Yes or no.

I am trying to justify spending huge amounts of money :o

I think it's generally really good quality and lasts both my boys 2 years of wearing (so 4 years). But I'm lucky - my mum often does a Mini Boden order for me (gives me the catalogue first).
Pyjamas in particular are good quality, and trousers/sweatshirts.
And although Boden is not exactly unusual where I live, at least you can get some nice colours and designs for boys over the age of 2 - GAP baby stuff is nice, but the boys' stuff is so navy/khaki/sports bleurgh.

MadameClarydeClary · 05/06/2006 10:36

I do think it’s worth buying Mini Boden if you find something you like and have plenty of children. (ie it will be worn a lot)

Two examples: a lamby fleece top in ecru and navy is still in DS2’s wardrobe. He’s 3 but it’s a very big 18-24 mo size. It was previously worn by DS1 (almost 7 now) and DD (almost 5) so has been in more or less constant use for the last 5.5 yrs.

DS1 had a T shirt, bright blue with a big rocket lolly on, much nicer than lots of dull clothes for bigger boys. He wore it every week I would say (he loved it) and I got in 5-6 in the sale. He wore is when he was 4 (a bit big) then 5 (just right) then last year at 6 (still OK) and now this March I have just put it in DD’s drawer (she loves it too) and TBH it genuinely looks unworn. can’t say that about much else of DS1’s!
I only buy in the sale tho!
(Gillian it will start at the end of the summer - buy this year for next year!)

Gillian76 · 05/06/2006 21:26

Have decided instead to wait for the sale.

How sensibly unlike me!

this thread managed to make me spend £100.50 on stuff for dd and a t shirt for me.. Blush

Twiglett · 06/06/2006 08:15

God NO .. its all unbelievably boden too (and not in a good way)

Twiglett · 06/06/2006 08:17

oh shit .. I've just looked to reassure myself I'm right and have fallen in love with \link{http://www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Mini&styid=33031&segid=5&gpname=Dresses+%26+Pinnies&desname=Hotchpotch+Shift+Dress&gpid=7&gen=1\this dress} .. luckily they don't have it in blue for a 2 year old ..

Passionflower · 06/06/2006 13:32

Yes, yes , yes here.

But I do have 3 girls so it's handed down. It's no more expensive than M&S and it's cheaper than Fat Face.

In fact my sole reason for being on Mn at the mo was to find out if anyone knows when the sale starts Blush seem to remember it being in July last year cos I'm sure I bought some stuff in time for our summer hols last year.

WelshBoris · 06/06/2006 13:33

oh twiglett that dress is gorgeous

wish i hadnt looked now

Normsnockers · 06/06/2006 13:39

Another vote for buying in the sales and the quality being good enough to ensure items can be passed down to younger siblings or sold on eBay.

I particularly like the fact that they don't put a boden/mini boden logo on the stuff which I dislike so much with Next stuff.

Twiglett · 06/06/2006 16:13

bugger bollocks its just come back into stock .. I have to have it .. first thing I've ever bought from boden too .. dang and blast

agree with normsnockers - I've bought a few things in the sale for the DSs (went to a sale in Winchester Guildhall - bloody nightmare - wouldn't do it that way again)and they look fantastic (and nice colours for boys too not just khaki) and have washed and lasted really well too.
When does the sale start? Grin

Piffle · 06/06/2006 16:19

Yes, it wears well and you can sell it on again for a good, sometimes even better price than you paid for it
Thats my excuse - I buy dd a lot of stuff from Boden, buy some off ebay too to ease the burden Grin

Twiglett · 06/06/2006 16:20

you're all a bunch of bar-stewards .. and I blame you for breaking my boden cherry .. I was doing alright till this thread .. 5 years without anything boden

Gillian76 · 06/06/2006 17:47

Did you buy it then, Twig? Wink

neena28 · 06/06/2006 17:49

Yes I think so, all stuff for ds has lasted for ages size wise and still looks quite new after some of it has been worn regularily for nearly a year.

Not bad as I found all Next/george stuff went very weird after a few washes.

milge · 06/06/2006 18:08

Another Yes vote - mini boden stuff washes and tumbles fantastically. Expensive, but better value in the sale, and if you then pass it down or resell on ebay.

glitterfairy · 06/06/2006 18:13

Yes yes and thrice yes! I love it it is easy washes well and lasts!

GDGwithacraptan · 06/06/2006 18:35

YES, deffo! It's the only stuff mine have that keeps shape and colour through countless washes. Absolutely love it and the boys have tons of Boden clothes.

Cam · 06/06/2006 18:40

I only buy mine in the sales and its more than worth the price

GDGwithacraptan · 06/06/2006 18:49

Agree it's great if you can get a job lot in the sales - but I don't think £14ish for a t-shirt is that bad anyway and it's infinitely better value than Tesco ime.

Mind you, I do have 3 boys so it gets handed down. In the past I've found Tesco or Next stuff is only fit for the bin after one child has worn it.

bosscat · 06/06/2006 18:54

definitely yes. I do agree that if you buy a few t shirts and a few bits and bobs the bill of £100 is gobsmacking but having said that ds2 is wearing all ds1's stuff now (so have I saved money?) and its all in mint condition. No-one round here wears boden so it looks different and everyone here has next clothes which I don't touch with a barge pole as its like M and S.

MadameClarydeClary · 06/06/2006 23:23

You see Twig we are right!
I note that lots of people mention the boys' stuff particurly.
They do a lot more girls' stuff and it's really nice but it's jusy so dam' difficult to find nice non-gray/khaki boys' clothes - plain or with nice pix eg sea creatures rather than spiderman or similar.

notanotter · 06/06/2006 23:26

better vallue now than it used to be - i moved away but johnni has tempted me back!

brimfull · 07/06/2006 00:32

I love mini boden stuff ,but I was in H&M today and their stuff for boys was really nice, bright and colourful.
