FunPod - anyone got one / used one?

Am thinking of getting one but am not sure how good it is / would be. What's the general view here (from those either with or without one).

looks like a gimmick and a waste of money. how is it any different from standing on a chair?

That just seems a bit odd, putting your child in a wooden box to help in the kitchen!!

I agree with starlover, save the £110 and use a chair!

I was wondering that - but assume that the kid is effectively trapped and can't wander off of all off and have an accident. doesn't stop the tantrum when they're fed up of being in it tho does it.

But nevertheless I still like the concept!

Why would you want a great big practically unmovable wooden box in you kitchen?

Walking around it would drive me nuts

I would prefer to allow mine to stand on a chair and risk an accident!

And save £110 :)

I do find it strange too - something about it doesn't sit right with me (hence the post). Slightly appalled by it but also rather drawn to it for some strange reason. Price is a good deterent tho! lol

The reference to a travel cot is because someone who now "cannot live without her pod!" previously put her 3yo in a travel cot "whenever she was in the kitchen"

I've got a FunPod - they're fantastic. My little boy loves helping me with the dinner and it means that he's not in my way and he's playing with me whilst I get on with the chores. I think that £110 is a small price to pay for the safety of my little one. Perhaps the girl with the travel cot put her kid in a travel cot a while ago not now he's 3???? Just a thought. Wink

But is it safer than a chair? That girl in the picture looks to be about waist height on the surrounding wall. If she leaned too far out, would she not be liable to fall, headfirst, onto the floor? At least with a chair, they generally don't fallright on their heads and won't injure themselves should theychoose to climb down.

I personally think it IS safer than a chair. It says in the instruction guide (and a warning sticker on the inside) that the child needs to be at chest height to the top of the FunPod - that way they can't lean out and fall. My son's had one for a few months - and after a couple of falls off a little stool, I'm much happier about him helping in the kitchen. Ps. what's a veal crate?

I'd be worried if they or you knocked or spilt something hot they can't instinctively move away and are stuck.

my ds loves getting messy - for me it means that all the mess is in one place... and there's a hole in the bottom to clean it up. Wink
