I am wanting some MPV info please. Our toyota previa got written off last week (have another thread on that), and we are now looking for another car.
I really want another previa but they are proving very hard to find, so am now needing to look for other MPV's. Problem is I don't actually know any of the names of the other makes to look any up on the PCBlush.

Hoping you lovely ladies can help me. :)

Car needs to be big enough for 5 kiddies and holiday luggage as we going on hols in 3wks! I know that vauxhall safira's are out,and we know that cos that is what the insurance co. have kindly supplied. We can't even get a weeks shopping in when we all insideShock!

So.......do you have an MPV, what type is it, and is it any good??

Thankyou lots.

sorry to reveive an old thread but - anyone got any advice re the distinction between vw transporter shuttle and caravelle??
I think they look so familyish and a bit more cool than staid (sp) mpv's - anyone agree?

mumo75 · 10/06/2006 21:00

the caravelle is the more luxurious, new ones now only have 7 seats, but the older ones were up to 9 seats. the shuttle seats 8 or 9 and are more van like but still lush we are getting a 9 seater shuttle, and we are selling a yr2000 v reg caravelle for arond £10.000 if anyone is interested!!!

notanotter · 10/06/2006 21:05

i am interested in shutttle really because may need 8 seats!

mumo75 · 11/06/2006 08:03

sorry forgot to say my caravelle does have 8 seats!!

NappiesGalore · 11/06/2006 15:11

notanotter - 8 ! mad. truly mad Grin

notanotter · 12/06/2006 15:14

nappies - dp will have one seat and dont forget one for me...
You cannot get 8 seater caravelles now...i am gutted - the shuttle is like a downmarket caravelle..

NappiesGalore · 12/06/2006 19:20

you could tart it up with darkened windows and some fluffy seat covers or something... pimp that ride baby!Grin

notanotter · 12/06/2006 21:01

have looked at your sari coloured one!!! very erh - interesting!!! You will certainly stand out! Spent half the darn day researching shuttle versus caravelle.....new shuttle se is supposedly same as caravelle so if i up the added extras i still may get one !

psychomum5 - I have a Fiat Ulysses (7 seats) it is similar to the citroen and the peugeot. It has the sliding doors which are fab in car parks, so much easier to get the kids in and out.
I am a childminder (have 3 kids myself) and I can get 3 toddlers in car seats in, 2 after schoolers on boosters and 1 older after schooler in + a double buggy, a single buggy, raincovers for both, all school bags and coats etc, potty and changing bag everyday.

I have previously had 3 renault espaces which I loved at the time but since having this one would hate to go back to not having sliding rear doors.

Last year when we went on holiday there was me, dh, ds aged 11, dd aged 9, ds aged 5, my mum, my dad + his wheelchair and all of our luggage in the car and in roof box which I think was quite good.

NappiesGalore · 12/06/2006 23:01

blimey Feelingold - now that sounds like pretty conclusive testing of space to me. id get one of those if i were you, psycho .

notanotter - yes, the sari yellow is indeed...um...noticable? it was actually dp's idea, which, if you knew him, is quite odd really. so i decided to embrace this exhibtionist/creative streak in him and agreed Grin

it does look kinda cheerful anyway. and no-ones gonna drive into me and say they didnt see me are they?!

hehe. people who knew me 5 years ago would have chins on floor at the image of me and my brood of kids in our big yellow bus/van/thing.

notanotter · 12/06/2006 23:05

how many lo's do you have nappies?

NappiesGalore · 12/06/2006 23:08

NappiesGalore · 15/06/2006 16:02

come on then... more details please :-)

notanotter · 15/06/2006 20:23

well.....
dragged dp ( amidst loads of bickering about directions 'somewhere near ikea!') to the delights of the commercial vehicle section of vw and saw the Transporter shuttle.
Chassy of a Toureg body of Caravelle but much less flash...need to put a load of extras on it but we are very keen - I am almost over-excited! Perusing naff brochure tonight ...dp was reaching fever pitch and almost deciding on 3 seats in front but i have convinced him not to....
So we are probably getting one !!!!!Grin so pathetic how pleased I am!

notanotter · 15/06/2006 20:30

there is a crazy orange version i would love but my neighbourhood is way too snobby Shock

NappiesGalore · 15/06/2006 23:15

and that is precisely why you need the crazy orange one Wink

glad you found one you like Smile

notanotter · 15/06/2006 23:33

yes nappies good thinking - my next door neighbour drives this hideous soft top porsche and i would love to plonk an orange bus outside their front door morning noon and night - that would rid me of them forever - see how quick they would sell!!!
