guess what? DS2 followed me home from school today waving his water bottle at me yelling 'I gotta gun , I gotta gun gun gun'

You can protect them all you want (feel free indeed, just don't tell ME what to dress my kids in- I am perfectly capable of making ratiional choices myself thank you, and as DH will agree, more than capable of reading unnecessary sociological / moralistic issues into anything) but they'll get to school and meet the other boys, and it'll all go to pot.
