Are they any good?

If you don't know what they are here's this link:

www.littlehelper.co.uk/

Am thinking of getting one but am not sure how good it is / would be. What's the general view here (from those either with or without one).

What is a fun pod!!!!!!!!! I will go and investigate :)

starlover · 27/04/2006 21:26

honest opinion?

looks like a gimmick and a waste of money. how is it any different from standing on a chair?

Aimsmum · 27/04/2006 21:28

That just seems a bit odd, putting your child in a wooden box to help in the kitchen!!

I agree with starlover, save the £110 and use a chair!

Sorry!

Pennies · 27/04/2006 21:29

I was wondering that - but assume that the kid is effectively trapped and can't wander off of all off and have an accident. doesn't stop the tantrum when they're fed up of being in it tho does it.

But nevertheless I still like the concept!

and they can still chop their fingers off! lol

didn't even notice the price... £110?????

Aimsmum · 27/04/2006 21:32

I can't stop looking at it....I find it a very strange concept! Grin

Sorry Blush

busybusybee · 27/04/2006 21:33

Why would you want a great big practically unmovable wooden box in you kitchen?

Walking around it would drive me nuts

I would prefer to allow mine to stand on a chair and risk an accident!

And save £110 :)

MerlinsBeard · 27/04/2006 21:33

No need for a playpen or travel cot with the new and funky FunPod™

Shock
Pennies · 27/04/2006 21:33

I do find it strange too - something about it doesn't sit right with me (hence the post). Slightly appalled by it but also rather drawn to it for some strange reason. Price is a good deterent tho! lol

OP posts:
starlover · 27/04/2006 21:34

does it really say that? a travel cot?

can your baby sleep standing up in a wooden box instead then?

Pennies · 27/04/2006 21:35

Yes, if they're destined to be in the SAS...

busybusybee · 27/04/2006 21:36

The reference to a travel cot is because someone who now "cannot live without her pod!" previously put her 3yo in a travel cot "whenever she was in the kitchen"

Weird

busybusybee · 27/04/2006 21:37

Before I got a FunPod™, Reuben was always in the travel cot whilst I was in the kitchen.

The FunPod™ has given us both a new lease of life.”

MerlinsBeard · 27/04/2006 21:38

i have to say i was so confused by the travle cot comment that iw as more hoorified ta the thought of a child being put in a sideways coffin to play in!!

Maximum2004 · 16/05/2006 18:21

I've got a FunPod - they're fantastic. My little boy loves helping me with the dinner and it means that he's not in my way and he's playing with me whilst I get on with the chores. I think that £110 is a small price to pay for the safety of my little one. Perhaps the girl with the travel cot put her kid in a travel cot a while ago not now he's 3???? Just a thought. Wink

shazronnie · 17/05/2006 07:50

more money than sense is the only comment that springs to mind Wink

SoupDragon · 17/05/2006 07:58

But is it safer than a chair? That girl in the picture looks to be about waist height on the surrounding wall. If she leaned too far out, would she not be liable to fall, headfirst, onto the floor? At least with a chair, they generally don't fallright on their heads and won't injure themselves should theychoose to climb down.

trice · 17/05/2006 08:34

looks like a veal crate to me.

Maximum2004 · 17/05/2006 11:20

I personally think it IS safer than a chair. It says in the instruction guide (and a warning sticker on the inside) that the child needs to be at chest height to the top of the FunPod - that way they can't lean out and fall. My son's had one for a few months - and after a couple of falls off a little stool, I'm much happier about him helping in the kitchen. Ps. what's a veal crate?

Ledodgyherring · 17/05/2006 11:22

I'd be worried if they or you knocked or spilt something hot they can't instinctively move away and are stuck.

Maximum2004 · 17/05/2006 11:23

my ds loves getting messy - for me it means that all the mess is in one place... and there's a hole in the bottom to clean it up. Wink

Gale2006 · 17/05/2006 11:36

I think it's a great idea - I love the fact that you can get them in different colours. Reckon I'm gonna put it on my shopping list :)

Piffle · 17/05/2006 11:36

my 3 yr old dd is fine in the kitchen
My 12 yr old ds is the lummock...
Wonder how big they make them Grin

Maximum2004 · 17/05/2006 11:37

I could do with one for my husband!

SoupDragon · 17/05/2006 11:44

Am I being cynical that the 2 people who think these are fab or want /have one have only posted on this thread? Probably.
